Contra is a freeware modification for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real-time strategy game. It's a big project started in 2004. It adds many new units as well as numerous new upgrades, new general's powers and buildings. It also adds new sounds, maps, bug fixes, enhanced graphics, and other effects, as well as three new generals. There are lots of people playing in multiplayer.

Fixed errors:

- Flame and infantry general's ECM tanks did not fire automatically. Fixed.
- Many crashes were fixed on challenge maps. These errors stayed since Contra 0.06. It was the reason why I blocked Challenge mode in 0.07.
- Tomahawk Storm did not leave scratches on ground. Fixed.
- Frenzy general's power had an error in description. Fixed.
- Infantry general power plant had 2 stop buttons. Fixed.
- Veterancy signs did not appear on group build buttons. Fixed.

Balance changes:

- AF general: MOAB upgrade bonus was increased. Shockwave bomb gets +50% damage from it.
- AF general: MOAB upgrade effects Air Force general superweapon now. Strategic bombing becomes really devastating when upgraded with both cluster bombs and MOAB.
- AF general: Comamche does not have machinegun any more, but damage versus buildings and vehicles was increased. I remind you, that Combat Chinook has counter infantry weapon. So, it will be nothing bad.
- Cyber general: Builder Mech movement speed was reduced. It moves as fast as other construction dozers now.
- All China: Nuke and Tank general's supply truck switched places. Nuke general has tracked supply truck with machinegun, tank general has usual supply truck. As you know, nuke general does not have defense. So, armed supply trucks will be helpful.
- All China: Firestorm does not damage air units any more.
- All China: Helix bomb module addon adds additional 25% life to Helix now.
- All China: All jammer troopers can switch their weapon now. First weapon is ECM vehicle disabler and the second is jammer.
- Nuke general: Nuclear Overlord turret rotation speed was reduced. It rotates turret as fast as other Overlords now.
- Nuke general: Nuclear Overlord cost was increased from $2000 to $2200.
- Nuke general: Irradiator addon cost was increased from $400 to $600,
- Nuke general: Missile launcher addon cost was increased from $1500 to $1800.
- Nuke general: ZTZ tank does not have nuclear shells from the start now, but it can receive them after upgrade. Upgrade is available at rank 1.
- Infantry general: Red Arrow moved to rank 1 and is not stealth any more.
- GLA: All mortar buggies have 15% less firepower now.
- GLA: All defense sites were recalculated. Their armor was reduced by 12%. Quad cannon defense site was additionly weakened - its firepower was reduced by 10%. Artillery defence site armor was decreased by 28%.
- GLA: All defense sites don't have automatic repair any more.
- GLA: All Jarmen Kells have 25% less life now.
- Demo general: Suicide upgrade was moved to rank 1 and its cost was reduced from $3000 to $1500.
- Assault general: Katusha and Dana switched places. Katusha became weaker and available at 1st rank. Dana became stronger and available at 3rd rank.
- Toxin general: Technical firepower was increased by 30%. But number of sit places was reduced. There are only 2 places in Toxin general's Technical now.

Other changes:

- All: All supply gatherers and supply centers cost 2 times higher.
- All: Money transfer ability allows to transfer $2000 instead of $5000. I also removed build limit. You can order to transfer as much money as you want.
- All: Super units can not be thrown up by shockwaves any more.
- Cyber general: New rank 3 general's power: Stinger Drone deployment.
- Cyber general: I returned pop-up Patriot from earlier Contra versions. But this Patriot has faster missiles and opens faster.
- Cyber general: Beetle mines were removed. There was unfixable bug: these mines blocked path for enemy units. There was no way to fix it.
- Cyber general: Robo Raptor has new 3D model.
- Cyber general: Leech Drone is stealth from the beginning and can be built in Command Center. But it can not steal money. Thus, cyber general has got stealth recon at 1st rank.
- Cyber general: New upgrade: Leech Hack. It returns money stealing ability to Leech drone. The upgrade is available at rank 3.
- Laser general: Omega Cannon does not have any individual upgrades any more. But it is built with stealth field by default.
- Laser and SW generals: New rank 3 general's power: Satellite AA system. It shots down enemy planes in targeted area.
- AF and SW generals: Comanche has new 3d model.
- AF general: Sentry drones have got navigating missiles. It is ability, which allows to see farther. Sentry drone launches a missile, which flies very far and slowly and reveals area around itself.
- All China: All supply trucks have 1.5 times more health now.
- All China: Dozer armor upgrade was removed. (It is planned to add another upgrade instead, which allows China dozers to move by water).
- Flame general: Propaganda Troop Crawler was added. It is available at rank 1.
- Flame general: New upgrade: Turbulence. It allows Vortex weapons to create turbulence in air. It increases firepower against air targets and especially, against heaps of helicopters. You need 4 vortex guns to create turbulence with 1 shot or 2 vortex guns must fire 2 times at the same place.
- Tank and Infantry generals: New rank 3 general's power: AA missile barrage. It shots down enemy planes in targeted area.
- Toxin general: New rank 3 general's power: Air contamination. It creates yellow clouds in targeted area.


- New multiplayer map: Forest Wars (6 players).
- New multiplayer map: The Grand Canyon (6 players).
- New multiplayer map: Community Work Day (2 players).

Canceled changes:

- USA: Patriots don't have any additional requirements: no war factory, neither airfield is needed.
- I changed my mind about money gaining speed. I returned everything back. Money gaining speed will not be reduced 2 times as I stated earlier.
- Stealth general: Gun Buggy cost was returned back to $400.
- Demo general: Dirty Bomb upgrade was returned. But it effects Elbrus Storm only. Terrorists, bomb trucks and other suicide units are not affected.

I really think the game needs a "HOLD" the position command, unit hotkeys W - airunits, T - Tanks, R - Infantry....The supply limit is good (DZ, Hackers, BM) it eliminates a tiresome very long game....

I think AF needs additional tanks at rank three they are ****** up w/o air field, while LG needs air units or additional tanks or upgrades for tanks at rank 3, because at this point LG is turned into a anti-air faction with lousy support.

I agree with the unit 'stances' suggestion but I swear that there is already a way to shortcut units. Select the units you want to group. Then hold CTRL and the group number you want to give them. Then every time you press that particular group number you will select those units.

And here is some crittic:
everyone says this mod is soo balanced, but there is fings that was in Generals unbalanced and you still dont fix it, i mean in the USA - i dont say they are the strongest side, but they have too many benefits, that other sides dont have:
-flashbangs- most stupid thing in generals, i dont understand how someone can kill somebody or clean a building with it
-snipers- ok, you give the snipers even to other sides but i still think they are too unfair units with too small cost
-buildings- the worst of all, why the americans have autorepair and gets a couple of rangers after destroying their buildings, wenn they buildings have the same cost as the other sides?!?
-generals abilities- they have too many bombarding abilities there, you only need to get rank and then you can do with your enemy everything you want for no cost(you wanna get out the spectre gunship, but they aint so strong as before, so i rather take A10 or HE bomb)
-shortest countdowns on superweapons- they can hit you more frequentli in long run

for that i dont understand why you weaken GLA(especiali they defense-it isnt so strong, wenn you take what it cost and it must by combined for some real efect) and Chine instead from USA and why you give even more power to USA(especiali to the cyborg general)

As for the comments about generals, i dont think tahat nuke general is strong, yes he have nuke storm but wenn he build it, you have 12 minutes to shot it down and that is too easy because he have no defense:D and for that i want that you give him back his defence(and just give a higher cost on nuke storm) or give him his whole nuclear arsenal avalieble on 1.rank so he can do a good offense, otherwise it looks like he was a suicide general instead of nuke general

and Infantry general- hhh he is maybe the weakest general for my, infantry is vulnerable mostly to everything

i think the strongest general is superweapon, i played just now against her(insane AI) with toxin general and i have a real problem, because i cant build elbrus storm without a rank so i cant shoot back, and i cant get across her defense(mostly because wasp cant detect sthelth aircrafts and luna cant go to tunel!) but i get her finaly, try that and you see:D

i winn olny because i have enough black markets and that is another thing i dont like- why do you want limit on markets, hackers and suply zones, thats crazy, i played the Command&Conquer games mostly because there was almost no limits(i hate most the population cap in other games) and you wanna do this- i dont agreed with it

but even its soud too criticli i must say that the contra is the best mod on generals i ever seen, so good luck on continued work on it, im realy curious what new units i say:D

yes, and i want some anti laser armor, anti tomahawk shield, reflection armor against particle beams, rockets that cant be shot down with laser defense system, some AA defense that will be able to destroy that AF G indestructible aircrafts.... and what about a antiUS missile that destroy everything belonging to USA :)))))

then you can make good defense
and for challanges make 50000 cash
maybe this could be a good idea for 008
il bet that more players would like to have more cash abilities from starting
