3rd Energy Research Facility

Dino Crisis Source

Now we all remember the very classic game Dino Crisis 1 on the old PS1 games console. We all remember how some parts it use to scare the crap out of us because of the music or because of a Velociraptor jumping out of a gap in the wall. Now you can play the whole game again in todays graphics. XenoTech Productions plan to re-create the entire game removing the original layout but keeping the original story. As a whole we are re-creating the nighmare of the Third Energy Research Facility. Join the XenoTech Productions group to chat to us. So keep an eye on us because you never know we might just make the nightmare even more terrifying for you.

This looks like a very interesting project! I loved the original Dino Crisis to bits, sequel was nice too, but more arcadelike. If you're casting new VO for this when you get to that point instead of using the old voice files, let me know, I'd love to work on this :D

Dino Crisis 1 mod, huh? Well! That was a favorite of mine. Hope to see this lift off the ground, and shoot its way into space. Not like many others that didn't even get to taking baby steps, or ended up having a load of work finished only to explode, while fiery debris falls to the ground.

Good luck to ya!

If you manage to pull this off it will be damn sweet. Loved Dino Crisis 1 and 2 on PS1...........What's that? Resident Evil with Dinosaurs?????? Sold.

Also had the same feeling with Onimusha 1........What's that?????Resident Evil with Samurai Demons???? Sold.

Someone should make an Onimusha Source mod. :-)

I have never played that game but this mod really seems to be able to pull this off so far.

Pfft. Seriously, why would you remake the game as it was? (Yeah yeah custom weapons, thats it?) I was just playing Dino Crisis on PSX this summer, and the game works excellent on emulators as well. What's the point?

Second of all, sure it's easy to slap couple of maps together, but when it comes to the actual hard parts like modeling and animating dinos and characters, not to mention coding the inventory system etc, thats what you have to work with if you want to get serious with the mod.

All I can only say good luck with it, millions of mods start out like you guys and only few finish...

I see you're an expert modder yourself and are fully qualified to talk about how easy it is to make maps.

It's true that this is hardly an original concept, but I for one would like to play Dino Crisis in FPS without the terrible controls of the original.

Was that sarcasm? Well anyway I've been with ModDB since 2006 (as have you, props for that) and done Quake II and HL1 mapping and skins even before that, then moved on HL2 (mainly mapping) when it came out. I know a thing or 2 about mapping and modeling has been my hobby since early 2000's, you'd best not to question if I'm qualified. I don't mean to brag.

In fact, aside from coding (I can manage simple editing like removing the headcrabs from zombies etc, but not really coding new stuff without further educating myself) I could pretty much make mods on my own. But I have chosen to spend my time and resources on my spouse, family, music, work and university, (in that order probably :p) and I'm happy with it.

Still, I'm interested in what other people are working on and I feel I can give them some pointers, which I feel is the whole point of ModDB.

During my time I've seen MANY promising mods rise and fall but I've always remained realistic and objective on if the mods are going to ever reach releasing stage or not. Still I wish the best to even those that don't seem too promising.

My only concern is that too many mods go public too early and they get so many peoples hopes up. The public can't let go. Go see Resident Evil: Twilight project page. It's been dead 2 years and they still getting spammed by upset people.
