Official Stand Alone Race For Dawn of War: Soulstorm

Daemons mod team has been released! Ever since 12/31/12, the Chaos Daemons mod was reworked to an extreme, here by including a total revamp to the Daemons mod version 0.96 back almost a year ago. What does version 1.4 bring? Only epicness. Only new stuff all over the place, only a total revamp! Daemons mod fans out there, if you played version 0.96 and you liked it, version 1.4 is A NEED TO GET!

Here is a good starting description of the Demons race.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Initial Mod Leader, Primary Coder, Creator and "Owner": Cylarne.
New "leader" and coder: Gambit.
Models: Cylarne, Cosmocrat, RT2, Sataman, Fuggles, Croax.
AI: Thudmeizer, Cylarne, Fuggles, Corncobman.

Assets/Tools

Sharing work, is a beautiful thing. And because of the generosity of
some people, we can all enjoy possibilities that we otherwise couldn't.
Thus, our gratitude goes to:
Firestorm Over Kaurava mod team: You all know the guys... It's from the wide "pool" of their assets, we all occasionally draw.
Thousand Sons mod: For the Daemons "Acrylic Circle" used from the TS Daemon Pit.
Warsmith / _Echo_: For
MANY of his models (especially for the Daemon Lord, the 4 heralds, the
Shadow Fiends and the Doom Pit) used by the Dark Prophecy mod. Note: His
Warp Portal model was a life-saver - thanks man!
Boothy_p: For many of his assets, suggestions and support. I (me or Gambit) was greatly inspired by his own design of Warp Daemons.
Skinny: Nice bootiful fx and abilities for Chaos Daemons.
Catwell: Especially for his Bloodletters, among other things.
Horus Heretic: For his Flesh Hounds.
Mudflap and Palii: For Nurglings (textures by Fuggles).
Andrei: For his Fiends AND the Warp Spawn!!
And of course Corsix!: For his excellent tool most of us use!

Permissions

There are chances we used material that we may not have the proper
rights to do so. With the plethora of assets and modders, it is
sometimes difficult to trace-back the origin of assets and the
permissions required.... We respect the work of others which is their
own intellectual property, and we have NO ill-intend. So, if you spot anything that seems misplaced, just notify us and we will replace it immediately.

So what can we expect from the Chaos Daemons mod?


  • New and revamped artificial intelligence, making an utmost perfect race to play against with or without friends.
  • A complete Chaos Daemons unit and structure set!
  • New units, structures, abilities, FX, event files, textures, art files, new damage system and tons more that no other mod owns!
  • A new map created by our magnificent and master arts and craftsmanship who has created the Darkness Within campaign - Jaguar Lord, scar coded by a very fine scar coder who makes the impossible come alive - Cylarne_04!
  • 99.9% balanced gameplay! Tested over a thousand times by multiple team members who loves playing the mod over and over and over again.

I cant seem to run the mod after installing. It just closes the game when i click on the Daemon mod in game manager.

In the Soulstorm directory, delete the daemons folder and the module of the same name then install the new version.

Thanks it works now. I removed the old daemon mod and got the updated objective points.

First of amazing revamp. but im here to just let you guys knw ive Tried daemons 1.4 with codex doesnt seem to work properly. while ingame cant upgrade to next tier it asks for rise of the warp or time of the warp and thats for the codex daemons, so not sure what happened but m guessin one of you guys should know.

Ps ive downloaded it 3 times from different mirrors and installed it 3 times all same outcome, just before someone tells me to do that
BUT it does work perfectly without codex :)

I just had a look at the file structure of CODEX mod.
It seems that even though the race is called warp daemons, there are researches, abilities and weapons named daemons_xxxxxx (just like in Daemons MOD).

There are two solutions to this:
> Rename the double entries in either (XOR) mod (but this requires time, and AE skill, not to mention that you will have to do this each time you get an update from either mods)

OR

> Use daemons mod as FIRST in the list of required mods. This way, the Daemons from the Daemons mod will be OK, but the compromise is that you will brake Warp Daemons from CODEX.
Warning: There is a case where even this won't work, but you will find out such an occurrence immediately: The mod will not start.

In case it will not start...

I forgot to say Thank You for all the hard work that I do not think you are not getting paid for, and only complained at about. :)

Forums gives them somewhere to talk and complain and get ideas through to you. :) Me too. :P

HEHHE!!! Our payment is community's fun, and the fun we get by merely creating/playing with Daemons!

Now,.... THAT payment is priceless!!
Make no mistake, JOY is the best currency !!!

By the way, besides the team, Cylarne (the "father") and all fellows and brothers involved/playing Daemons, I would personally like to thank Relic, THQ and all DoW designers that gave us the opportunity to get the MOST out of this great game.

Regardless ageing (9 years old), the game STILL ROCKS!

And of course my greatest admiration and thanks to Games Workshop for creating this UNBELIEVABLY deep, detailed, contradictory, outstanding (etc.) world.

WH40k word is art. I could even say philosophy.
