Decadence is a story-driven multiplayer modification based on Valve Software's Source Engine that combines the personal relationship to characters and surroundings of single-player games with an adrenaline filled multiplayer experience. Decadence pits two teams against each other in a fight over territorial control. Each map is designed in stages to offer a more compact and action filled gameplay that puts focus on teamwork and strategy.
Decadence is multiplayer with personality, where you play as one of four different characters. The character you pick is specifically for you and will give you certain weapons and other advantages, and you need to use every single one of them together in combination with your teammate to succeed. The environment will also be key to survival, providing cover from enemy fire as you advance towards their flag. Staying close to your teammate is vital in Decadence. They are able to help you in many ways, not only as an extra hand in combat, but they can also revive you if you get shot down.
The story of Decadence takes you far into the future, to a world where governments are scarce and survival is all that matters. Various attempts to grow food have lead to poisonous chemicals flowing through bodies of water, and plants growing in ways never thought to be possible. Promising a heavily atmospheric world and an interesting twist on team-driven gameplay, Decadence is a unique multiplayer experience that the most casual online gamers and most hardcore FPS gamers can enjoy together.
Four Distinct Characters
Matches will be played out with four players, so your actions as a player and as a team are of the outmost importance. There are four unique characters with their own set of advantages, weaponry and style.
Revival and Regenerative Health
You are able to regenerate your health back up again if your hurt in battle, just rest behind a cover for a few moments and you'll be up on your feet in no time. It is certainly not the end of the match if the bullets happen to get to you. Your trustworthy team-mate should always be close to hand to get you back on your feet again and fit for fight.
Push style gameplay
There is a constant struggle to secure the checkpoints in each area of the map, however, the game will be focused and compacted into one area at the time to give the players the most adrenaline powered game possible. When a checkpoint is captured, the game will move over to the adjacent area next to that. The team who can push their way to the enemy base and capture it wins the match.
No HUD
Decadence will not feature a large HUD with information; you will instead be able to read out all the information from the game world itself. Everything from ammunition, damage and sights will be seen as if they would be in the world, not on an overlay over your eyes.

Decadence has been in a playable state for a quite some time now, but we've reached a point in development where we need the input and feedback from others who are not actively working on the mod to see the mod in another light. We have been conducting game testing with everyone who swung by our office, but we haven't been near this scale before. So very interesting times are ahead!
The current testing team consists of 31 people from various backgrounds. Some are professional game developers, others are experienced Source modders and we threw in a couple of friends in the mix just for good measure. These selected 31 are divided into six groups which are totally independent from each other, meaning that they can conduct testing by their own force without worrying about organizing games between large groups of players. It helps that Decadence is built around two players versus two players, so getting a game up and running is very easy. We hope to get a wide range of feedback from these groups based on their various backgrounds.
The testing is pretty intense with a new version of Decadence being released every other week until release.
I talked a bit about usability and the ease of play by using abstract visual elements in the last news post. Visual elements such as icons to represent events or objects in the game world are now implemented and are doing wonders for the game. We added three new indicators to the game, and while these don't seem to impact the game too much in the first glimpse, they actually make the game much easier for player. We had to rely on our voices to speak to each other in order to come up with a strategy on the fly, but with the icon to indicate where your teammate is, it's now possible to time and execute an attack without speaking or chatting. The second icon will be represented on the screen is a icon to show you where the Water Node you need to capture is located. The Water Node is the most important object in the game, so knowing where it's located is vital! Capturing is made easier with the newly added yellow and black warning stripe around the capture zone to indicate where you are able to stand while still capturing the Water Node.
We will continue to work on making Decadence user friendly based on the feedback we get from the vigorous testing ahead! For more information, visit us at www.decadencemod.com

Japp, det är vi! Om vi inte räknar med att vi outsourcar ljud och musik då.
In English: He asked if we're all Swedes. The answer: Yes, pretty much.
A quote about weapons interests me.
"... you need to use every single one of them together in combination with your teammate to succeed."
Do you have to combine the use of your own weapons or do you have to combine the use of your and your teammates weapons? How exactly does this work?
What more kind of features does the mod have to encourage teamplay?
What I meant with the weapons is that you and your team mate need to coordinate your attack in order to out-flank and surprise your enemy.
We work a lot with game balance (damage, rate of fire, spread and so on) to get the characters right and to encourage teamplay. We don't actually actively force players into teamplay, but it's something that comes naturally. If you want to move into position with Echo, you'd probably need Zoe to keep your back while you're advancing. Also, if you find yourself alone as Zoe (long distance weapon) you'd like to move up to a higher position where you arent as vulnerable to Echo "The steam train"'s charge attacks.
Other than the natural balance of the gameplay, we do have features that allows you to capture the water node faster if you're two in proximity of the water node console.
Also, we do have a revive system in place so if you're shot down and your team mate is around, you have the chance of fast getting into the action again... if your team mate manage to get to you in time that is.
