The DarthMod series of mods continues to improve the AI and gameplay of Total War games.
As always, the mod’s main scope is to destroy the “weak” arcade factors and replace them with realistic features.
Witness now Total War: Shogun 2 as you have ever wanted.

It is compatible with any DLC and campaign (Sengoku Period, Rise of the Samurai, Fall of the Samurai).

Generally it improves every crucial gameplay factor while it stays close to the feel of the original game.

It does not affect your game installation as you can enable and disable it via a special launcher application.
Furthermore you can use additional mods and options with a few clicks.

In DarthMod: Shogun II you will enjoy a redesigned melee system
which makes battles look like real, "really real"!

images of DMS 3.2
When 2 armies clash, you will notice violent pushes, formation penetrations, heroic 1vs1 melees,
as it would look in a real battle of the era.
images of DMS 3.2
Arrows spread realistically and are powerful according to the skill of the bowmen,
but still no match against the matchlocks.

Sieges are really challenging because the new morale, melee and projectile system
create a chaotic and difficult to handle environment.

Even the naval battles are much improved and are a joy to watch,
fun to play and, most importantly, difficult to master!
The new smoke effects of DarthMod Shogun: II v3.6.
All Total War: Shogun 2 DLC and Campaigns are supported
and the realistic battle atmosphere becomes complete
with super effects that do not decrease FPS but increase it!

You want this!
Do not get lost in Feudal Japan's war turmoil!
DarthMod Shogun is the mod you were, are and will look for!

Getting some bugs not sure if its just me but here:

Its pretty much just to do with various options not enabling, or turning off.

1. Sashimono on/off is stuck off, sashimonos are not appearing.
2. Horo on/off is stuck on, Horo on bodyguard still visible.
3. Toonlite option, unaware whether this works or not, I dont know what it is suppose to look like however I have it enabled.
4. Clan Retexture, also unsure as to what this is suppose to look like, I do however have it enabled as well.
5. Darth Effects, again unsure what this is suppose to look like but I do have it enabled.

6. This isn't really a bug, but just a point, naval combat in FoTS has become more of a hassle and rather rediculous with the lack of accuracy/damage from ships. I tested several scenarios in custom battle, in one instance a fully ranked Armored Frigate vs a fully ranked Wooden Frigate. It appeared as though the armored frigate did almost no damage, couldn't hit the broad side of Mt Fuji with its elite crew, and what shots did hit did almost no damage. again this is just a point, something to consider. I didn't enjoy slaughtering helpless ships from afar in the campaign with advanced rounds on my ships with almost 0 accuracy, but it was more enjoyable than "tell my ships to have at it, go get a coke, go make dinner, and see if i killed a gunship at the least"

However, I do love this mod, currently its made my Shogun 2 standard campaign vastly easier/more fun. Defending and laying siege is way more fun, the AI is still a pain in the arse though lol. Still though in all the campaigns it would be nicer if the arts research rate/time could be tweaked to be a bit quicker. Though I've found it hard to want to use riflemen in FoTS since their accuracy is degraded and the charge of traditional units seems to slaughter them.

I suggest you follow this advice so to install the mod correctly:
and read also the info here:
The asterisk of an option does not change position. It just indicates what is the default option. I know, it can be confusing but it is all I could do at the moment of implementation.
6 Please try the latest version of the mod (DMS 3.9+ HotFix) and tell me if you find naval battles better.

Deathz_Jester Apr 19 2012 replied:

fresh installed, haven't applied the hotfix yet. but i noticed (at the time of posting my last comment, and forgot to mention) that I engaged in a Shogun 2 naval battle during my Tokugawa campaign and thought "haha i'll win easy with my siege tower bune ships". However during any battle large enough that i went into the battlemap to fight it, my siege tower bune (the riflemen tower ships) didn't fire at all.

but i'll be applying the patch and playing soon.

the previous issues seem to be gone and it runs smoothly.

I have always been able to play Shogun 2 but ever since I bought FOTS I haven't been able to play FOTS or Shogun 2. All that comes up is the legal/splash screen. Darth can you help me? I tried to ask on the local forums but I've had no help whatsoever. I installed this mod hoping it would help but nothing seems to get past that damn legal/splash screen. Please help!

I have tried it and it will not work. I can email you my specs if you want? I really am unsure of what else to do. (G73J Series Asus) I meet all the requirements to play the game and played Shogun 2 just fine before I installed FOTS.
