Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG) is a mod for the games "Men of War" and "Men of War: Assault Squad" that randomly generates skirmish missions and lets you keep your surviving forces from one battle to another. WARNING: You may find this mod difficult to install. It is for singleplayer. DCG can also be difficult to win -- it is designed to force you to retreat and live to fight another day sometimes just like in real life, but there are many strategies you can follow to improve your chances of success and many things you can do to adjust the difficulty from the default - feel free to ask for suggestions or help!

0 comments by Jason1_ on May 1st, 2015

The versions of Men of War available at GOG.com (http://www.gog.com/game/men_of_war) have different registry keys from the original retail games. This means that DCG will not auto-detect your game folders during setup and that it may not automatically switch between the DCG window and the game window. DCG is still playable in this circumstance (just select the folders by hand).

However, if you want to update the Settings.xml file to work normally with the GOG.com version of Men of War, you can change the following line in Notepad++ or some other text editor:

code:
Change this line:
  <gameregistrykey>Men of War (Remove Only)</gameregistrykey>

To this:
  <gameregistrykey>Men of War™</gameregistrykey>

Version 4.5 of DCG will fix this so that it works normally with either version.

Hey guys ! Is it possible that I can increase my start points to whatever I like? because it would be nice to have a expensive unit at the start and play only that single unit through the whole campaign :)

As far as I know, the only thing you can do, is to change the setting to Easy (Campaign/Settings). This will give you about 25% more starting points.

I have both MOW and Assault squad and I was wondering which would be better to use for this mod. For example assault squad offer more content then the original men of war for this mod, or or they the same?

The version made for "vanilla" MoW has a lot more content to offer. I dont think that none of the new models we´ve made for MoW has been included in the AS version of DCG yet (I dont play AS myself).

Thanks For the info, however I have one more question. How do you get ships besides transports when doing strategic movement?
I have only done it twice but both times it was just my transport ships with an enemy fighter harassing them, and I would like to know if its just chance or if there is something I need.

You should have one submarine to fight with... if you don´t get one, something is wrong.

I did a few more transfers and 3 of them were just my transports Vs the fighter, but one of them was my transports and a submarine VS a destroyer. If I should have a submarine every time, what could have gone wrong?

You only get sub when there is a destroyer, not a plane. Against planes there's only luck and drifting from side to side. That's pretty stupid, I think. At the very least, player should be able to "rent" escort ships/subs/planes while changing theatres.

Jeez, I must´ve played two dozen of these sea-transport missions, and I must admit that I have never met a fighter during these missions! This is something to look forward to ! :D

However, as Jason1 wrote earlier, the transport missions are very basic so far, and it wouldnt surprise me if he is working on improving them.

So now that we have the transport problems sorted out, another one popped up. The JU-87 Is far too over powered When it is attacking ships, as it only drops bombs that will push your precious cargo right off the edge of the transports without even a near miss, and the only way I know of to stop its fury is if it manages to bomb itself, which happened on about my 17th try to get my ships by.

Yeah, I know about it being a gimmick at the moment, it's just this feature seems to be hardcoded(as are many other things I'd like to change), so apparently I can't turn it off in XML files(unless I set all theatres to the same region, perhaps? Maps would get messed up though, I think.) Novelty effect wears out pretty quickly, so avoiding things like P-51 or IL-2 without means to fight them off becomes a hassle. Great work on the mod otherwise, keep up the good work!

Zeke is right that you can just save and the only penalty you get is losing points. Otherwise, you can follow the suggestion given in the description above: "...if you wish to "turn them off", you can do so by deleting the two files starting with "Transit" in the operations folder."

These missions are just for "feeling" - you will not lose anything, except for a few points if the mission fails. You will still keep your precious tanks etc, even if the ship/train carrying them doesnt arrive at its destination.

Also, you can save right away, and quit the mission that way if you dont like them.

This is definitely the most useful mod I have discovered for Men of War. The ability to randomize a campaign and create a group of grizzled vets through many missions is very appealing. In fact according to Steam I've clocked over 800 hours on the game. This mod has kept the game fresh the whole time and in conjunction with the ability to alter model files I can basically apply this system with any war fighting scenarios that are available. (Check out the Total Krieg mod for new models.) I'd give…

Not balanced at all, retarded money system. After 3 rounds you will get spammed by enemy with 20 tanks vs your 3 inf squads or 1 tank ( that's all you can get because you can't get more resources....
