1 comment by Meltac on May 15th, 2014

As expectable the frequently requested Beta release is not yet bug free, and there is also room for improvements. A first patch shall address the most urgent issues reported by users.

Patch 1 for Dynamic Shaders 1.2 Beta will be small archive containing a set of important changes.
Planned contents:

  1. Hotfix: Eliminates over-bloom / blurry overall image experienced under certain conditions
  2. Hotfix: Prevents rainbows from "bouncing off" at the skybox edges under certain conditions
  3. Hotfix: Heavily reduces lag during startup and loading game when visors are enabled
  4. Improvement: Makes visor reflections look smoother thus more realistic using bloom.

The patch is currently being tested and is supposed to be released in a few days.

Further refinements

The upcoming patch will not be the last set of improvements for the Dynamic Shaders mod, of course. Playtesters are currently applying tweaks to the given feature set, such as improved parallaxing, lighting refinements, and better balanced overall settings.
We shall let you know about those improvements getting mature - Stay connected !

Do you plan to release any patches for 1.1 in the future? I think it already at its best. So can you please merge all the downloads into one package? It's frustrating to download each package then extract them and merge manually.

Instead of patching 1.1 any further start working on 1.2 on full throttle.

Could you please help me? I get this error to clipboard

I have version 1.000, and I'm not going to install the newer patches, because my savegames won't work with them
Any help? :(

That is a very common error that can be caused by virtually everything, but unlikely by my shaders. I'd absolutely advise you to patch to version 1.0005 (or at least 1.0004) because you will have tons of errors like this one and won't be able to play most of the available mods otherwise. Starting a new game instead of using your old saves is a minor issue compared to that, and is anyways required with many mods.

I'm having some problems to get this shader working in OGSE.
I've added the line in the bind_stalker.script, copied all other stuff in the gamedata folder but it won't work.
DoF is working but no wet surfaces...

If you read the summary page above you will notice that the wet surface features is under PLANNED features of version 1.2, whilst the current latest download is still 1.1 Beta. Sorry, you'll have to wait till I've finished the next release...

Just an idea, for more realism in the game - if you have a nightvision on a suit, and you turn it on, in reality everything you see is covered in that nightvision, but in the game the scope isn't covered whenever you zoom in, for example - Img210.imageshack.us

Fixing this would be awesome in my opinion, would really love to see the whole scope covered in night vision, because in every STALKER game and mod this thing is really bothering me...

I know what you mean but I'm afraid this is not a shader thing because the game's suit nightvisions are ppe's (post process effectors) which are (AFAIK) independent from shaders - so probably not "my business", at least not in this mod ;-)

Hey Meltac whats the best values for saturation and contrast? When i tweak those settings it usually goes from very bright[especially on white surfaces] to full on flashbang every time the sun is up.......

Meltac May 31 2012, 10:56am replied:

TBH I never tried to find the best value for contrast, but for saturation is pretty much what you would expect, so just adjust it to your favor. I'm using 60% saturation because the game otherwise looks too much color-saturated for my favor.

Meltac May 30 2012, 3:58am replied:

uhm, I wouldn't agree at all that Complete Mod is the best
mod ever in everything! As most experienced player wouldn't.

Anyway, I'm not doing any textures, so I can't provide help with either fixing or tweaking texture issues, sorry.

Besides that, yes Dynamic Shaders (the mod, not the patch!) is compatible with Complete Mod, however like in most cases when merging two mods together you will need to tweak one or the other thing to get the result that you like.
