0 comments by Jason1_ on May 1st, 2015

The versions of Men of War available at GOG.com (http://www.gog.com/game/men_of_war) have different registry keys from the original retail games. This means that DCG will not auto-detect your game folders during setup and that it may not automatically switch between the DCG window and the game window. DCG is still playable in this circumstance (just select the folders by hand).

However, if you want to update the Settings.xml file to work normally with the GOG.com version of Men of War, you can change the following line in Notepad++ or some other text editor:

Change this line:
  <gameregistrykey>Men of War (Remove Only)</gameregistrykey>

To this:
  <gameregistrykey>Men of War™</gameregistrykey>

Version 4.5 of DCG will fix this so that it works normally with either version.

Hey devs,

How about a new operation "continuous battle"? It would force player fight certain (or different) AI commanders on same map over and over several times in a row. A winner would be decided based on who won most battles in that operations ( lets say, op. would take 3-5 days, winner has to win 4, otherwise operation's results would be uncertain.

It would allow people like me to enjoy the feeling of how exactly combat impacts map, considering how well damage to buildings and vehicles is registered and saved on maps you play - imagine playing this operation on village \ small urban map:

Day 1 - all buildings intact, no destroyed vehicles
Day 3 - some damage to buildings, some burned down vehicles
Day 5 - a true battlefield, with little or no undamaged buildings left.

I would really LOOOVE an operation like that. Too bad that corpses from previous battles don't stay, if you play on same map again..

You can pretty much do this already. Make a new operation, 3x1, pick the maps and orient them how you choose and you can set the start date at the beginning of the war and the end date as late as you'd like, so once you get tired of fighting in one time period or against a certain army you can just capture the enemy sector and carry your units over on to the next one. Of course it doesn't count wins/losses, but you can still have a perpetual fight over a single map.

If corpses were allowed to stay, it would turn out to be a very laggy battle sooner or later. Each little 3d model you see on the battlefield, is made up of small triangles, and each of these triangles is calculated by the engine. If you then has several vehicles, both "alive" and "dead" on the battlefield, and 100´s of human corpses, weapons, helmets etc laying on the battlefield, the result would be dead-boring... just be happy that small arms, dead vehicles etc are left on the battlefield! :)

Regarding your operation idea, it could be interesting to play such a battle now and then, but since I ain´t the coder, I really can´t say whether it is possible or not.

Well, building damage already carries over. I guess the trick would be to make the supply maps really hard to capture, maybe with overlays. I tried to do something a little like that with El Alamein on the North Africa operations.

Is there an ETA on a 4.5 beta? After a few years I am still quite excited about the mod.

I completely understand there will be bugs, it would be nice to try it out and report all found bugs somewhere on a forum. This way some of the more supportive crowd gets to see the progress and also gets to help track down the bugs :)

Unfortunately not, we´ve some unsolved bugs that is game-breaking, which means that you can´t progress after the initial battle. Hopefully Jason1 (our coder) will find out soon what is happening.

One good thing with the delay, is that I will have some extra time to finish some more models! :D

I think most of the AS2 bugs are sorted out now, but we are still waiting for them to fix the minimap.

Are you fellows ever going to make a World War 1 DCG for Battle of Empires? The mapping would be easy since you could just copy and paste the same dreary miles of trench lines for every campaign.

Since we dont own BoE (yet) we arent likely to make a DCG for BoE in the near future. The game hasnt even been out for two months, and it do take quite some time to fix DCG to work with new game settings etc.

Besides, personally I dont think that DCG really fits on a WW1 battlefield.

Thanks for the interest! We are addressing a few new bugs that have popped up in the program. They should be resolved soon.

The main thing is we are completely redoing all the infantry and squads to take advantage of the new in-game veterancy system that AS2 provides. This is a long process as DCG covers many nations, time periods and theaters of war and we want to stay as accurate as possible.

We're starting this process in the Pacific where the US and UK have no real "Pacific" themed squads/soldiers. (They borrowed European infantry before). Fortunately, I have help with this and we have new human skins for the Pacific theater.

This is definitely the most useful mod I have discovered for Men of War. The ability to randomize a campaign and create a group of grizzled vets through many missions is very appealing. In fact according to Steam I've clocked over 800 hours on the game. This mod has kept the game fresh the whole time and in conjunction with the ability to alter model files I can basically apply this system with any war fighting scenarios that are available. (Check out the Total Krieg mod for new models.) I'd give…

Not balanced at all, retarded money system. After 3 rounds you will get spammed by enemy with 20 tanks vs your 3 inf squads or 1 tank ( that's all you can get because you can't get more resources....
