DAWN OF THE DEAD - Main Video ( 1 )
Dec 11, 2007 Trailers 0 commentsThis video is the first main/long video that I've made for my DAWN OF THE DEAD. The video contains footage of just some of the work that i've achieved...
This is a T.C for MAX PAYNE 1 that I'm working on that's based on the 1978 Zombie Horror classic DAWN OF THE DEAD ( & not the 2004 remake ). I'm trying to stick to the movie as closely as the MP1 engine will allow me & I'm also using a DIRECTORS CUT version of the movie for refferance. This T.C has the same story, weapons, characters, music & green skinned zombies as the original movie, & just like the movie you have to shoot the zombies in the head to kill them. Also any weapons that became avalible to characters in the movie will also become avalible to them in this T.C & at the same time & places in the plot.

This is the second teaser video that I've just recently made for my DAWN OF THE DEAD mod, but unlike the first video this one does contain some in game...
This video's been on the web for some time now, but I've decided to post it up on ModDB also, just to have all my video's in one place. This teaser video...
This is a video of the rolling script that I wrote for my mod, it appears just before you start the first level & it gives you a bit of background...

Nice to here from you again, & I hope your well
In answer to your first question,
Unfortunetly i'm not a weapons Modler myself so any scenes where they use the m16 files in the movie, they will be using Sniper rifles instead, although I have tried to keep my mod weapons as accurate as I can to the movies weapons by adding new weapons that have been made by other modders for other mods, & who have kindly let me use them in my mod also. I've also reskined a lot of weapons to make them look more like the ones in the movie, so I think my weapons situation is 99% accurate.
Also the gunshop will feature heavily in this mod ( once your at the mall ), as this will be where you have to get most of your weapons & ammo as I like to keep thigs real, & picking up rifles & ammo in places like toilets is just not my idea of reality, & yes there will also be missions in this mod, like shooting zombies in the car park from on top of the mall roof, to clear a path for Peter & Roger to get their lorries through so that they can block the mall entrances with them.
All the Best..........:)
Dude its good to see you are still active Halloween and I hope life has been going good :), What about the Rifles they used in the movie? The m16? and the Bolt action rifles Peter and Roger had? Also will you be including the scene in which Peter and Steven go into the gunshop and arm up? Will that make more weapons available? and also will we be doing missions like having to weld down the shutters and set up the alarms etc.
I hope you make it just like the movie, put like a million zombies out side. I also hope that it's just one big level, you know with buildings that you could just walk right into, have it all connected thats the way I would make it. if I only knew how to use the Max editor. shit I would just make one big ass level with a shit load of zombies. I'd put houes's and stores and what ever else that would fit to go into for cover. I'd make that mess look tight no missions, no cut senes just a big ass town with ZOMBIES EVERY WHERE. Im talkin you cant even move if you go out in the open. of coures id put guns and ammo around.
Good your still working on it buddy.
Samajii man, your talking about the 2004 remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD, when my mod is based on the original & best 1978 movie, & if you haven't seen the original movie yet may I suggest you do, as not only is it the best Zombie movie ever made, but you will also be able to see how closely I have stuck to the original movies plot, soundtrack & locations when you eventually get around to playing this mod when its finally released.
Also, any weapons that became avalible to characters in the original movie will also become avalible to them in this T.C & at the same time & places in the plot & other characters such as police & gang members will also use the same weapons that they used in the movie. However, the main characters will only be able to pick up & use the dropped weapons used by these characters if they themselves used them in the movie, & because i'm sticking to the movies original weapons I've also had to drop a few of the default MP1 weapons that were used in the original game but there are 7 New weapons included in this mod which may or may not be for the players use, they are as follows:
(1) 44 Magnum ( used by the Player & Bad Guys )
(2) Colt 45 Revolver ( used by the Player & Bad Guys )
(3) Flare ( used by an N.P.C in a cutscene only )
(4) Sword ( used by a Bad Guy only )
(5) Tear Gas Granade Launcher ( used by an N.P.C in a cutscene only )
(6) Tommy Gun ( used by a Bad Guy only )
(7) Some Fighting Moves ( Not Kung Fu - used by the Player only )
PLEASE NOTE:
*****************
The Original weapons that are also still avalible to the player are the 2 Shotguns, the MP5 & the Sniper Riffle ( although they have been reskinned & tweaked in most cases ).
ALSO: in answer to your second post about releasing a demo or one level, well the answer has to be no as I want to release this mod full & complete so that players get the bennifit of the whole story.
I should however be releasing some more screenies shortly & I hope to release a game play video shortly also, in time for when the modding awards start up again.
Samajii
It's not possible to have a million zombies walking around using the MAX PAYNE engine as it just can't cope with that kind of activity, remember the original MP is 7 years old now & if you start putting more the 8 or 9 characters on the screen it starts to drag something rotten, even on a fairly powerfull machine like mine. But don't worry I've found some ways to make it look like there are many zombies around, i.e instant regeneration of one zombie when you kill another, i.e when you kill a zombie, another will come walking out from behind something like he's always been around. I've also been using closer camera work during cutscenes to make it look as though theres more zombies about then there actually is. I've also been looking at putting static zombies in crowds during cut scenes.
As for making this one big level, thats unrealistic as you got to remember that I'm copying the whole movie, & theres different scenes set in totally different places not just the mall, so this would not be possible.
Just heard some dawn of the dead music and it reminded me that there is a mod in the works.
Anyway, I hope the mod makes strong use of the phenomenal Dawn of the Dead soundtrack from Goblin.
Here is a overview with some music excerpts in case you only know the US version.

Good to hear it and this is sounding so good. I just watched the movie again not too long ago. I know your going to make this awesome. Do you have MSN btw mate?
Cheers david920 I hope you are well also,
Colco, I've got a lot more to do the just the Mall map, as you suggested, as I am copying the whole movie remember, as I've said before, so theres a lot of levels to do, 12 at the last count.
Some level's however will use the same map, i.e the afore mentioned Mall map, as that's were most of the movie takes place, so it will mean I can work a bit quicker when I get to these level's as I won't have to do new maps for them, just mybe the odd new room or two.
But that being said I am in no rush to finish this mod as theres not much interest in Max Payne mods these days, & I want to make the best tribute to the movie that I can anyway....;)
Its all good as long as the mod is still going and your ok :). Keep it up ;p
