Dino D-Day is an exciting new First Person Shooter from 800 North (AKA Digital Ranch Interactive). This is an HL2:OB mod that has served as a prototype for a commercial release we are currently in the final stages of preparing. It is playable though we have not been supporting it for several months as we've focused all of our efforts on the commercial product. The commercial release is slated for March 1, 2011 only on Steam. It is a fast-paced multiplayer game with 12 playable classes including 3 dinosaurs. You've played World War II games...but have you played a World War II game with dinosaurs?
This is the trailer that recently aired on GTTV with Geoff Keighley. Hope you enjoy! We'll try and get some more videos for you between now and release.
Finally. GTTV's player hasn't been working for me for some reason... now I just gotta wait for it to process...
To be perfectly honest, Dino D-Day was a funny concept and excecuted fine... for a mod.
But now that you have a team togther, taking peoples hard earned cash (regardless of the amount, it had to be earnt) you really need to make the assets look better.
Visuals dont make a game, i know that, believe me i do, but those guns, there is virtually no life to then, same with the humans anims, the textures on a lot of stuff look extremely weird and the models are quite a bit out if proportion. and some sounds.
I hope that the visuals are your last priority after the code, because having moderate assets is one thing that is acceptable, but small details like animation make a huge difference to appeal.
Either way im still buying because the mod was ******* funny.
(buried)
Steam release doesnt mean it costs money.
They SAID it would cost money...
Good thoughts. We'll make it look as good as we can, haven't focused much on visuals until recently. The game will look better than you see in the trailer...
Heck, if you ever Need an animator, i shall send you my portfolio.
always looking for talented people... :)
+1 good comment.
love the first half of the trailer... just some of the "reloading" animations are a bit filthy. the second half showes that the concept and gameplay mechanics are working but also that the visuals still need work.
keep it up, i tested the first release back in the days and loved it. :)
:O very good
Oh Sweet, Multiplayer!
Quick Question,
Can we play as T-rex?
still working on that...probably won't be in the game initially. We're trying to come up with some game modes that incorporate big dinosaurs in a fun and interesting way.
Please fix Game Balance as well, in that case. And I want to have both Multiplayer and Single PLayer in once game. By the way, why did you decide to start selling it? Why not just release it as a mod on Steam? You can put mods on Steam in addition to full games.
Awesome!
Once Again! I think I may of jizzed my pants because of this mod....
Why the lack of shadows in the trailer?
Why the lack of quality animations? :S That being said, I'll still play it. FEAR has TERRIBLE animations but is still a very good game.
it's a long answer that I can't go into but suffice it to say that there will be shadows on players in the game, full reflections in water, etc.
dino vs humans awesome:P
Aside from the weapons and weapon animations, everything is looking very nice. :)
Loved the mod and the trailer for the commercial release looks even better
this looks absolutely ridiculous
but in a positive manner ofcours
I know this wasn't made for be realistic, but I was expecting at least a more real gameplay in this unreal world... I mean, you are killing dinos with single punches and throw them several meters away?
loved that crazy ideas, the posters, really everything... sadly the gameplay it's too much childish for my taste...
make it real man! doesn't matter how crazy it's the story, make us believe it anyway... like the video shows simply lost all the magic you created with the videos, posters, etc... at least for me. :/
