You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO half-life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

Wow I really like that new flashlight thing you guys have got going, but I have a suggestion.

In doom3 you could only have the flashlight or a gun, no inbetween. So why can't Simon just hold a flashlight in one hand and his handgun in the other and then give them a small consequence like lowered accuracy?

Nice work as ever guys! See you completely changed the inventory away from the bag idea after all? I'm glad, it looks a lot better and the bag I did just wasn't working either, so good result!

Sooo, you're using Paranoia's renderer now? Have you enhanced the bump and specular capacity because I don't remember seeing normal maps that shiney in Paranoia.

That forest map looks fantastic, can't wait to play that one.

Btw Andreas you map real fast, wish I could map like that!

Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.

It's so great to see the progress being made on this mod. The work you guys have put into it really, really shows.

The inventory system is looking really slick, a massive improvement on the original one you showed us in the early days of the mod. I'm also really glad to see that you have to put away whatever you're holding when you are on a ladder.

The falling down feature is great too. What happens if you just jump down the stairs though? Also, if you fall from a certain height, will you collapse on the ground when you hit it? That would be pretty cool.

I'm also interested in the independent movement of the flashlight/torch, how does that work exactly? Do you hold down a mouse button to disable mouse look and move the light around?

Great stuff anyway, I'm getting more and more excited about this mod each time you do an update!

Yeah, as Spork said, you hold down mouse1 and, as you rightly said, moves the flashlight instead of the camera. Mouse2 will reset the thing back to its default position.

Cool.

By the way, just out of interest, is the knife modeled after an actual real world knife or is it an original design for CoF? I just ask because I have an interest in knives and fun stuff like that and it looks a little like a SOG Blink (but bigger) or perhaps a SOG Flash II.

Description

Okay, this has been a long time coming, but it's finally here: The unspectacular sequel to the first videocast. Featuring, in order of appearance, Minuit (me), Andreas (ruMpel), Stig (DragonNor).

Topics covered: Engine update and Simon being a clumsy douche, Andreas' cat and speed mapping, voice acting and a bit of fun roleplay from Stig.

Enjoy!

Note: The video seems to have sound sync problems that won't go away. A fixed version of the video can be found here: Half-lifecreations.com
