FAQ

How do I install the mod?

Just unzip into your Modules folder like with any other mod. Version 1.161 of Warband is required.

Can I play my existing save with this mod?

Unfortunately no, this is not save game compatible with Native, Diplomacy or any other mods. The different versions are also not save game compatible, so if upgrading to a later version it is necessary to start a new game.

Can I transfer a troop tree I have customised to another save?

Not at this time. Maybe the save game editor will work if you select heroes and non-hero troops in the transfer option, but I haven't tested it (back up saves before trying anything). I will look into making this possible.

Can I combine this with other mods?

The short answer for most of you is no. A mod developer, who has experience using the module system, potentially can merge this mod into their own or another they have source code for. If you are simply a player who would like to combine this with your favourite mod, then I'm afraid you're out of luck, there are no simple tools for achieving this.

If I add new items to the mod, how can I make them show up in the troop customisation options?

As of version 2.21, any new items added to the mod (whether by Morgh's, text editing, module system, etc) should show up automatically as long as 3 conditions are met:

1. The merchandise flag is set

2. The value is set to greater than 0

3. The item is placed before itm_items_end

I've found a bug in your mod, what should I do?

Bug reports are extremely helpful in getting the mod stable and polished. Please check this link to see if your big has already been posted:

If not, or if you can think you can provide more detail or helpful additions like a save file or screenshot, use the following form:

Uploading a file is totally optional. The more detail you can provide the better.

I messed up and uploaded that last update without noticing a glaring bug; item modifiers being gone. If you're one of the 13 people that got in early and downloaded it already, just download again from the same link as I've now updated it.

Can you explain please, how do I add items to list of available gear via Morgh's Editor? I gave items I wanted a merchandise flag and started a new game, but I can't see these items in the gear lists

Ok, I've made an update that should fix it AND allow you to add new gear without needing to start a new game. Check it out in downloads, it's version 2.21.

A little too fast... Just realised there's a bug in that update in the form of item modifiers not showing up, should've noticed that before uploading. Am fixing that now.

Are you using Morgh's to edit the item_kinds1.txt file or the module_items.py file?

From experience adding a new item successfully through itemkinds1.txt allows it to appear in merchant shops as merchandise but not in the cheat menu. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing lists such as the one used for cheatmenu are decided when compiled rather than dynamically afterwards.

I am just guessing, but I believe this mod creates a list defined in cstm_ordered_items, which then has trouble identifying any new items added via itemkinds1.txt.

If you are using Morgh's to edit module_items also check that the item has a value greater than 0.

You're pretty on the mark. The major issue is that there's no way to write code that can dynamically check how many items there are and loop through all of them.

I've got a script that's meant to loop through all items and set them up to display as equipment choices if appropriate. In the code, I say go through all items up until itm_items_end. When it compiles though, it replaces itm_items_end with its item number. If you add more items then, displacing itm_items_end, there's no way to check that in the script because its only actually storing what the item number was at compile time, not the item itself.

I can't think of a good way around it.

EDIT: Scratch that, I think I actually found a way!

It might not be working as well as I hoped due to the game not being able to tell that the number of items has increased. Try going into scripts.txt and using ctrl+f to find the number 2723; make sure you've got the very first instance of that number, which should be right after another big number like 288230376151712332 and technically on line 4 (though the line is so massively huge that it looks like it's way further down than that). Increase that big number by however many items you've added and make sure the items are all put in before itm_items_end. (I say to search for 2723 instead of that big number itself because the big number could change from version to version, but it will always be right before 2723). I'm hoping that'll do it. If it does, I should add instructions for this, I'm not sure I could even code it in to the mod.

This mod is quite revolutionary because it is something we have wanted in a very long time. We can finally have our own troop culture and customize what they wear into battle. Your kingdom finally has an identity. I can't wait until modders insert this into their mods.
