Taking the epic battles of the DUNE RTS series to the next level, Dune: Arrakian Wars is a Modification which completely turns Unreal Tournament 3 into a RTS-Game based in the Dune-Universe.
Taking full advantage of the possibility this engine offers, the projects aims at providing the best game play experience you ever had with a Dune game - both in terms of gameplay and graphics. Loosely based on Emperor: Battle for Dune, it features the 3 Great Houses Atreides, Harkonnen and Ordos in their fierce battle for power and control, as well as a number of Subhouses that try to use the conflict to their own advantage.

...comes great responsibility they say. Likewise, with a great engine comes the responsibility to use it properly. With the re-launch of the mod, many things have been put up for discussion again and so there's been a great deal of modifying, changing and recreating going on behind the scenes.
While we felt that the Ordos style was quite fitting even for the new engine, the Harkonnen have been focus of many design discussions lately. Some felt their units to be too bland, others saw them as mere toys and many agreed that while the existing design were quite good nonetheless, they lacked in representing Harkonnen's aggressiveness and focus on cruel efficiency. To illustrate the new style, concept artist gntlemanartist has come with one concept each to demonstrate the new designs for infantry, vehicles and structures.
First is the Outpost. This heavily fortified structure houses Harkonnen's most advanced surveilance technology, allowing commanders to monitor troop movement, coordinate multiple attacks simultaneously and keep track of everything that's happening on the battlefield.
While most Harkonnen troops are not more than cannon fodder, those that survive the madness and become battle-hardened veterans are tended to with great care. Equiped with heavy power armor and the most powerful weapons available, these skilled fighters usually lead the regular troops into battle.
The Aggressor Tank is house Harkonnen's workhorse for almost every situation. Heavily armored, mobile on every kind of terrain and armed with three repeating cannons, this tank can face every foe on the ground and is very likely to be victorious in most situations.
So much for Harkonnen's new art style. Make sure to check in again for our next update!

Oh, I can still remember what ccgx said when we cancelled RAR:
Somewhat like "That will never happen to DAW [because we are better organized than you]." ... so, just lol @ ccgx. Good to be back to earth, he?
Too bad for the whole project. Sorry guys.
cant see photos... gonna fix?
Nope, the Mod is dead, there were some major differences between the artists and coders so some of the artists left and deleted all their stuff.
shit... that is very bad... That is real tragedy :(
This looks good.
This is inspired by the novel, right? By Frank Herbert?
If it is, add the song "To Tame A Land" by Iron Maiden. If anyone gets the reference, you get an virtua-cookie. :D
That just looks amazing!
That all looks really awesome, can't wait to lay my hands on it. Two questions: 1) will u consider bringing the Houses/weapons a little bit closer to the Dune canon? Some of the Emperor's innovations (such as firearms) were pretty much unorthodox. 2)do u have any "hero" units planned?
for no. 1: what do you mean exactly?
for no. 2: well... kindof. nothing I can tell you now.
Well, less firearms/walkers, more sword combat and shields)
It's like... in the original novels swords are quite important and all the firearms are pneumatic, a-and no explosives are mentioned at all.
