In times unremembered, it was found that each living entity had a power associated with it that science could not explain. This energy, best described as magic, could be manipulated and controlled, or extracted...
In these times Ket-Netar, ruler of the burning planet of Char was overthrown by his brother Veris-Rulatar. The planet Char orbited was dense and jungle like, and filled with life. Enough life that a crystal of life-power was forming deep under the crust. Veris wiped out all of the life on this planet, extracting the power for himself, and gaining the power to overthrow, but not destroy, his brother. Veris then used his new found power to move the planet Char to orbit the next planet in that bi-solar system, vanquishing and acquiring much as he had done to the planet Char originally orbited. For long periods the dread planet, as it became known as, would drift through space, seeking out the next world to prey upon.
As his brothers power grew out of hand, Ket-Netar fled deep into the mountains to find refuge. It was there that he discovered the lush valleys on Char that none had ever discovered, as well as a greater secret. Inhabitants of one of the planets Char had destroyed were living in this valley, in the one place Veris would not think to look for them... his own planet.
Not only were they living there, but their mages were using their powers to transport large groups of people off of the planets Veris orbited while he was destroying them.
Ket-Netar set up a secret operation to harvest power from these people in brutal "Soul Factories" he built throughout the valley. The people of the valley gave resistance and battled him, but it was mutual that both sides remain undetected by Veris, lest he destroy the people and Ket-Netars armies of twisted monsters.
In this manner, a war waged on for hundreds of years between Ket-Netar and the people of the valley. Kingdoms and histories were established, and times changed, but the war was un-ending. Long winters of pitch darkness while the planet traveled were interrupted by shorter periods of orbit around planets Veris was destroying.
The people of the valley continually saved masses of the populations into their own cities, and sought out their greatest heroes.
These heroes were assigned the highest of tasks, fighting in the war against Ket-Netar. This became known as the Doom Hunt, as many heroes never returned once they set out.
You are one of these heroes, looking up at your home planet in the sky as it is destroyed by Char, and knowing you can never go back... you choose all that is left...
you choose...
The Doom Hunt....

We have taken advantage of the GoldSrc engine being open-source now, so the map sizes have been expanded to an epic scale. The City of Reasha now has vast landscapes that the player can level in beyond the gates of the city, and the need for a level change between the wilderness and town has been eliminated.

The images and video have footage from all of the Doom Hunt builds past and present. Sven Co-op 3.5 was an old build, but Doom Hunt is now standalone.
