Dead Before Dawn features Crossroads Mall as a replica of the mall in the movie, Dawn of the Dead. Originally created for the HL2 Mod, No More Room in Hell but has since been undergoing major changes to be ported to Valve's Left 4 Dead.

Description
Dead Before Dawn is the much anticipated campaign based on the 2004 movie remake of Dawn of the Dead. The campaign features:
Versus and COOP mode
- 6 Maps (5 + finale) ( NO FINALE in current release, this is COMING SOON)
- Over 200 custom models/props
- Randomised set pieces that ensure your DBD experience is never the same!
- Custom composed music for special events, key locations and even custom director music exclusive to this campaign
- Professional voice overs
- Unique never before seen DotD inspired vistas
- + MUCH MORE
Installation Instructions:
CLIENT SIDE (i.e Your own pc)

Extract the Dead Before Dawn folder to Steam/SteamApps/Common/left 4 dead/left4dead/addons
Start up Left 4 Dead, in the main menu open your console and type: snd_rebuildaudiocache
It will seem as if a map is loading, let it load, if it gets stuck on a full loading bar,
leave it for 5 minutes before CTRL ALT DEL out of it to close it down
If you dont know how to open the console go to options, keyboard and mouse, and enable developers console.
You can now bring the console up by pressing the tilde key (`) which is to the left of the 1 key.
KNOWN BUG - DO THIS TO AVOID IT!

There is a known bug with a soundloop that occurs when setting zombies on fire, open the console and type this: bind g "snd_restart"
Anytime you get the soundloop bug, just tap the G key and it will stop. We apologise for this bug, but its a problem within L4D not the campaign.
SERVER SIDE

Extract the CONTENTS of the folder to /left4dead. Pay attention that you extracted the CONTENTS of the DeadBeforeDawn folder directly into your left4dead folder.
INCORRECT: left4dead/DeadBeforeDawn (There must be NO DeadBeforeDawn folder, only the files and folders inside the DeadBeforeDawn folder)
CORRECT: /left4dead
If you install it to the addons folder on your server, it WILL NOT detect it.

Its a Dawn of the Dead character, Might be a reference.
That's CJ, he's one of the mall security from the Dawn of the Dead 2004 remake.

I still cant get the thing to work.
Extracted all files so it stayed like this: \Left 4 Dead\left4dead\addons\
all went good, but nothing new on the menus so i can select the new mod.
is it right or should it be extracted to \Left 4 Dead\left4dead\addons\DeadBeforeDawn\ ??
any ideas?
That's strange. I'm nit accusing, but it only works with legit copies of Left 4 Dead. Other than that, I have no idea why it wouldn't be working. You have it installed correctly.
its working there's no new menu to play it just go to single player then change the map Bam!!! your playing it!!! oh and one thing u need a legit copy of left4dead to play it cause its not gonna work on pirated
My file had no readme that I could find. It just had the folder for the mod with no instructions.

Same here. Downloading this from moddb.com means you don't get a readme. You have to go to L4DMods: L4dmods.com

I got to the inside of the mall so far until I had to stop. This is really cool I love the music.

For those still wondering, you need to install it into your addons folder directly (folder intact.) Then once you are in left 4 dead, you have to go to singleplayer, and choose addon campaign from the campaigns list, I believe. (If you can't find it, make sure its activated in the Extras> Addons menu)
There is not VPK apparently because the developers were having trouble with it... The news about it is on l4dmods.com
