The development of the Curse mod is almost done,more precisely it will be finished tomorrow.
Now we managed to finish the mod,but we didn't had any time to promote it.So, while the release date is May 18th,the mod will be not available for download yet, watch FilePlanet for an announcement.
Since the last summer there was a lot of news post about the features of the mod. Here's all of them
but with the latest screenshots. This is the feature list of Curse episodes:
That cryptic sounding feature actually never mentioned before, because I thought it's not too interesting. In Half-Life 2 the default texture scale on the walls (in Hammer) is 0.25. Those who not into mapping in source, with this value you can control the amount of pixels/world unit on a brush face.In Curse I used 0.125 on almost everything, world geometry, models etc, which means double detail.In the screenshot above: I moved to the column on the left as close as possible,to give you an idea how it looks. If you happen to have a huge monitor, you'll going to love this feature for sure!
This is a feature you'll not going to find in any other game (on the pc). Your main weapon : a magic flail, is controlled directly with the mouse.That means you can hit the mummies in your own style, from any direction you like : it's fun
The game will not force you to fight hordes of mummies, or to solve all the puzzles.If you like
you can just wander around and break all the vases and such, through the entire game till the credits starts to roll: that's the easiest setting.But if you looking for action, just push a button here and there..and see what'll happen.
The first(left) is when you appear in the Necropolis the first time.If you didn't unlock all it's secrets it'll stay like that.(as i mentioned, it is not necessary to unlock everything to finish the game) In the middle you'll see the 'nightmare-mode'. This will happen when you.. actually I won't tell more about this one. The blueish on the right is when there's nothing left to do in that Necropolis, you killed all the evil monsters, and unlocked everything.
Curse episodes has some traditional 'find-the-button' type puzzles, but it's called 'find-the-scarabeus' here.
These are the 'magic-doors'. To open it, you must move the ball to the ram head, within a certain amount of time.If the door is green colored, it'll not hurt you in case you didn't moved fast enough the ball.
Curse episodes got mummies(left) , evil pipsqueaks (second from left), wizards (middle) The Wormdemon (second from the right.worthy of note that the WormDemon is invincible, if you see it run away immediately!) The question mark is the biggest boss in the Necropolises of Curse. Well not the questionmark itself, but I won't show you the final boss. it'll be too shocking for everyone.
This is quite a feature! While other games try to kill the player with lava and acid (or water), Curse
episodes doing the same, but with worms.Yummy! Yummy! That's all. And again, about the release: Curse episodes will not be available on May 18th here, watch FilePlanet for an announcement.

I've been watching this mod for a while, and I'm happy to see that it's going to be released soon! This mod seems to offer something new, and isn't just a shoot everything that moves mod. Keep up the good work!
Can't wait. I'm banking on some giant Anubis and/or scorpion boss of sorts, but I'll be satisfied whichever what way. Again, can't wait :)
I think you need a new font font the text where it says "A grate opened in the green chamber". Perhaps more of a ancient type font but not Egyptian or we can't read it.
There's no such thing as Egyptian. Only Arabic. :P (Although I agree with you, different font for that please, if possible.)

Arabic? How do Arabs have any relation to Egyptian mythology, not to mention literature? I have a feeling he meant Egyptian hieroglyphics.

However, why would you EVER consider using Fileplanet? What were you thinking? Gross. Now I'm going to have to visit the worst downloading mirror on the internet and probably have to wait in a 30 minute line for some sub-par slow as heck download speeds.
It's advertising though, as it stands not too many people browse Moddb (I was only able to find about this mod during the MOTY). But by using fileplanet (although their service sucks) does have a much larger viewer count and therefore this mod will become alot more popular.
Why not both?

quite the opposite mate, we are getting large numbers of visitors every day with over 2 million unique visitors a month and growing.
I respectfully disagree. You see while fileplanet may have a significantly larger visitor base - you should always try and release simultaneously via as many outlets as possible. That way you maximise coverage and give your fans the greatest chance of getting your mod.
Besides, Fileplanet loves mods and will promote your mod the same with our without exclusivity (they just don't tell you that)
Anyhow enough of this nonsense - all the best with the release, don't worry you can depend on ModDB doing all we can to give you as much coverage as possible.
Texture res looks really good! Not too high, not too low.
I can't wait to try out the melee and that HUD helmut has always looked kickass!

Theres no such thing as too high res textures. I wish developers would stop using low end textures. Technology now-a-days is absurd. My video card has 3 GB of memory, 1 on the card and 2 shared with 6 GB of DDR 3 ram. Seriously. Most computers can handle atleast 512 or 1024 resolution textures so start using them.

High res textures sounds awesome, The quality of a mod just goes straight up when they use high-quality textures.

Are you sure those are even relate to the magic flail? I don't see any similarities while playing them.

There's also a flial on x-mass doom 3 although it isn't controllable in all directions though :D. It looks nice, awaiting the release for this :)

Looks pretty good but what he said about the melee attack isn't entirely true. Penumbra worked like that but it was horrible. Hopefully this will work better.

Haha seems like its release date is pushed back once more. I got to say, that it almost doesn't even suprise me. I aprreciate ur work and there is so much to be done, but this is going too far. You got to have real suitable goals. If you say ppl here that its coming this month, but then moved twice thats okay, but this begans to go too far. But we will wait. Just make sure it entertain us all =) It'll sure do!
FilePlanet? Yuck.
That is not true you have the old "die by the sword" game with this feature and also Penumbra: Black Plague that also can let you open/close doors with moving your mouse as also rotate and manipulate objects.
Now i really like the art direction of your mod, it gives it a really unique look.
it says it is released but i really cannot find it anywhere? Why is this?
Can i download it already somewhere or do i have to wait? how long do we still have to wait?
