ESF Is a Fast Paced, 3rd Person Fighter Based On The Hit Anime, Dragonball Z

Select your favorite character and fly, power up, transform, melee, and beam your enemies into pulp. Each character is given signature moves and abilities to compliment different style of play. Some are stronger in hand to hand combat, others are better with energy attacks. Play in three different game modes, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the dragonballs. There is a learning curve so newbies beware. This is not your normal Half-life mod.

ESF_Cell_Games has received a small face-lift and some bug fixes. The original version had holes in the mesh that would cause players to fly out of the play area. The holes have been patched and the terrain smoothed out. Also, thanks to Ryo, the blend and texture UVs have been split into separate channels which makes it much easier to work out distortion in the textures.

Its not a private thing. And this site acts as a mirror for the current version which is 1.2.3 along with last versions 1.1, 1.0 and a2.0

But the developement is treeted as indev beta, not closed beta and not open beta. Why? Because we have to reason to go closed/open beta, since we get nothing in return for it. You can either deal with that or not, but its not our concern. And none of these comments will change that.

So people can rage all they want, the result will stay the same.

its not even about that , its just very laughable how safe guarded it is, i get it its free , but to be honest? its just a insult to the people here now . It is still on a public and social site .

There is no logical reason it keep it so safeguarded unless its something commercial or anything

What's the difference between 'indev beta' and 'private thing'? Nice try lol:)
It's supposed to be free mod, now you complain that devs get nothing in return for it.

Indev beta = internal testing untill release
Closed beta = access granted VIA selection process, but not fully public untill release (people in closed beta may or may not really be testers, they are just given access)
Open beta = public releases with all bugs and what not
Private thing = not getting a release at all

Thats the difference. We plan on releasing when its done, so it isnt a private thing. We have an internal testing squad that is tasked with testing the thing and not playing it, so it isnt a closed beta. And for obvious reasons it isnt an open beta.

You are just throwing a hissyfit because you are getting spoiled by stuff like early access when it comes to small indie projects. Thats not the developement model we are going for and you have to deal with it.

For **** sakes Grega. Why don't you upload a stream video on your main page or ask Fuzzy to do it or skyrider or any site manager so we can see what you're doing. And start an every week host. No need to hide what you guys are doing because honestly I'm tired of not hearig new announcement everyday, every week, and every month. It's becoming secretive nowadays. If you don't do it now then obviously you'll get more hate and less attention from those fans who won't support you and your project. And if mastasurf saids no, tell him that the fans said so because honestly I'm still an ESF fan and I'm losing my attention to you guys because of lack of process on how the development went too slow... And take like 7 or 8 years to finish it. Like come on now. You're not working with rockstar. They got like many game makers and you guys got least and lost quite a few people that are now working on bleach (bzm) and Naruto (nnk) and one died on a car accident. DO US A FAVOR And make us HAPPY!

Thats impossible. Just as you are tired of waiting for a release, we are also spent on actually making it. Its been 14 years, since ESF started, and we have been at it for longer than most current fans are waiting for a release. We are just as tired as you, but we want to finish what we started in the way that we want it to be finished. Call it selfish or what ever you want, but that also means that our updates while constant are made on the fly.

We have unscheduled updates, when people have time and the will power to actually do something, and quite honestly at this point the updates themselves are not even something the end user would see. So having someone comb thorugh update logs trying to figure out what exactly changed, is more of a chore than you probably imagine.

You may say im making excuses, or you may call us what ever you want. But from our point of view, we are only finishing what we started under our own terms and conditions. You are just along for the ride if you so desire.

Personally i know that i will not really be playing the final after its release. My time was during 1.1 and early stages of 1.2. How many people play it is up to the new generation. Dont get me wrong, i still lvoe the game, but at 30 years of age i simply dont have the time or willpower to actually sink in to gaming anymore. Ill stick to the project ofcourse, since im a stuborn piece of work, and i presume the rest of the current devs are the same, but our interest is not as high as it used to be, while we still are stuborn enough to want to finish it.

TL:DL Our one and only obligation is to ourselves to actually finish waht we started, regardless of what people may think of us for it, or how much time we actually end up spending on it. Life is more than waiting for a DBZ mod you know.

I understand one thing though, given the amount of years you guys developed ESF, The Developers won't last forever.

Truth: We all will eventually get old unless new generation of people are put on the team to keep the dev team around at all.

But on the bright side though, the older Grega gets the wiser he gets. Hehe

i disagree again with the last part , the moment you upload this on this site this is no longer the teams own project , there is love from thousands of fans that deserve a few answers i think . In no way im attacking you greg . im just baffled by the reasoning

And we are working towards a release.

I can provide answers for questions that i know the answers to. As a fan of the game who actively played it for over 10 years i kinda have a bond to it, besides my position on the team. Which iw why im avtually replying. But i can only answer those questions that i actually know the answer to.

We have tried an open beta, and it was a disaster of a faliure from a developement standpoint. So we reverted to a model we were familiar with. As in working on it and resting it internally untill we have a version fit for an actual release. And we are still working on it. But thats about as much as we can do.

Fans have access to the past versions, but as horrible as this will sound. Fans themselves have no right to demand a second open beta, when the first one flopped big time. So why would we sink extra time in to runing an open beta, when it doesnt end up actually helping us, only using up more of our time that could be spend on actually working on it more.

You can say we are living in the past, with the way we are doing things. And i wouldnt contradict you. But in the end thats the way we choose to develop it.

it has been YEARS! since then greg , if it flopped it flopped , the thing to do is move on and give it a chance at least . Times have changed , early access is a thing , If open beta failed back then there is no reason it would fail again . If anything projects and games are benefiting from Open betas and such . Following a one dimensional path never benefits anyone

For right now Grega. Shut the **** up. You've never looked for facts but bringing bull-shhheiiit up. I'm tired of reading your comments and I'm tired of you not knowing when the release is going to be done. I asked the developers about streaming. they say they will be streaming during the holiday. So I'm waiting. If they do not stream as they promise then I will more likely assume that this project is dead, I've been fooled and furthermore I am definitely will NOT support this project.

Sorry if I sound like a feminist guys.

I myself have heard nothing of such a stream. Thus far all our streams have been spontanius. As in Raven just randomly decided to stream something while he was working on it. No anouncements or anything just a post in the forum chatbox.

Though you have peaked my curiosity. Who told you there would be a stream? Or did you just make that up?

As for when the game is out. Would love to tell you, but i dont bloody know. We will know when we finished all our tasks. Till then you can sit back and do what ever you want, like play other games or even totally forget about ESF.

And dont worry you dont sound like a feminist. You do however sound like someone who thinks he is entiteled to something he isnt.

Esf-final is private mod, not for public release. Esf should be blocked from modb, unless devs will post esf-final public release date.
