Maintains the general plot of Invisible War, but tries to make the transition between it and Deus Ex a bit more coherent than the original. The story will be completely different, iow, but the essential plot will be the end goal (basically the endings will be similar), and Chad Dumier does not turn into a despotic ruler, etc.

I'm a solo struggling un and underemployed college graduate, and it would be a dream if I could focus on this mod, so please donate if you have the interest and ability! The sooner I finish this, the sooner we can topple (what I believe to exist) an actual global conspiracy!:

Credit should be given to individuals involved in TNM (The Nameless Mod), as they have shared in resources and editing knowledge. As well as other mods from which their mod benefited, such as Carone. Credit should also be given to the varying pantheon of gods of the DX modding community like Ded of 2027, etc., and especially the lovely Veronika who created the DX-compatible Ued2 editor. Credit should also be given to the developers of both DX and DX:IW. Rene' of Eidos Montreal has given such mods a 'go ahead':

"This is completely okay! If you're using unique assets and will not try to sell it commercially, there's no problem!"

Personally Deus Ex 2 wasn't a bad game, but yeah I think some revision and some going back on the roots of the original in therms of gameplay is a good thing. The game missed a lot of things while got a few things right compared to the other DX games.
Good luck with this mod and I hope it will end up to be awesome

Really glad there's going to be some fresh paint on the story alongside the environments. Deus Ex 1's backstory felt a lot more relevant and relatable, compared to how IW's felt like outright dime-a-dozen kooky sci-fi novel politics.

Tracking. Should be interesting to see what your take on the main hubs are. I'd like to explore a version of Seattle, Trier and Cairo that doesn't amount to a few corridors. In fact, any level of design would be better than what Ion Storm gave to us. :)

I'd donate if I could but I'm in the same situation: no work and not enough money.

I personally liked the storyline on IW, however I did not like the way it was delivered, there was too much action placed within the game and not enough technicality, such as the way you could actually type the code into the keypad, simplistic yet gives you a feel of realism, anyway back to the storyline, I think what it mainly missed was the fact that everything felt more linear than its predecessor when a true DX fan would like a game that challenges their instincts and force them to rethink their strategy each play through, as a change in weapons may require the player to use this option. I wish you all the best in remaking this game :)

There needs to be more remakes of bad games. Too many games are remade just to milk the popularity of the originals. It's nice to see a disappointment be given a second chance.

Exactly! Some time ago I decided to test IW and played it for a few hours straight. At one point I just couldn't go on, because the game's atmosphere is just so wrong, depressing and non-DX-like. It felt like any ****** up "one of five stars" game. They could've made the game a lot better, even though the developers weren't the same as in DX.

I was able to play through DE2, probably because I'm not really attached to DE1. After the glaringly obvious flaws in DE2, the wasted potential of the game was it's biggest flaw. At times it even did things too similarly to DE1, such as the plot. Admittedly I did like the music.

Indeed, Deus Ex 2 missed the atmosphere and the unique dialogue that made Deus Ex 1 unique. The augmentation to completely take over enemy turrets and bots was satisfying though.
