Based on the Harry Turtledove novel of the same name. Set in 1915, the continent of North America has been divided into 21 factions.

I think Utah and a small area around them. Should be the Deseret or The State Of Deseret. As they would be unlikely to side with any side for religious reasons and would definitely be Independent if this was the nation.

And maybe some cool names for titles. I can give some now.

California Commonwealth

Missourian Republic

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Cuban Florida should just be 'New Cuba' if you are gonna go that route.

And one of the Northeast factions can be "New England"

Dakotan Compact

Would definitely like some outside influences, like the British, French, Germans getting involved as well.

California should remain Californian Republic/Republic of California though.

Honestly thinking of adding things like Canada, the British Empire, Germany, etc. in a later update. Maybe.

This vid about the book has a good map in it. I realize you cant do all the factions(32 on that map) but I wish the west was broken up.

You should get rid of the three New England factions, New Hampshire, New York and Mass. And combine them into one.

I can even do any writing related things if needed.(For the western Utah based faction called New Deseret.) Then add two factions in between Texas and CA since they will already be overpowered enough.

The boarders should be less square. If the warring factions are constantly at each other's throats, than border would change really fast. Other than that it's good.

Suggestions: San Antonio is surrounded by the Texas Republic, and while they are screwed either way (if not in an alliance), they should be a protectorate of Mexico. Simply put, Mexico gets tribute, trade, and military access to San Antonio, and in return Mexico protects it from the Republic (Unless the republic is friendly towards SA).

As the U.S is basically dead and gone, the issue of slavery should arise. States originally part of the Union in the 1860's should view pro-slavery states with hostility, and in Pro-slavery territories we should see slave working in the fields and be able to purchase our own for something like a speed bonus on the over-world map, as the troops won't have to carry anything with the slaves around to do it. Additionally, Alabama could be used as a bigger "what if" in this what if tale; what if the black population took power from the whites and A. enslaved them, or B.exiled them. It would be interesting to see such a faction.

New Hampshire looks like it's gonna need some help if Massachusetts and/or New York want them dead. The Mounties, perhaps?

No doubt about it, the Western states are the big boys, but they might have a though time against the likes of New York you we divide them into tech categories.
The Western states have the man power, wealth, and decent melee damage, but lack advanced tech like machine guns or automatic weapons in general.
Central states (and partially Texas) have good cav and skirmishers but lack in good infantry.
States in the lower south where swaps or Forests are conman should have good skirmishers and melee, but have poor cav and decent line infantry.
eastern states should have more advanced weapons, superior infantry, and decent cav, but poor melee and manpower.

1915 was a magical time for warfare, but remember that no matter who these faction support, none would know the horrors of the trenches, and would likely begin their battles using the old tactics before wising up and digging in.

Sorry for the text wall, and I hope some of these helped spark your creativity. But in the end, it's your mod, and I hope your vision become reality. You earned yourself a follower.

WHAT, OHIO AS PART OF MICHIGAN?! OH HELL NO! In the novel Ohio was it's own state and got into it with Virginia.
