In this mod of Duke Nukem 3D, Duke has a large variety of weapons and gadgets that upgrade as he uses them. As you progress through the game, you will encounter more powerful monsters to match your increased firepower. Based on the popular Duke Plus mod, War of Attrition incorporates many of the same features (including improved monster AI, bot allies, mirrored levels, damage effects, and more). Attrition also comes with over 100 high quality fan made levels and several game modes. Addictive with lots of replay value, Attrition showcases some of the best levels ever made for Duke 3D, adding new gameplay but keeping the essence of the original game intact.

The trip wire is by far the rarest and most useless weapon, even in vanilla duke, any chance it will be swapped by something more interesting and useful?

Did you know that you can stick it directly on a monster in Attrition? Also, it upgrades extremely fast.

I know but they are rarely seem in most maps just because of that; rare, boring and not effective, it's simply better, cooler and more dynamic to use a pipe bomb or rocket than plant the trap and bait enemies . They are much more useful on multiplayer maps though, which the mod doesn't support i guess. Can be useful in the WoA but i think they don't appear or i just ignore them because the situation demands more dynamic and fast-paced action. But now in retrospect, seeing that you can put more weapons than the game normally allow rather than taking one out to put another in, i can simply ignore them completely... which means i made a completely useless ranting... Damn.

The dual pistol full auto consumes 25 bullets instead of 24. I'm not sure but i believe this has been happening for a long time and you are probably aware. Is there something wrong with this or it just can't be fixed?

I forgot about that honestly -- it can be fixed. By the way there is an Attrition forum now for reporting bugs and stuff.

On the main site ( Fissile.duke4.net ) the version available for download is now 1.7 beta 1, I have tested and seen on the duke4 fourms that,yes,Development for Attrition has continued.

Just recently re-downloaded this mod again and coming across a bad startup glitch where it'll show only the Attrition title on bottom right hand area with no sound and a black start menu screen.

Press enter a couple of times and it crashes.

Is there a fix?

I can't believe this mod has a rating under 10, its incredible and really adds a simple effective system to Duke Nukem. I played through the arena-type missions and had a friggin' blast. Never has Duke Nukem or any game recently been that enjoyable. The installation is hassle free (unlike the other Duke Nukem mods) and runs efficiently well and smooth. I'll be playing this mod for months maybe even years to come.

10/10 easy...
