Decadence is a 2 vs. 2 multiplayer first-person shooter that combines the personal relationship to characters and surroundings of single-player games with an adrenaline filled multiplayer experience. Decadence pits two teams against each other in a fight over territorial control. Each map is designed in small stages to offer more compact and action filled gameplay that puts focus on teamwork.
This is personal, and it's essential. Four players on two teams - four characters of two classes, nothing more. The character you pick is for you, and you alone. Your choice will give you specific strengths which in combination with those of your teammate will allow you to win the map. The environment is key to survival, providing cover from enemy fire as you advance towards the capture zone. Remember to keep your team tight, you're good not only as an extra hand in combat but can also revive your teammate if they were to get shot down. The story of Decadence takes you into the future, to a world where governments are lost and survival is all that matters. Various attempts to draw out the very last resources have lead to poisonous chemicals flowing through bodies of water, creating civil unrest over the availability of clean water.
Matches are played with four players total, so your actions as a player are of the utmost importance. There are four unique characters over two classes with their own set of advantages, weaponry and play style.
You are able to regenerate your health back up again if you're hurt in battle, just rest behind a cover for a few moments and you'll be back on your feet in no time. It is certainly not the end of the match if the bullets happen to get to you. Your trustworthy teammate should always be close by to get you back on track ready to fight.
There is a constant struggle to secure the checkpoints in each area of the map, however, Decadence is focused and compacted into one area at a time to give the players the most concentrated doze of action possible. When a checkpoint is captured, the game will move over to the adjacent area in favor to the winning team. The team that is able to push their way to the enemy base and capture it wins the match.
Decadence certainly brings unprecedented visuals to the Source engine, both in terms of art direction but also by pushing the very limits of the code base itself. Without compromising feedback the HUD in Decadence lives in the game world itself instead of some overlay, sustaining the suspension of disbelief. Through such a strict HUD policy combined with aforementioned graphics we're able to provide you an incredible beauty and detail, further improving your play experience.
