The Past Ain't What It Used To Be... The first Command & Conquer received its last official update on the 21st of June, 1996. Since then, the game has been ported to Windows (as "Gold" version), and re-released in the big "The First Decade" collection pack, but has never received any more bug fixes. The C&C Gold Patch 1.06 project aims to bring this classic into the new millennium, by fixing the old bugs, supporting higher resolutions, and adding new modding and mapping possibilities. It also contains an addon-based language system, allowing anyone to create translation packs for the game.
Just for fun, this mod gives you the game censoring as is was done on the German version. The string changes only work in English, French and German, though.
People often ask me what the German censoring is like... if it's really as silly as it sounds. Well, yes, yes it is. And now you can enjoy that silliness too!
This little pack adds the original censored German infantry graphics, name changes and death sounds. I translated the censored names to English and French, but didn't include complete briefings; that would just take entirely too much time for something this silly.
To use this mini-mod, simply unzip the censored.mix in your game folder, start CCConfig, go to the Game Options tab and select the mod in the dropdown menu, and save the settings. To disable, simply select the empty entry in that same dropdown menu.
