Problem 1: Starting a new game takes me back to the main menu.
Solution: You tried to launch the mod through _eduke32.exe rather than DNF.bat, which is the correct file.
Problem 2: Graphics are messed up/I'm getting the "hall of mirrors" or "melted textures" effect.
Solution: Either you're missing DUKE3D.GRP, which must be in the same directory
as the mod, OR you did not install the mod to an empty directory. If you have
Duke3D on Steam, see the readme for the exact location of the GRP file.
Problem 3: When I enter a map, there's a Village People poster on my screen.
Solution: You're trying to run the mod in Polymer, an unsupported render system.
Find your eduke32.cfg file, open it and find the line where it says Polymer = 1.
Replace the 1 with a 0.
Nice guide. Thanks.
I think I saw something like that second screen shot in the sixties.
Are you implying my system is old? >:(
Nah, more a reference to the pharmaceuticals of that era. I can't call anybody or anything old, except maybe a Redwood, or the Rockies. I guess it's more like the third screenshot, really.{messed up graphics/hom}
I swore I thought the Village People solution was going to be "Listen to Village People."
when I ever use the DUKE3D.GRP I always go back to the main menu and I am running the DNF file! HELP!!!!
Are you using duke3d.grp from the atomic edition? it´s 43mb big.
could you elaborate on "install to an empty directory"?
i extracted the game to a empty file on my desktop and copied the duke3d.grp to there. the game runs fine but i still get that "Hall of mirrors" effect
beat the whole thing anyway great mod hope to see more added to it in the future
Well. I´m pretty sure you copied the wrong duke3d.grp then. Each Duke Nukem 3d version came with a different duke3d.grp, and here we require users to copy the atomic edition duke3d.grp. The best way to know if you got the right one is looking at its size. It should be 43mb. If it´s smaller (like 30mb), then it´s from an older version. Can´t believe you finished the mod with the wrong grp file. You must have missed tons of stuff.
Ahhhhhh that explains it.
I was using the .grp from the regular Duke 3D not Atomic Edition(i have the original disc version not the Steam or GOG one)
Thanks for the help i will fix it and replay the mod again to see what i missed.
Is it supposed to reset your weapons on each level? I saved at the start of the second level and when I load after a restart all I have is the pistol. Also if I started a new game it wouldn't reset the weapons.
There are no autosaves on this mod. If you die and restart the level, you´ll start with the pistol. A few levels come with some weapony at the start, in order to adhere the policy of "make each level playable by itself". But to your question: You need to save manually (pressing F6 by default).
How to run Duke in Mac os x 10.9
Mine stops at "loading direct draw" im running a 64-bit OS...
