Half-Life, voted game of the year in 1998. Counter-Strike, one of the world's popular online action game. What would happened if you were to merge both of these?
Simple, you would have a mod with Half-Life's storyline with Counter-Strike's weapons and hence, Counter-Life is born. Most of Counter-Strike's weaponary (minus the shield and smoke grenades) will be available for you when you purchase them from buy stations .
'Half-Life is Single-Player, so where are they buy stations?' Well, all the buy stations are the Health and HEV stations you encouter throughout the game, strategically placed. Just go up to them and use them. Unless you have the cash and the 'last resort' weapon, you can't go around buying all the weapons you can carry. Like in CS, each weapon cost a specific amount of cash.
'What about Xen?' Download the mod and find out yourselves.
Monsters, soldiers and allies in Counter-Life are also given a few enhancement to make them totally unique from the original Half-Life. Sad to say, killing G-man is still impossible because he happens to be your middleman and your so-called boss in HL2.
*Counter-Life is playable using steam and also allows you to use Counter-Strike custom models and other high poly w_ and p_ models. There are simply no restrictions or limits. Just the Half-Life ones.
Try making Counter-Life look unique. Get textures, sounds, sprites, skins and models to beautify it. Play through HL SP once again with CS weapons and make your enemies...SUFFER!

Sorry for the long wait, guys. Been busy learning tutorials on 3D modelling and a bit of animation with some rendering techniques thrown in. Have to get them ready for my portfolio so I can hopefully find a job related to the gaming industry.
So progress for CL is slow but I haven't forget about it. The mood's all about 3D and a bit of Fallout 3 (this game really sucks me in with all the sweet weapon mods).
I'm also trying to get some ideas for secret weapon 2. I'm wondering about a... never mind.
So far, I've brought back the M4 to its original silenced state. It has been fun with the M203 but most of the M4's custom models are without the M203 so we can see plenty of screw ups. Ouch...
I also have other plans for CL in my notes and hopefully most of them can be reality. One such thing is a bagpack that can increase the ammo being held. I've tried doing that when CL was still in Beta but I can't get it to work. Damn thing crashed when I tried loading it...

you can make a counter-shift yourself :) check the forums. Counter-Force (which i really want) isn't really working well if you mix those 2.

I've been getting a few HL1 mods lately to play around with but the first one I tried to access (AoM DC) wouldn't work, then I asked around and was told that I have to have the AoM DC files folder in the Half-Life folder and then access the mod through Custom Game, however I do not see anything but Team Fortress and another MP game mode. Am I still doing something wrong? I would really like to play this and the other mods I've downloaded so far.
Never mind I finally figured out what I wasn't doing right.
Anyways Counter-Life is pretty awesome, I love how I can switch out one weapon for another if my situation requires it. I like the fact that I can save up for the auto-shotgun. It also adds some difficulty since I'm saving up for the "special weapon" and I'm only getting about two or three clips per weapon so I don't waste it all. Really love this mod.
same as half life opposing force, it either wont establish connectiion to server, or wont download and verify resources, or wont precache resources, anyone help?
Hi, excellent mod, I remember the early versions. This one is much more refined and enjoyable.
The only thing is (and probably more of a fault for CS designers vs CL developers) some of the player weapons damages are totally bullshit. For example, the FN 5.7 ammo does the same damage as 5.56 mm in the game (20 + Pierce). However, in reality, the 5.7 AP bullet is a 32grain bullet traveling at 2350fps for 397 ft lbs of force. The 5.56 is a 62grain bullet traveling at 3100fps for 1303 ft lbs of force. That's more than 3 times as much energy, and should really be reflected as so in the game.
A more reasonable damage would be 7 + Pierce, which would be slightly less dmg than the 9mm, but have the advantage of armor piercing. This would accurately reflect the advantage of the 5.7 round over 9mm in real life as well (less dmg but with AP capability).
There are some others we can discuss of you're interested. However, this is a minor issue. The mod is still enjoyable and a job well done.
did you restart? I dont have steam version but here is an idea: put the game folder in the hl directory, make a shortcut of the launcher whereever you like, open the shortcut properties (right click and select properties) ,you are gonna edit the directory .put "-game [game folder name] -console" (without quotations). open that shortcut.
