Quote:

"It was the 23rd Century: mankind’s darkest hour."

That is what we have thought for centuries but we were wrong. A new threat waiting for aeons has moved out of the dark. We have seen them, we have fought them, we have gained an important victory but we were not aware that they were not the only ones hiding between the stars. Now we have stumbled into a galactic war that had been raging ten thousands of years.
Mankind on the loosing side, in the middle of Crossfire.

The Crossfire Mod is by far the biggest and most complex Freelancer modification available. For many years this mod is known for highest quality and innovative ideas which we have introduced to the Freelancer modding scene.
With Crossfire we have build and extended an universe based on the original Freelancer game and its story. Realism and a logical development of the quest based storyline and the game environment such as the systems and the technological development is most important on this mod. Crossfire is not a static mod like most others, it is a dynamic developing environment with dynamic economy, dynamic universe, destructable solars and download content (DLC) which introduces new quests, new ships, new systems and new equipment.

Most important in this mod is the atmosphere.
High quality graphics, high quality music tracks, more than 150 very detailed systems, new voice samples, stunning effects, many challenging quests, ten thousands of small side stories and rumours, fantastic gameplay and hundreds of cool ships. That is the Crossfire mod.

Crossfire 2.0 - A year in review

2015 was truely was a year of detail improvements in Crossfire. After the release of the first beta version at the end of 2014 we got lots of player feedbacks and could observe how the Mod performs in our online environment.

The step... or probably we should say the huge jump from Crossfire 1.9 to version 2.0 adressed many wishes and suggestions of our community at the SWAT Portal. Next to that we also wanted to redesign the complete Mod in order to look stunning and feel amazing. Large parts of the storyline, known from Crossfire 1.9, got redesigned in order to allow a more dynamic Singleplayer experience. We also had new story missions on our agenda, as we clearly wanted to finish the main storyline of the Crossfire mod with version 2.0.

Crossfire 2.0 turned out to be a huge success. The amount of people which took part in beta testing was truely impressive and the feedback we got allowed us to improve the Mod even further.

In October 2015 we finally decided to re-release Crossfire 2.0 as full version that contains all fixes and improvements. Additionally the full release also contained new content such as new ships and new story missions. We also have considered this new release as a proof of concept to show how an upcoming feature might work: Community Content (but more about this later).

Since October we have kept focusing on online content. In particular we were working on the improved Clan support and various improvements to the automatic Roleplay system. For several weeks meanwhile the modular Clan Bases are being beta tested by one of our Server clans and we are almost done with the work. Another feature that soon can be used by our players.

Community Content

Getting the Community involved in the development of the Mod always was one of our highest goals.
With Crossfire 2.0 we included specific markers into the main storyline which allows us and the community members to develop and include own story missions that then can be shared with the community. With the release of the early beta version back in 2014 we included the first of these so called Bonus missions, which represent small side stories which have no direct influence on the main story.
In October 2015 we then released a 2nd Bonus mission, which continues the story arc that was started with the first Bonus mission. Step by step new singleplayer content will be created this way and everyone is invited to help giving these new missions their shape.
In 2016 we will create and active developer team for these kinds of Missions.

Modular Clan Bases

As already written above we have spend the past few weeks with the final development of our modular Clan Stations.
What is that?
While Clan stations are meanwhile nothing new in Freelancer anymore we have decided to make a different approach on this topic. We wanted our stations to look amazing and we wanted our players to truely experience how dynamic it can be to construct and upgrade an own station.
Players can upgrade stations and build new modules which really get added to the station as external components and also internal rooms. Each module has its unique look and its unique purpose... starting with a simple flight deck and then later constructing a bar, a ship dealer, mooring ports, factories, cargo modules, shield generators and even defense platforms. Each station module grants access to new features, special items and very special ships.
Constructing Stations of course requires teamwork and is a great motivation joining forces in order to achieve something outstanding in Freelancer.

Online Conquest System

The Conquest System is something we have planned for 2016.
Personally i don't want to reveil to much about it, but at this point I can tell that it is going to be war-like scenario (similar to the ASF vs CSF) which connects multiple key features of Crossfire with each other. The Conquest system involves a territory based system of influence for Clans which will be linked with the construction and upgrades of Clan Stations. It also will have influence on the already active automatic Roleplay system.
2016 truely will be great for Freelancer online gameplay.

Ah just how you don't steal things from other mods and then go around telling people not to steal code/models from your mod?

Pretty interesting that you go over to other mods' profiles and do the same.

And I can't prove them(with the exception of my last post because I have asked other mod devs and they have accused you of both acts), but then I have to ask how can you prove that you have a mod with so many gigs of data in it?

ahh yes - you have no proof but still you spread lies
I WANT A PROOF - HERE AND NOW.

And if other devs told you such a **** then send them to this site so they can post THEIR PROOF.

EVERY part in Crossfire has either been created by me or I have the proper permission to use the material.
If you have no proof showing the opposite then you are nothing but a poor LIAR.

The hypocrisy is rich OP your the liar here you have stolen at least 10 station models from the FL:CE mod alone, and I know for a fact Sullivan does not give out permission to anyone to use anything from his mod.

Mr Bubb9,

in the past 9 years that I am member and leader of lancer communities I have not seen such a stupid guy like you.

10 stations from the FL:CE mod?

1. Crossfire is one of the oldest FL mods and the stations being used have been introduced long before FL:CE did even exist

2. Crossfire does only have 9 custom station (all others are starlancer rebuilds -> aka fanart)

3. I downloaded the FL:CE mod meanwhile and took screenshots of EVERY SINGLE station in there.
That is the result:
Swat-portal.com
And that are the stations that are in Crossfire:
Swat-portal.com
-> conclusion they are all different (no CF station which looks like a FL:CE station)

4. there is one station where FL:CE and Crossfire seem to have a similar source
Swat-portal.com
Swat-portal.com
The design looks similar on the first look but on the 2nd look FL:CE has different side part and a longer front part (i made sure to make the screenshot from the same orientation to show it)
Ergo: the station may belong to the same "set of stations" but don't have the same shape -> therefore they are not the same stations (and I have to question that FL:CE actually has a copyright on the model).

While I am sure that MY station has been released at the same time I released those other CF stations above I can clearly say that this was done before the FL:CE release I also have to mention that the station I use was freely available on the net and I have proper permission to use the model since I ask EVERY author for permission.

SWAT_OP-R8R Creator
SWAT_OP-R8R

That brings me to the next point of this comment.
Since my stations (which are less than 10) have been released before FL:CE and since I have proper permission of usage (which I can prove via mail between me and the original author) and since the only halfway similar looking station has a different shape (which is something you should have noticed if you are such an expert of mod)... -> where are the at least 10 stations that I have stolen?

- you claimed that the members of my modding team left -> 1st lie (everyone being active on the dev boards know this)
- you claimed that I don't have created a 2gb mod -> 2nd lie (screenshots, movies and the amount of features are proof of that)
- you claimed that I go to other mods profiles to tell lies and cause trouble there -> 3rd lie (well every moddb member can go to the other freelancer mod profiles to have a look -> they will notice that I dont write comments there except I am congratulating other modding teams for their work)
- and finally you claimed that I have stolen something from other mods (in this case FL:CE) -> 4th lie (which i proved above)

And now Mr. Bubb9 I suggest that you leave this place and never come back again before I decide to remind the moddb staff that there are actually rules at moddb which got violated by you and that Id like to see those rules being enforced.

Irrespective of ignorant speculation to the contrary, the CF Mod Team is very much alive & well, thank you very much! The time of completion has tended to expand somewhat, since OP is doing some things with the game that few modders have attempted, while continuing to expand the depth & breadth of "conventional" mod features. True, most of us on the team are not good modelers, texturers, or coders, so OP has to do most of the heavy lifting on his own. Add to that the additional work of updating the features of the SWAT Portal, and it's no surprise that a firm release date is not yet in sight.

BUT - as someone who has contributed materially to the updated storyline, socio-politcal context, and database of the mod, I can guarantee that Crossfire 1.8 will be stunning in its entirety! With a minimum of 6 new interdependent quests, many new systems, updated infocards, maps, NPC dialog, and the hundreds of other additions & improvements, Crossfire will redefine the state of the art in Freelancer modding. It will totally be worth the wait! :-)

jesus you are one annoying kid, if you state that I am hypocritical, what are you then?

"I have asked other mod devs and they have accused you of both acts" - right and you do believe them based on what they say?

Crossfire is the BIGGEST mod out there and if you are so eager to see a FL mod with "so many gigs of data in it" just wait for 1.8 to come out, I think that will shut you up.

I love the tune up to the area and especially to Trent himself. But i find that with the increase in difficulty, space battles in SP take a very long time. This i can deal with as it makes the battles themselves more interesting and unpredictable. However i find myself getting annoyed during the first mission that character Beta 4 is destroyed before i've managed to kill 1 enemy. This happens over and over most tries lasting under a minute resulting in me quitting the game. If players are forced…
