Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddlers Green is a Horror/Survival first person shooter from Brainbox Games. The game was released around October 2005, about the same time as the movie, Land of the Dead. It generally received poor reviews and was entirely broken.
Dead Epidemic changes all of this.
You play the role of Sgt. John Gates. Five years ago, you were sent to stop a terrorist organization by the name 'C.O.I.L', but everything goes wrong once you find your team slaughtered. One of your team has been poisoned by an unknown virus, and you have taken him back to civilization, were he died.
Problem was... he didn't stay dead.
It has been five years since the outbreak has occurred, and you have been stationed at a run down military base. There is no cure, and the hopes of finding one is very small amongst the remaining survivors. You have just gotten word that Dr. Necro, the man responsible for C.O.I.L, has just been found on a remote island of 'Queensport'. It is up to you and your new team to hunt down this madman and stop him from enhancing the virus. But on your way to Queensport, your transport helicopter get's shot down by Necro's militia, leaving you stranded without weapons, navigation, and a team in the middle of the country.
Dead Epidemic features a number of brutal weaponry to defend yourself with, ranging from shotgun's, pistol's, machine gun's, and explosives. All weapons have some sort of secondary attachments such as flashlights, brass knuckles, and a m203 grenade launcher. If you feel like one is not enough, you can dual most pistol's and sub machine gun's in the game.
We also introduce vehicles, which was a very missed part in Land of the Dead. Run those undead over and watch them splat on your windshield!
Not only is there zombies in the game, but we introduce even bigger threats...
The single player game has over 20 massive level's to keep you busy with a diverse story line. But if that's not enough, you can play around in the free-roam game type... where Queensport is your killing ground.
Dead Epidemic is set to come out Q3-4 of this year.

1. So what is the mod that your team is working on?
Our team is working on a mod called Dead Epidemic based on a game called Land of the Dead: Road To Fiddlers Green.
2. What is the mod about?
The mod is all about survival, and shooting up some dead guys. In short, you shoot zombies.
3. Why did your team pick this particular genre?
We picked this because, well we love zombies and zombie games. We were
also disappointed in the cancellation of the game "George Romero's City
of the Dead" which inspired us to make our own little remake if you
want to call it that.
4. Give us a little feedback on the mod. Features, game play, settings.
Well apart from the single player mode, the player will have a
choice of Arcade and Free Roam, which is something the player can do
after completing the single player. Arcade features many different
modes and levels which is all about one thing... Killing every zombie
you come across. Some of these modes include Sharp Shooter, which is
killing all the zombies with one weapon, with very little ammo.
Basically ammo count equals number of zombies spawned. Their is also
some more fun type modes, take the mode Destruction for example. The
zombies are not after you in this case, but you are confined to a small
space with a sniper rifle, only you got one shot. The point is to hit
the right barrel or explosive object. By doing this you'll set off a
chain reaction of events, so if you hit the right one, the zombies will
go flying. Which is good fun.
The game play is basically straight forward. It is a mix of Shoot 'em up, and horror. Trust me, it will have it's moments.
5. Will there be an interactive environment? Will the player be able to utilize things in their environment?
The environments are intractable in many ways, obviously you can
flush a toilet and turn a TV on, like in the original game. But we have
new features as well. By hitting the "Action" button up close to a team
mate, you can talk to them, even ask them for some extra ammunition.
There is a new Arcade mode being discussed called "Fortify", like it's
name, you have to fortify and defend a certain area until the time runs
up. You can board doors, windows, and every little entrance to your
objective. But if you decide to take a little rest after doing that,
zombies will eventually find a different way in, like smashing a wall.
6. What type of weapons will be featured?
Their is a whole new array of weapons, which are deadly, and
useless. You'll come across ranged weapons like The M16 A4 With a M203
Attachment, a Raptor .45 pistol with brass knuckles tapped on the end
of it, Spas 12 shotgun, and a Grenade Launcher just to mention a few.
Melee includes anything you can come across, from powerful things such
as Weed whackers with barbed wire, swords, cleavers, and shovels. Every
weapon in the game is somehow different from the other. All weapons are
capable of performing melee attacks. The Glock17 has a flashlight
attached to it for the dark areas, and the M16 has a M203 to blow
through crowded areas. We also introduced some new features to the
weapons. All the guns now have muzzle flash light, and bullet tracers
when you fire. Scoped weapons even have a range counter to show how far
the zombie is from you. For the guns, you will have very limited ammo,
making you result to weaker weapons or melee weapons.
7. What influenced did the media have on your team in making the mod?
Like mentioned above, our huge influence for the game is City of
the Dead. We are trying our best to recreate what Kuju Games intended
on releasing. We were all upset on the cancellation, so we are trying
to give all the Romero fans a taste of the action they had planned.
Obviously Romero movies had a huge impact also. Some of our maps are
based on areas from his movies, and you'll be sure to recognize
immediately.
8. Explain the story behind the mod.
The story takes place on an island called "Queensport" which was an
old shipping center back in the 1880's, but was later turned into a
city. You play as one of four characters named John who is part of the
SWAT team, like the rest, your trying to survive. Before the outbreak
your old team got slaughtered in a mission by terrorists who were
working on a new super virus. You find one of your team on the brink of
death and bring him back to civilization. Little did you know he was
infected with the virus. Five years later... the world is a playground
for the undead. You and your new team have intel on a scientist named
Dr. Necro. He is the one who created the virus. Your mission is to find
this mad man and destroy him by any means. On your way to the island
your helicopter gets shot down by Necro's guards. Your team is now
taken to god knows where, and your left for dead in Queensport. You
must find you team and put an end to this crisis.
9. What time era will the mod be set in?
The time setting is present day, so you can except a lot of modern technology.
10. What engine is the team utilizing?
The team is working with Unreal Engine 2.0, which is a great engine
to use for modding. It is commonly seen on games like Postal 2, Unreal
Tournament, and XIII.
11. Will it be multiplayer?
The game is not multiplayer. The engine is known for it's net play
glitches and we are just concerned with single player at the moment...
12. When does the team plan on releasing the mod?
We plan to release this within a few months time... or when it's done.
Personal Questions.
1. Tell us a little about the team.
The team are all horror and zombie freaks who love games, and
making them. Most of us came across making maps and small mods for
games like Postal 2 and Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddlers Green.
2. Where does the team hail from?
We are from all around the world. US, Germany, Britain, and Sweden.
3. What are the team's hobbies or interests?
We are all interested in modding and the zombie world. Probably most of our inspiration came from Romero himself.
4. Favorite movies? Music? Books? Games?
Our favorite games are Postal 2, Land of the Dead, Max Payne,
Half-Life 2. Probably others as well. Movies are of course all Romero
films. We also hate the "music" rap with a passion. Most of us are
interested in Metal, and rock genera's.
5. What does your team do for a living?
Most of us have jobs, some are currently students. Although none of us are pro game developers.
6. Has your team worked on any projects in the past?
For most of us this is our first mod ever. Some people from the
team have worked with past mods like Eternal Damnation for Postal 2.
7. Any favorite quotes or sayings?
"When it's done." -Duke Nukem Forever.
8. How does your team describe your perfect game?
Our perfect game is bug free, fun, violent, and gory.
9. Does your team approve of violence in games and the media?
We approve violence in video games. That's other peoples stupid
decisions to go shoot others. Video games don't kill people, people
kill people!
10. Chicken or pork?
Chicken.
11. Is there a website or way for someone to check for updates or offer help?
You can check out Undeadgames.com | Resurrection-studios.com | or our Moddb Page for updates, and media!
You need to have Flash and Javascript running in your browser to see this player.

are u guys gona release it soon im in desprate need 2 play this game im really bored 0_0 so how much have u got done and whats a date u could maybe release DE!?!!?
Hi, when will you finaly release it?
Near future.
Yo cj, got an few questions.
First of all im really looking forward to your mod, there is really a need for good Zombie-Shooters for PC!
I found some infos of a cancelled game called "City of the dead", and when i looked at some screenshots, i saw that some of them are quite similiar to the screns of your mod, also the setting of an abandoned isle and some weapons are the same. I don´t know is somebody asked this before, but have you tried to recover some maps of that cancelled game or did you took over some parts of the settings and story, and if so, how much?
Heres the link to that screens:
gamespot.com/pc/action/cityofthedead/images.html
Look especially at image 6 and compare it to your image called "dragunov"!
I also wanna ask if there is an Hospital-level in your mod, cause i love the depressing atmo of an hospital especially in an Zombie-game :).
Kind regards from Germany!
Cool, thanks!
Good question, no we didn't use any content from COTD. But before this was called Dead Epidemic, we originally based the entire game off of COTD. Reason being, it looked like an awesome game, and it was a shame they canceled it.
Currently, about 40% of the games features can relate to COTD. We changed a lot of stuff around to give it our own look and feel, but weapons such as the Grenade Launcher, Dragunov, and Raptor .45, all were inspired by that game. Levels like City Streets, hospital, and suburban city were based on it too.
The island name used to be the same ('Isla Mortal'), but due to story line changes about a year ago, it was switched to 'Queensport'.
Yes we do have a hospital map, almost identical to the COTD screens. If I get some time this week I can put a few screen shots of it up.
Is shaders present with this mod? I tried to mod the LOTD with the included SDK tools but it can't do a thing about shading, unlike Brothers In Arms Road to Hill 30/Earned In Blood (which SDK is kinda the same).
Or is it that the Engine is heavily modified or something more artificial is done?
heh... just wanna know, it's good to remake the whole LOTD.
Nah, it's been attempted many times to get shader's to work on this, and Postal 2's engine. Something in this version of the engine just doesn't allow it.
Release your mod as the time feels right for you, not others CJUndead, I’ll wait non the less, happy modding CJ,
Stars out
Due to recent... err comments, I'm not giving an estimated guess on the release date, I will PM you though.
