[UPDATE: A hofix has been released to solve the inventory bug for Original Men of War and partially solve it for Assault Squad 2 (vehicles work now). A future patch or version is expected to completely solve this. Get the hotfix for the correct version in the downloads section.]

This is a full release of DCG 4.5 for original Men of War and a beta release of DCG v4.5 for the Men of War: Assault Squad 2. The Unit Pack is not included in the Assault Squad 2 release because it is still being worked on.

Please note that the version for Men of War: Assault Squad 2 has a number of issues still:

1) The most recent patch broke the mechanism that allows soldiers' inventories to carry over to the next mission. This may be fixable in the next version of DCG. [Update: fixed for original Men of War, but not entirely solved for Assault Squad 2]

2) The minimap and some material files do not reload between missions due to caching by Assault Squad 2. This can lead to strange textures on some maps and the minimap being incorrect. There is a workaround for this: the problem goes away if you go all the way back to the main menu of Assault Squad 2 between missions (or exit the game entirely). It is not possible for the DCG team to fix this, but perhaps Digitalmindsoft will fix it if users request it.

3) There have been problems getting the mod.info file to work with new patches. It is set for the current patch from Nov 17th, 2015. Future patches will require users to manually edit this file with the new patch version in order for it to continue working.


Also, a friendly reminder: Zeke, Ngvede and others on the team have put many hours into the vehicles, skins, and other content. Please do not re-use the content without giving credit (and please ask their permission, too). We see too many cases where someone uses their models without credit and then another mod, which would have given credit if they had known, re-uses those models without credit, too. Please help keep them motivated by making sure this doesn't happen!



NEWS! From today (2016-03-01) the DCG team no longer allow any other mod to use our work WITHOUT a written permission from us, and mods that uses our stuff, must have a proper credit list added. Mods that existed before this date, is allowed to use the work that has been released in earlier DCG´s, but all new models etc that is included in DCG4.5 (and future versions of DCG) is affected by the above. The reason for this, is due to the fact that the new stuff we added in 4.5 is already appearing in other mods without us being credited for our work.

I like your mod a lot I really do. I have only one problem and it is on my side and I am at a loss at what to do. Your mod.........is INSANELY DIFFICULT!!! lol I like that it is but man, I can not beat even one mission! I am so overwhelmingly outnumbered in the Stalingrad campaign I truly have no clue what to do. All I can afford is a medium tank, one elite inf and one reg inf. The Soviets roll out with air support at least a dozen tanks and many inf squads. lol I am toast everytime!

Retreat and the soviets should have lesser amount of units in the next battle.

You could also lower the difficulty from hard to easy or medium (if you arent already playing on easy (in MoW settings)).

Remember that you can always try to hit the turrets of enemy tanks, and then they will abandon it and you can steal and repair it --- you can even do this towards your own allies, ie throw a handgrenade next to them (only on towed guns and mgs etc), watch the crew fly thru the air, and whilst they are doing so, you steal their guns, since you as the player, are usually more effective in using these guns than the AI is (who usually go for infantry before tanks).

But, some battles you simply can´t win and have to retreat. Personally I tend to stay away from the historical battles until I can afford some more units, like two or three medium tanks, one or 2 trucks (to haul supplies) and some infantry.

Oh i just realized that I am being dumb and startuing on the historical abttles when maybe as you say I should start just from a point on the calender? Here I was being dumb thinking the named maps would be more fun and now I see what I have been doing wrong. I have been doing the big history battles as my starting point! I hope I am taking what you said the right way friend!

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I am having a problem with the convoy mission. I sneaked in a group of chosen German troops into Russian territory, I destroyed the 2 armoured cars just before they left, the 2/3 trucks were about to leave, 1 soldier bailed out and the vechicles show as yellow markers (Empty) but the objective is not complete. Help?

I forgot to add I did destroy the trucks. Not use-able. I think, all crumpled up and AI bailed.

If I remember it correctly, this particular mission is somewhat buggy. I´ve had the same problem as you, and Jason1 (the coder) were supposed to check it out, but if he did, I don´t know.

Sometimes the mission seems to work correctly, and the next time it doesnt... :(

Thanks. If so, is there some sort of way to avoid that type of "special" mission? Also. The German units seem a bit more detailed. I like the touch with the decription unit ratings

You can avoid doing those type of missions by using the roll-down menu above the button "Start a New Campaign". Pick any of the choices except "Special Operations".

Not sure what you mean with the "bit more detailed" about the German units?

He means the large amount of troops with lots of detail in their descriptions when you choose them I would guess. Compared to say the U.S. they are much more detailed as he says. I thought the same thing! Very well done faction.

Unfortunately the team member (Kohlrabi) who did the German infantry and descriptions, had to leave for studies and he had just started on the other nations, which left us to finish them. We hasnt spent as much time on descriptions as he did, although I did add some descriptions to the Italian infantry when I created their infantry squads.

Weird. Now when I try to start Campaign.exe, it gives me a generic "Campaign.exe has stopped working" message.

Have you altered any of the xml files? The above error happens if you have made the slightest mistake on the xml files, ie. a misspelled word, or a left out > or < etc.

Best to do, is to always do backup copies of these files before altering any of them.

If you haven´t altered any xml files, the only time I have seen this generic error is when you´ve failed to install any of the three necessary subprograms, but since you´ve been playing DCG I don´t think that´s the problem... :)

I tried increasing the max range of the bazooka (Resource > Set > Stuff > Bazooka) by 10m, I just reinstalled the mod and it still does it. Haven't modified any XML files.

When I started my computer this morning, I got "Asus express gate failed to boot" or something along those lines. I'm thinking this might've caused some of those subprograms to crap out, is there a way to check if they're running?

Alright, I found the problem. I didn't replace settings.xml to avoid having to go through the process of setting it back up, when I opened it it was all "NULL NULL NULL". Sorted now.

It seems my save file was corrupt too :(

This is definitely the most useful mod I have discovered for Men of War. The ability to randomize a campaign and create a group of grizzled vets through many missions is very appealing. In fact according to Steam I've clocked over 800 hours on the game. This mod has kept the game fresh the whole time and in conjunction with the ability to alter model files I can basically apply this system with any war fighting scenarios that are available. Not balanced at all, retarded money system. After 3 rounds you will get spammed by enemy with 20 tanks vs your 3 inf squads or 1 tank ( that's all you can get because you can't get more resources....
