After playing many of the more recently-released source mods, the team has become rather inspired to get started on Dead of Night again. We experienced what we considered to be a remarkable amount of fun on the source engine, and feel the desire to bring that sort of fun, in a rather vampirific form!
That being said, we've gone ahead and looked around for some new talent. Luckily, the team has found a coder who is quite familiar with the source engine. This is beneficial, as it puts us just one step further at achieving completion. In addition, the coder has much past experience, and has stated the mod will not be hard to complete in what shouldn't be too long of a time frame.
The coder is FeareD. He's a great guy, and has already found his way to familiarize himself with the team. If you get a chance, feel free to stop by his MODDB page and see what he's working on! Welcome Feared! :)
Personally, I (Katasdf) am currently working on further recruitment, and getting the site up and running. I'd also like to get the forums a bit more popular, as well as possibly re-develop the style and the way they are layed out.
The good news is that any and all of the work we have had previously done is still here, as we never killed the mod; but put it's development on hold. Which, in our case, means we're just as far through development as we were before, with added benefits from our new coder. The plan is the same, to start simple and build on what we have. We'll be looking for new talent soon, and hopefully uploading a few in-game videos.. so stay posted!
I hope everyone connected to this profile is rather active, and is still looking foward to this mod's completion as much as the team and I are.
We'll keep you up to date on everything that is Dead of Night!
Dead of Night team
Haha! You can't keep a good mod down! Glad to see this is back up and running! Looking forward to gettingb my hands on this mod!
Not the only one :D
That's good news!
Good luck fellas!
I'll be waiting. :)
Oh thats nice, good luck mates =)
BTW I´ve recycled the content I made for DoN, so whatever I happened to make for you guys is now scattered all over the mod community. Still, if you have any of that content safe somewhere, feel free to use it.
Hey again Leon! Thanks for the encouragement. If you were interested in joining back again, we'd be more than glad to have you on the team!
If not however, we'll most definitely make use of the work you did for us. Would you happen to have the vampire model you did up still? And if so, have you given it out to anyone?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
Oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I totally forgot, alot of my content is over at Return to Church, which is a similar HL2 mod, but Im not constraining you from using the materials and maps and whatnot. They actually have the whole Don_Trade level there, but Im pretty sure it´ll be modified to fit that game´s gameplay.
Sorry, dont have the vampire model anymore, nor any other materials. I´ve sent all my stuff to other modders for use, and then picked some stuff to use in my own mod, Flesh. Feel free to use what you have, even as a placeholder if it makes your life easier.
I´ll keep an eye out for your mod. If it shapes up nicely, yea I could return to the mapping or modelling or such. Real busy now tho, so I cant promise anything.
And, yeah, good luck. =)
Excellent.
wow, really freaking glad to see this got picked back up
Progress is going good, thanks for all the comments. The new coder FeareD is really working hard and getting some of the main features done already.
Leon, no worries. Nice to see you're still around, I'm glad the work you did was put to use.
I HERD TEH FRIST CORDER WUZ BUTTER!
