Any major differences since 2.7 to save me going through the release notes?

Thanks for replying.
Hey, I've had this problem a few times now.
After installing the full 2.2GB download from here, I got the problem again.
Then I uninstalled and completely reinstalled BFG Edition, then applied the file. Everything from scratch.
Same problem.
Everything looks too bright and too harsh, and this happens a lot. Never with the base game though. Only with Hi Def.
*Sometimes* though, it doesn't happen, and I have no idea what causes it.
Take a look:

in the console type set r_exposure "0.2" or 0.1 and turn down the brightness in settings

Yeah it *seems* more like an exposure thing than a brightness thing.

When I turn the in-game brightness slider down to nothing,
it's still *slightly* too bright, and there's too much contrast and punch to the colours.
All the dark things are dark enough, but the bright things are still too bright.

-EDIT-
Actually, it's much more than just a brightness or exposure issue.
Everything looks muddy and horrible, even with brightness and exposure turned way down.

for some reason I'm not seeing any of the pictures that are displayed. Hardly any difference really everything pretty much looks the same as vanilla bfg edition for some reason. Got the steam version though on win10 gtx 780
