The official Dead Epidemic trailer which we promised you guys two years ago is complete! Now that everything is basically done, we would like to present it to you.

Kadish and Veron made valid points, don't snap back at them just because you didn't like what they had to say. Your mod will become much better by listening to feedback. Good to see you're working on it.
Yeah I apologize to anyone I snapped at, just the fact that people were "commenting" on the video's music here and didn't focus on the main points of the game kinda threw me off. Oh well, new trailer is up and it's all good.
Just for the record, I only put in music for the videos because my sound card cannot record sounds.
Actually, i do have my own zombie mod :)
And while i didn't do the majority of the AI coding, i can tell you for certain that putting enemy spawn points in key locations to encircle the player, and making sure that he is never safe, is the best way to make a tense zombie game.
Your game may be tense, but from the footage i just saw it looked pretty laid back, and boring. I think what excites me, is when i have to really struggle, to stay alive.
You probably never played LOTD at all, the AI in it was worse than the AI we have now. They way the developers programmed the zombies originally is really confusing to sort out, even our best coder on the team can't figure it out.
Trust me, if there was something we could do about it, it would have been done already. Besides, zombies are not the only threat in the game...
I have played LOTD.
The AI seemed kind of dumb, but the way the levels were laid out managed to help them find you. It may simply be a case of overly complex level design, or improperly placed pathnodes that's doing your zombies in.
I mean , come on. You had to commit suicide at the end, just to die. That pretty much says it all ¬_¬
Well this is a trailer, and it's not supposed to be long. I was also low on ammo for all guns.
I was also surrounded if you couldn't tell.
No harm done with the comments at the top, I was in a bad mood.
Game looks great, only concern I have is when comparing your zombie mod to the zombie game you're modding it's hard to point out where your work comes in. A lot of what I saw in the trailer comes from the original game, there was the blood overlays that were yours and I don't remember vehicles so... awesome... As for the complaints about zombie ai/speeds. Since we started Zombie Panic back forever again and after releasing both for HL1 and HL2 people have complained about zombies being too smart, dumb, fast, and slow. If people can complain they will complain and thats because everyone has their image of the perfect zombie. They're both right and wrong and arguing it is pointless, you either like it or you don't and thus have a choice to play.

I know what you mean all the way man. We wanted to have just slow zombies originally to fir the Romero mood to it, but as you can see, people don't really like the idea.
What I am going to do is go over all these comments and read what people feel should be cleaned up a bit. I can always create a running zombie class that makes zombies... well run.
The speed of the zombies is only a bit higher than LOTD's, we can always change it if we need to.

Running zombies are shit. The Dead do not move faster than or as fast as the living.
The mod looks good with nice level design from what I see and I like the idea of using the car as well in parts. Not on offer in the original game. So nice one guys. Now for some negative feedback. I hope the music in the trailer isn't in the game as it isn't very good IMO. The music is all I am worried about as far as the game is concerned. I have no doubt what so ever that the gameplay will be top stuff. Could we have some demos of the music from ingame so we know or have an idea of what we're in for. Cheers guys.

I only put the metal music in the game because it best fits the blowing up of hundreds of zombies. :)
In the real game also, it will have a very spooky mood to it. You don't see it now because the map was edited to be a half ass brain dead zombie killing trailer.
Now that is what I am talking about. The ambient music is top stuff so it is. The main theme [Gore] sounds like something from an early Morbid Angel record. I like the ambient music though. Any chance of sending me a copy of the game to test hehe. I'd love it now that I know the music matches the gameplay HAHAHAHAHA.
CJ pal is there a way to download the tracks that doesn't require a lot of patience?. Please tell me there is. I tried to follow the set by step guide on the thread in the forum in the link you gave above. But I lost the plot and started using colourful language that would make Happy Gilmore blush. I seem to be doing something wrong with the steps shown in the forum, tell me there is an easier way FFS I swear if I don't get those tracks soon I will go postal. Neurological stated in the topic on the forum there was an easier way, but never let us know of it. Please help.
I don't know a way either, I have the tracks, but I don't know if Neurological wants me to lend them out. When DE is released there will be a DE OST downloaded with it.

Oh I'll stay patient pal I know your a small crew working on the title. I have no problem with that fact. I was just getting a little frustraited that I couldn't get my hands on the music that's all lol. I will be here waiting on the game being released hehe. I have to say though if it came out this week or next GTA IV would have a serious contender for my attention as I love me zombies even more than I love Metal music, Jessica Alba, and mugging old age pensioners, etc.
Dont forget New zombie animations as well as skins ;)
Oh and if you have a Complaint about the AI please post your opinion on why it sucks or whatever dont just tell us then leave it at that.
I dont think anyone has done any such thing. I know i told you what i thought could be improved, in detail :)
In short they are sub par but need to be more vicious? Anything that you think could be touched up on let us know.
This looks like it could be a lot of fun. It may not be the best ever and there may be things which could be better, but I don't care so long as I have fun.
I'm with Mr Kadish on this one, all his comments are spot on.
And instead of getting frustrated, I'll just say that vash, I haven't seen one single constructive comment from you yet, so please, if you have nothing good to say, don't say it at all ;)

CJundead, perhaps take some advice from someone who made an excellent and famous zombie mod, just like you should have taken my advice on your trailer instead of just burying my comments and eventually deleting them.
Now for my constructive crits (which are pretty much the same as mr Kadish's), the game DOES seem very easy...run around, find a gun laying randomly on the street with some ammo, and just shoot zombies without feeling threatened. The idea of zombies is to feel overwhelmed, not to have cannon fodder to blow to bits.

Since I think your mod is a semi-freeform mod, you should place guns in appropriate places, create a story as to why those guns are in their spots. If you have an m16 laying down perfectly on a box with a few clips, it feels more arcade like than you'd probably like, there is no reason for the gun to be there, there is no blood to say that a military person was attacked and dropped the gun there, there is no blood around to say someone was killed and dropped the gun on the box, there is nothing...just a gun on a box, and really, you don't see guns laying on random boxes out in the street do you?
So my suggestion is that if you want to make it a bit more intense you could possibly put the gun in a partially barricaded building, or where there is a building with a locked door, but you can access the building by going through a window or some other access point that the player has to use a melee attack on to get into.
If you do this, It will take a small amount of time to break into the building, but this also creates suspense since it also gives time for the zombies to catch up to you and surround you just as you get in the door. You can then grab the gun and blast the crap out of them, or you can unlock that other door and exit the building and shut the door behind you which would give you some freetime to go do whatever else.
It's just the little things that can create a whole new experience, I know the mod is WIP, so hopefully you will sort the issue out of having random guns layed about the level.
The guns and zombies were randomly placed as said in the video description for the trailers purpose. We will have weapons in interesting places, even some of the characters in the game will give you some.
Trust me man, I like constructive criticism, just not when it's off topic or way over top. In this case, I like your ideas.

As with the AI, perhaps you should take the advice of MR Kadish with the surrounding zombies, I've seen how it works, and it works damn well, instead of a stream of zombies attacking from one direction, they come at you from all sides, and this can get really tense really fast. Maybe if you asked for some help on the AI coding part to see how to do this, Mr Kadish could probably get you in contact with his mods AI programmer ;)
Now I hope you take that on board rather than trying to bite heads off.
All I can say is don't bite the hand the feeds you, or it may never feed you again.
The AI in the video was not DE's I forgot to mention, I took it out because once I started filming the first time, the zombies attacked each other instead of me, which was a little weird. So I replaced them with LOTD's.
The surrounding idea for the game is defiantly a good idea. We have tons of places to spawn zombies in the maps which will surprise the player.
Keep the ideas coming, I was just a pissed about the music comment, but that's over. I think the new music in the video fit's it much better.
Well people tell me all the time(usualy free developers) that i am mean bastard poking bad stuff in their work but on end that helps develop something better no harm done bad words work on me as complements.
Would sugest something interesting but people already mencioned most of cool stuff but i could sugest when you get bitten you get infected:) and you got 1-3mins to find cure somwhere in city if you dont you die it may seam little hardcore 1bite you die but most of best zombie games i ever played were those who you die from first bite it adds alot of tension and makes you panic weaste last ammo to not get bitten and such:)
Yeah this will definitely be in the final release, It's something we've had planned since the very beginning but never got time to get around to it.
The whole thing with the Infection is, if you get bit (ONLY bit, no groping attacks), you have around 1 minute to live depending on your health. We do like to stay with the Romero theme, maybe for the easy mode we can have anti-infection packs laying around.

I will check out the new video, I thought maybe that was the case since ALL of the comments were deleted, so I'll take a look now and comment on the video :) (I'll try to be less harsh if I don't like it though :P )
It's funny what AI does during development, different games and different AI functionalities can do different random things, the main thing though with AI is that they attack one another for no apparent reason...but obviously there is a reason and thats what testing is for :)

Hey i'd like to Apologize for getting frustrated, as you can tell i dont take critisizm very well, lol, nor do i like it when people talk down to me. but its all good. i can see your just trying to help.
but honestly i dont see anything wrong with the AI lol just the spawn placement which was random at the moment for shooting that video. Zombies generally are stupid lol and slow moving and may bump into each other and such, so i think it works with it. but they do get a little too stupid sometimes. what i'd like to see sometime is when you get ontop of somthing about just there height they try to grab at your feet instead of standing there looking at the car, trashcan, etc lol
