Deus Ex was a successful and very customizable game. But what about the fact everyone had the same exact type of pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, etc. What about the fact that some ammo types were completely under powered compared to their real life counter parts. Now you can enjoy Deus Ex with a more modern arsenal of weapons, including revamped and updated vanilla weapons. Enhanced AI, some maps are revamped, new weapons (More assault rifles, pistols, snipers, and explosives than you can shake a stick at.) , new ammo types (includes unique ammo types such as flame rounds, Armor Piercing and high yield explosive rockets).

Getting Started- Make a copy of your Deus Ex folder, though it may not be ideal. You will be dragging the mod files and replacing everything that conflicts, Make a back up of your Map and System folder for this reason.
I would strongly suggest the newest Shifter, New Vision, HDTP, and Updated Deus Ex Renderer/Textures all avaliable on Mod DB. The Enhanced pack fixes the scope size.

Any errors or bugs? Please report them if possible. Go to the thread viewtopic.php?f=36&t=11435 and feel free to post or PM me. Captain_Destro is my user name. Also let me know if you enjoy it, or if any weapons seem over/under powered.

Finally I would like to thank the offtopicproductions and alpha communities for all the help they have given me. I wanted to thank Naveos, Jonas, Miguel and DDL for the help so far, answering my stupid questions, etc.

Thanks to the authors of the Cassandra Project, Thanks to Clyzm for his model work @ Alpha Labs, and further more I want to thank the HDTP/TNM staff for their enhanced models/code. TNM Pistol/Rifle Upgrades are functional.

You can expect new weapons (old weapons are touched up to support fast paced combat.), new ammo types (and more types branching off those, hollow points, incidinery rounds, high yield explosive rockets, etc), a few revamped maps, more secret items, the ability to give more NPCs items.

The AI on enemies has been greatly enhanced, stealth is still possible but much more difficult. The Alert times is also increased, I tried making it some what realistic so that AI doesn't have the short term memory of a gold fish.

Misc:
Expect a mini mod for TNM. It won't remove weapons as drastically as this did for Vanilla DX. But it will modify existing ones and add better AI/Introduce more weapons.

I first of all need to apologize for basically falling off the face of the earth. Life happens, but I'm planning on releasing something good by next year.

One release will be improvements and additions to the Modern Combat Mod. Instead of Shifter/Biomod however, I was debating on going with the unifiedDeusEx in their place. It combines both mods, while having a few enhancements.

I also want to make this HDTP compatible as well.

Modern Combat To do list:
-Add Martial Arts from TNM
-Revamp Pistol/Rifle Category (Stockless Subguns will be added to pistols, while stocked subguns will remain rifles.)
-Add More Ammo Categories (There will be several different caliber glock's/Mac10's as well.)
-Add stuff like Dual 1911's(from TNM)/Dual MP5's
-Add More Demolition type weapons
-Add Guns such as the Bolt Action WW2 Rifles, 1911's, WW2 Machine Guns (They won't be all over the place, aside from the 1911's and Mosin Nagants. these are pretty common IRL here in the U.S.) Expect European WW2 weapons to be found somewhere in France ;) , and sparingly state side.
-Add Heavy/Light Machine Guns
-Change AR Rifle Models to something that doesn't look terrible.
-Add Large Bore Rifles (Barret 50BMG, Etc)
-Will have some futuristic weapons in moderation however. But they might not be found until you progress to MJ12 Facilities/Black Ops type areas.
-Fix Numerous Bugs.

One other release will be simply and utterly ridiculous. So expect a Ludicrous weapons mod as well.
Weapons such as:
The GEC (Guided Explosive Cat) Launcher
Throwing Wrenches
Pool Ball Grenade Launcher
Pigeon Machine Guns
Stinky Fish Bombs
Flame Thrower Pepper Spray
Etc

No throwing foons/sporks unless it's by request. Off Topic Productions already did that one.

I'm shooting for a January 5th release date.

Hello. I installed this mod after installing New Vision, HDTP and Biomod 1.0 (which comes with Shifter 1.84 built in) but the Modern Combat mod just screwed up the Shifter/Biomod so that the default running speed is as fast as in the Vanilla DX (Whereas with the Biomod you start off a little slower because the Swimming skill now determines running speed) and I can't use the Alternate firing mode.

Do you think you can update it to add in biomod features? Because I really want to do stealth.

I will give it a shot but, in return you might lose the ability to use fire rounds, flaming darts, and explosive 10mm. I'll come up with something else to replace them maybe. I'm thinking Nonlethal Shotgun ammo and such.

Also it might be non shifter compatible as well.

So I have the steam version of Deus Ex. I installed everything properly, but when I went to run the game after I installed it, it said I required the CD to play it. Is this mod Steam compatible?

An easy fix is to do this.

Open the Deus Ex.ini
Edit the following, copy and paste the directory to where Deus Ex is installed.
CdPath=

So as an example
CdPath=C:DeusEx

The game should run, this was an old fix pre-steam that made it so a CD wasn't needed to run. The included .exe file should allow you to run Deus Ex without steam running. It also fixes some speed issues multi-core CPUs have with the game.

It's an easy fix for steam users.

Great mod. I'm having a hard time choosing between the weapons to keep and the ones to leave behind. :)

Looks interesting! Deus Ex' weapons never, ever bothered me, to me they're an unessential part of the game, even though it's sometimes fun to shoot some MJ12 troops. But it's nice to see some new ones you're creating!

It's more of a Co-Lab of weapons, though the style still looks Deus Ex-ish. Really it's because of modders like Clyzm,HDTP, Cassandra project this was possible.

It's sad the Cassandra project ended up dying but some of the weapons can live on this way.

Also if you are a nonlethal/stealth player I did add in a Sniper Rifle capable of firing darts at good distances. Though i feel bad it's the only one non lethal weapon, out of how many weapons released. I did want to add less than lethal ammo for shotguns but you can only have so many ammo types.

It does make your enemies much more dangerous though, Along with the AI tweaks.

The tranq rifle is a nice addition :) I think for less lethal ammo you can target shotguns, grenade launchers to have such.
This is a bit a shame that deus ex is limited up to 3 ammo types. I think you can replace the dragon breath ammo with rubber ammo for the shotguns, or make one of the current shotguns being a dedicated non lethal shotgun with 3 non lethal ammo.
For me the mod is pretty good so far, there is some bugs here and there, but it works pretty fine.

I find the weapons the best thing of the Cassandra project
(I find the rest good too, the weapons superb though). I find Deuse Ex 1 lacking in the weapons section (somewhat ugly models), that is why mods like these make Deus Ex 1 perfect for me.
