Dystopia is a is a total conversion of the Source Engine that places players into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. As Punks or Corporate Mercenaries, players will fight through the physical world to gain access, via Jack-in Points, to cyberspace. Cyberspace is a three dimensonal representation of the world's network. In cyberspace, players must fight off enemy hackers and launch programs to gain control of critical systems and to affect the physical world. Gameplay progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives, and players must work together to achieve victory for their team. Players will be immersed in action-packed battles, whether as a heavily augmented combat mercenary armed to the teeth with the latest in firepower and cybernetic implants, or as a twitch-reflex cyberdecker racing to infiltrate a cyberspace node.

Post news Report RSS Dystopia: January 09 Update - Triple Release Update Pt. #1

We're well on the way to releasing Dystopia over Steamworks, Valve's distribution vehicle for publication over Steam. And in celebration of the upcoming release, we'll be coordinating a three part release in which we go over many of the recent musings of Dystopia, show off new media, countdown to it's release and much more!

I won't be telling you that Dystopia's next update still needs time to be developed, it's had enough. We're so close to our first unveiling of version 1.2 to the world, using Valve's Steamworks system, you can almost taste it. A release of 1.2 over Steam is imminent, we're looking at a very small time frame for when you will be able to play Dystopia. To celebrate the big release, we'll be doing a three part news update up until our release! Check back often!

Before showing off our news update material and the big release of 1.2, we'd first like to give tribute to the number one group of people that have made Dystopia what it is today. Every month, we'll make it a note to introduce new development team members with their work, or show off what the development team has been up to. As developers, we always put so much emphasis on ourselves, that sometimes we may lose sight of what really makes a game unique, fun and long lasting. It's fans.

From editing Wiki entries to make sure the game is up to date in different languages, constantly improving it's new player guide, fighting for the right on Wikipedia to remain notable, all the way to creating the largest amount of custom maps for a Source mod, and then turning around and refining them to perfection the community is thriving with life. Giving feedback and making suggestions, donating monetarily, serving as tech support and always making us speechless, our fans do it all. We sometimes forget about that, and forget that the players of Dystopia are our most valuable resource. And we thank them dearly -- without everyone from the established community members and respected supporters to the silent casual players and forum lurkers, they are all paramount to our success. So thanks.

To give everyone a glance at how powerful and great it is to have such a dedicated fan base, we decided that we would start off the three part update by showing off some of the more popular fan-made Dystopia videos and trailers. The videos listed below were made with no developer interaction, and were bred from the entirety of a living community. Hard work, great organization and almost no handout for help has proven to of paid off in these videos, showing fast-paced Dystopia action with a professional camera lens. We hope that everyone enjoys these, and invite you to check out our new fan made videos section in our media gallery. Here, these videos will remain to be forever remembered as a testament to the strength of a community.

Watch for more fan made videos that will slowly make an introduction over the next few days.
On a different subject, we are actively looking to fill an Associate Producer Position!Be sure to head over there and check it out! If it's your thing, send us an email!
