Dino D-Day is an exciting new First Person Shooter from 800 North (AKA Digital Ranch Interactive). This is an HL2:OB mod that has served as a prototype for a commercial release we are currently in the final stages of preparing. It is playable though we have not been supporting it for several months as we've focused all of our efforts on the commercial product. The commercial release is slated for March 1, 2011 only on Steam. It is a fast-paced multiplayer game with 12 playable classes including 3 dinosaurs. You've played World War II games...but have you played a World War II game with dinosaurs?

Nazis. Dinosaurs. Someone has finally put them together in a First Person Shooter.

Posted by c_b_fofep on Nov 12th, 2009

As part of a general announcement to the gaming community of Dino D-Day, a First Person Shooter we hope to release on Steam in 2010, we've made an HL2 mod version of the game available on ModDB. We invite community feedback which will be invaluable as we continue to develop the commercial release of the game!

We're making this mod available to the community to generate excitement around the game of course, but also to open the development process up to the mod/gamer community. By way of introduction, let me first tell you all that this is our first foray into this type of video game development. I myself moved to Los Angeles seven years ago to be a filmmaker. After producing some documentary television series I got hooked up with Valve and suddenly found myself thrust into the world of video game development.

Transforming oneself from a television producer into a game designer is no easy task and I give a lot of credit to the modding community for helping the Dino D-Day team (and especially me) make the jump. I didn't have an ounce of experience in modding or game design before taking on this project, yet with tutorials, tutorials, and general modding community support I'm now a semi-competant game programmer and designer.

The mod is basically a "prototype" for the full game. In it we endeavored to go through the process of building and laying out levels, coding some basic weapons and AI, inserting custom models and animations, and giving a basic sense of story. The full game will of course be longer and more ambitious but this should give you a general feel of what we're going for.

Hopefully making this mod available to the community and opening up the development process is a way for the Dino D-Day team to give back. We invite your open and honest criticism. We'll make regular reports on our progress and hopefully make you all feel a part of the development process.

I look forward to your input. Until then, go kill some Nazi dinosaurs!

Check gameinfo.txt. If you don't have Ep2 installed you might need to change the AppId. I hear that "218" is working for people that don't have the Orange Box. Haven't tried it myself though...

You bastards, you're so stealing treyarch's plotline for COD7! Or are they doing aliens? Good idea for a mod though, I'll give this a try.

Just finished playing the 1.1 version, was fun but I noticed 2 things, 1 the first medium dino (antguard replacement one) would not attack me so i just sat there and threw grenades at it till it died, the other was the reload bit, idk if thats a glitch or not but just trying to help you out a little, great game cant wait for more :D

Funny idea, cool theme, great setting and nice looking map and models.

Unfortunately my game experience wasn't very enjoyable though. I found myself walking around for what felt like too long trying to find the intended route, and often finding it hidden away in the most unexpected places.

This isn't be so bad if a path were to lead to a secret area, but trying to find the main path and having to walk (often back-tracking) for long distances isn't very interesting and can be frustrating. It was nice admiring the mapping and details though.

I noticed some sounds from Day of Defeat and DoD:Source in there, did you get permission to use them? :)

Top idea though and well pulled off with good quality artwork. This game has potential for some real fun!

Totaly hate it, one of the only mods for source ive ever played and hated, the weapons are buggy in so many ways, the npcs behave like combine the beginning is a ******* hl2dm motd....that doesnt even show up in half of the screen resolutions properly, the first 5 minutes of playing i got out of the map (add some damned player clips) and if your going to do anything german get someone who speaks german first, the gameplay is awful your shooting skinned cps and ant guards.... overall this mod gets a 2 out of 10 for having decent models (that im sure you got from facepunch or garrysmod.org)

I just pre-purchased on steam and was wondering:

Will there be long term support? (like TF2)
Are you adding single player sometime down the line?
release date April _ 2011?
