Death Wish is a massive new Blood campaign that has been under development since January 2010 and has finally been released. Every level is highly polished, and you may even see a few Mapedit tricks you never thought possible! The creator is a long-time Build veteran who has pulled out all the stops to make this the most amazing, original user content for Blood ever released.

Features

  1. Over 30 levels spread out across 3 episodes, which includes secret levels and transition levels for flowing smoothly back into the main campaign.
  2. 6 new cut scenes, appearing at the beginning and end of each episode explaining the story and its developments throughout the course of the game.
  3. New story, taking place after the events of the original Blood and its add-ons while staying within the same mythology.
  4. The Tome message system, giving the player hints and story tidbits during play to further deepen the story and reveal hints or secrets.
  5. All the levels have been adapted to be playable in Co-Op mode, so you and up to 7 other friends can tackle Death Wish together.
  6. All levels include modified enemy and item placement depending on difficulty settings for added replay value. Even long-time Blood pros will find a challenge in Death Wish's brutal Extra Crispy setting.
  7. A very detailed plain-text Walkthrough is included. It is split into 2 sections: One with the basic player path discussed and the other revealing all available secrets.
  8. A Commentary text file is included, revealing the creator and lead QA tester's thoughts on Death Wish and its content.
  9. A detailed README file is included, ensuring that everyone can get things working properly even on varying file system configurations.
  10. Simple drag-and-drop installation — no confusing or malfunctioning installers.

A Long Time Coming

It has been ages since our hero Caleb set out against the evil Cabal, and this may be his biggest challenge yet. Three complete episodes, complete with the elusive secret levels, await.

Hey Bloatoid,

I thought I should report a bug. When axe zombies attempt to follow me across wooden plank bridges, they begin running in circles and usually run themselves off of the bridge. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the game engine itself, but I thought I should let you know in case the problem can be fixed. Otherwise, the mod is great. Thanks a lot for creating such a challenging and varied series of Blood episodes.

This is an engine error. Enemies react strangely when moving on top of sprites as opposed to on the ground in a sector.

By the way, this won't interfere with the level you're working through, but will load up the new one next time you play.

The blood save files basically make a copy of the level that's being played so loading up the new stuff won't erase your progress even through all the maps are being overwritten :-)

I found a better area of improvement. Too many freaking Green Cultists. They are very annoying and there are far too many of them. In the next version please bring their numbers down.

A lot of people are love/hate when it comes to Acolytes. I enjoy them because it's always YOUR fault when they manage to damage you since they use an attack that is telegraphed and easy to dodge. Also, they are only really a threat in small spaces or in large groups and create a lot of friendly fire, which mixes up some of the battles nicely.

I might tone them down a bit in some places in version 1.2 just the same, even though I only find them to be a big nuisance in the higher difficulties where you can't quickly eliminate them. I'm making a list of things to touch up as I watch various youtube videos and Let's Play vids of Death Wish.

Oddly, no one ever complains about my hordes of zombies :-)

Zombies are fun to kill. A well placed explosive can create some dazzling results when facing hordes of zombies.

Amazing mod.
Out of the 30 levels I think there maybe only 1 or 2 I didn't like as much. Otherwise it's solid all the way through.

There is an amazing variety of environments all with different well executed atmospheres and interesting well thought layouts.

Gameplay is always fun and health-ratio is pretty much perfect in every map.
There is also some neat effects here and there and tons of secrets to find in each level.

A must play for any fan of Build engine games.
