"It was the 23rd Century: mankind’s darkest hour."

That is what we have thought for centuries but we were wrong. A new threat waiting for aeons has moved out of the dark. We have seen them, we have fought them, we have gained an important victory but we were not aware that they were not the only ones hiding between the stars. Now we have stumbled into a galactic war that had been raging ten thousands of years.
Mankind on the loosing side, in the middle of Crossfire.

The Crossfire Mod is by far the biggest and most complex Freelancer modification available. For many years this mod is known for highest quality and innovative ideas which we have introduced to the Freelancer modding scene.
With Crossfire we have build and extended an universe based on the original Freelancer game and its story. Realism and a logical development of the quest based storyline and the game environment such as the systems and the technological development is most important on this mod. Crossfire is not a static mod like most others, it is a dynamic developing environment with dynamic economy, dynamic universe, destructable solars and download content (DLC) which introduces new quests, new ships, new systems and new equipment.

Most important in this mod is the atmosphere.
High quality graphics, high quality music tracks, more than 150 very detailed systems, new voice samples, stunning effects, many challenging quests, ten thousands of small side stories and rumours, fantastic gameplay and hundreds of cool ships. That is the Crossfire mod.

Crossfire 2.0 - Progress update

After almost two years of development the new Crossfire mod is almost finished.
With Crossfire 2.0 we have created a mod that can only be described as "perfect". Alot of community feedback was taken into consideration to create an environment that the players will love.

The amount of work we have invested to build the new version was just massive. We still have a bit work to do on the storyline but are convinced to finish everything in December 2013.
That means the release is near.

I'd like to use this opportunity to thank the entire team and everyone who supported us.
Without the support of our dedicated helpers we wouldn't have come that far.

Thank you!

Progress and Release

Now that we are getting close to a release we thought we should release a bit more information about what we have done in the past two years and keep you up to date with the development progress.
On the left side of the Crossfire Mod profile here at ModDB we have added a small Crossfire 2.0 preview. We will give you a small overview about the most important highlights of the mod and show you in detail what we have changes and whats left to be done prior the release.
The progress bars and the change log will be updated regulary so you can keep track of the development.

Once the time has come we will also add a release countdown there.

well, maybe they have reasons to not give away their aliases in the community. it's not about not having balls, is about protecting oneself, because grudges go a long, long way in this community :)

... sure, so is better anonymously post crap here :) (and usually offensive way)

Use constructive critics, or politely ask for help, or ask explanation (politely again) is very likely a problem for them ;). ... as I see it, it is much easier to act like 10year kid, as to prove some knowledge and culture in expression.

Ok, mister.
1. I am the only one here who could "hide" comments of users or guests... nobody else from the team can do this.
2. I did not remove anything from you.
3. This leaves only one conclusion: your comments were removed by the Moddb staff.
4. Nobody here has seen any constructive criticism from you. We have seen accusations... we have seen blaming... we have seen false information and we have seen how our work on the mod and the Freelancer community has been defamed by your comments.
This btw. could have been reason for the moddb staff member to remove your comments (just a guess).
5. You can play the victim now if you want but that does not change the fact that your comments were removed due to rule violations.
6. You also should take a moment and think about how constructive critics might look like. Such stuff does clearly not involve such blaming and offensive behaviour we could observe here lately from our "guests". Believe it or not but we listen to constructive critics (if they are some) and are clearly willing to help when help is requested in a friendly way.
7. At this point I'd like to thank the moddb staff member who is cleaning this messs. This allows me to do my job without having a bad feeling.

"posted by anonymous" .. this is a keyword here. And its very likely this will be removed as well (exactly as you wrote), bcs this is nothing about Crossfire mod. Is funny that you wrote about censorship, and post as anonymous :) . bravo! :))

If you cannot publicly own up to a statement it tends to be best to just not make it in the first place.

Crossfire is the best looking Freelancer mod. Hard to believe that this game was released seven years ago.

I love the tune up to the area and especially to Trent himself. But i find that with the increase in difficulty, space battles in SP take a very long time. This i can deal with as it makes the battles themselves more interesting and unpredictable. However i find myself getting annoyed during the first mission that character Beta 4 is destroyed before i've managed to kill 1 enemy. This happens over and over most tries lasting under a minute resulting in me quitting the game. If players are forced…
