The year is 2055, more than thirty years after the events of Zero Hour, Earth suffers a catastrophic collision with meteorites. The world is thrown into turmoil as large swathes of land are annihilated. Four factions, the ADF (Asian Democratic Federation), WEA (West European Alliance), WLF (World Liberation Front), and AC (American Confederacy) are at war for control of the remaining already harder to find resources as well as the preservation of their nations and geopolitical interests. IMHO:
This Sabretooth has a rather BORING weapon, a gattling gun! So original :/! There are so many other things, like Shotguns, Nailguns, Sawlike Projectiles, than why this Gattling?

is the future really doomed to having tiny plates of armour with bolts all over it making up a tank? or have we ran out of welders?

A) Its a game B) its an old game so high detailed textures dont render very well C) Its meant to be similar to the texturing theme of ZH D) Im the only one who does the skins as you can see, so I cant spend days texturing one high res texture.

I do like the tank's design. But considering that it will be an infantryman's worse nightmare, maybe you could add some warpaint, such as the infamous "Shark" warpaint on some current A10s and Cobras?

But on this 1, it'll look awesome because its already got a pointed hull at the front, and doing it in scratched white paint will make it look even more bad-*** =D

And can i suggest upping the caliber to 14.5 mm? The barrels look too big for 12.5 mm rounds.

The_Swimmer Jan 21 2010, 11:41pm replied:

They're thick barrels, as are often seen on vehicles. The reason that barrels on infantry weapons are only a little thicker than the round they fire is weight: on a vehicle that's not a concern, so thicker barrels can be used for greater consistency under increased heat (the gattling design decreases heat, it doesn't eliminate it).

Correct, EC is not a realism-based mod. That gives us a lot more scope for original and high tech weapons. :P

And is it a typo that it's 12.5 mm? .50 is 12.7 mm.

Ok ... to all of you who keep saying **** about the gattling weapon stuff. First of all gattling weapons is the type of weapon not the ammunition. Futuristic doesn't equal only pew pew type of weapons but also advanced ammo. Why change something that works incredibly efficient for centuries just for the 'love of pew pew weapons'. Yes it's a gatt weapon but it fires state of the art 'future shells' with better/higher penetration, damage ratio etc. Hell in the future you will probably just see abrams tanks firing plasma shells. Cause it's the ammo that is THE MOST IMPORTANT, not some glowing lights cannon design.

Description

The Confederacy's tank divisions are unarguably among the best in the world. A single American tank division is a superbly weighted instrument, with enough tanks and guns to singlehandedly win a war with most countries. And because almost no nation is willing to risk even their best tanks against the American's own, and because many of their early enemies during the South American campaigns lacked the armor that Tanks were built to fight, America has the Sabertooth. Yes, tank guns will shred infantry and HMG's mounted to tanks in Co-Axial positions can be lethal, but they simply aren't fast enough to fight against modern infantry armed with anti tank weapons. The response to this was the development of this vehicle. An excellent anti-infantry platform, its single Gattling gun, while perhaps resembling an implement from America's first expansion, is actually dreadfully well suited to it's second. Electronically powered, and belt fed from ammo boxes running alongside the gunners position, the gun spits out 12.5 Millimeter rounds at 3000 RPM, capable of dealing with Infantry or APC's with ease. In addition, the Sabertooth is faster than mainline Confederacy tanks, allowing it to move through the brush alongside Infantry units with ease, yet armored enough to survive multiple RPG hits. Essentially, a handful of Saber's, mixed with Tanks and Infantry, will make a force to be reckoned with.
