CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired patch 3.0 final -> 3.01
Nov 07, 2009 Patch 0 commentsThis patch fixes two reported errors in missions for CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired. These include Cobble (fixed crash when attacking APCs during bullet-time...
CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired is a single-player modification for Source. Waking up to find himself an augmented clone of Gordon Freeman, the player must fight time-travelling Combine forces and other enemies across 42 unique and replayable missions.
Missions are set in 18 retail and 24 custom Counter-Strike: Source maps, which are installed intact to the player's CS:S game folder. The mod edits the entity data for each map as it is loaded, adding and modifying entities to create a seamless single-player experience. The maps remain unchanged and are fully playable in Counter-Strike: Source. Maps have been contributed by established designers, including Bluestrike, Schuzak and d00ds.com. Combat locations range from a snow-covered country church to a dense pine forest to a sun-baked tropical island.
Players enter each map through the mission hub and can choose to play each one at a time or all in 3 linked campaigns. In each mission, the player is given a series of objectives, such as to rescue hostages, find packages, defend allies or destroy targets, which must be completed to move on to the next map or return to the hub. Each time each mission is played, the behaviour and armament of enemies and the distribution of resources changes, so that no two plays are ever the same. In addition, maps contain hidden secrets and configurable extras which change the difficulty and parameters of each mission. Thus, CSS SCI FI combines non-linear map layouts with unpredictable enemies in a goal-driven structure to create an endlessly variable and replayable single-player experience.

The final version of CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired has been released. CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired is a single-player mod for Source featuring 42 unique, replayable missions. CSS SCI FI includes an interactive mission hub and full Configuration Utility which players can use to select different styles of gameplay, ranging from extreme realism to gib-tastic gore. Each mission is goal-oriented and non-linear and can be played and replayed using different tactics, options and strategies.
The maps
Missions in CSS SCI FI take place in 18 retail and 24 custom Counter-Strike: Source maps, which are installed intact to the player's CS:S game folder. The maps are unchanged and are fully playable in Counter-Strike: Source. Maps have been carefully selected with the collaboration of established designers, including Bluestrike, Schuzak and d00ds.com.
Replay value
Replay value sets CSS SCI FI apart from other single-player mods. Because the layout of each map is non-linear, there is never only one way to approach a particular target or goal. Players can work through each mission as many times as they like, discovering new features (including hidden secret weapons) and using new options from the configuration utility each time. Resources are distributed differently and enemies change their tactics with every play, making each mission a unique experience. CSS SCI FI brings the unpredictable excitement and high-quality replay value of a multi-player game to the single-player Source audience.
Get it now
To play, only Counter-Strike: Source is required. If it is not already installed, the free Source SDK base will also be downloaded through Steam automatically when the mod is started for the first time.
Download CSS SCI FI 3: Hardwired now via Moddb or get the torrent here.

I have an issue in that it crashes as soon as I try loading any of the missions, whether it is campaign mode or not. I've reinstalled three twice, first install wasn't on top of normal SMOD, second install was(I made sure I got a pre-40a version just to be safe), and third time it wasn't on top of normal SMOD either. All the same, as soon as the loading bar on a map finished it would crash.
Please update your Smod its OLD thats why it gives the No steam content servers avealeble error but the mod looks realy COOL
bad i got that error :(
Hi everyone. No, this mod is not dead. A new final version is currently in development and is close to release. This final version will be stand-alone and will feature 42 missions divided into 3 campaigns, a teleport hub and firing range, and an all new configuration utility based on the latest version of SMOD.
Be patient! It's coming.
Thank god its not dead! Im still messing around in 2.1! CSS Sci fi is the best SMOD mod.
You could also have added simple stuff like enemies use flame grenades, heat blur, bindable "full time-stop", etc., so we wouldn't have to write all the scripts ourselves. Shouldn't take that much effort to add into your setup program...
Nail grenade would also be awesome,..can't get the hang of weapon scripting..-_-;
None of these features will be included in the next release, and many of the overpowered/unlimited ammo weapons are being removed. They unbalance the game far too much.
How about you just slightly edit them to suck up ammo or have a ton of recoil?
Many have been left in - there will still be plenty of variation (there will be 27 unique weapons in the next release). Because the mod now installs to its own SourceMods folder, there is no longer any need to duplicate all the functions of SMOD. The focus in the new release is gameplay in the 42 missions, and nothing else. Weapons like the flamethrower and strider cannon and functions like time stop have no place in this -there's no point in making these missions if the player can simply toast everything in sight, or dissolve it instantly, or stop time and take down targets at leisure. You have to fight, and struggle to survive! That's where the fun is.
Not trying to be a dick or anything, but if doesn't take any effort for this person to put it into the mod. Then it shouldn't take any effort for your to write it.
As for the full time stop, couldn't you just port it over from SMOD: Redux? Most of the stuff you want is there already.
It's quite obviously the best mod for Half Life 2 (and CS of course) ever. -But is it dead now? I mean, won't there be any more updates?? SMOD is over version 40 now, but this mod is still running 39-something... TT_TT
It's epic,...but I need MOAR!
