Combine Insurrection will take place directly after, or rather during and then 6 years after, the events of Half-Life 2.

In the mod you will take up the role of Freeman to try and finally rid the planet from the iron icy grip of the Combine.

Basic plot summery:

The Vortigaunts that had attempted to rescue you, Gordon, had failed and you were thought lost. Life went on, battles were won and lost. Yet eventually the Combine were driven off-world. But now they have returned once again, more ferociously then anyone had dared to hope.

With this Reinvasion you have also come back to the battle field. Mysterious as the pretext for your Re-Insertion may be, you take up your previous quest to save your home world.

Hey everyone!

Well it has been a long and eventful six months since I lasted updated the mod page. Suffice to say that things did not go as I had planned. How I had planned out the work to be carried out on CI was to bum rush work on Odyssian Void and try to clear a lot of backed up goals out. That was pretty much accomplished. However I had intended to start work on CI in Mid-November and that is where things broke down.

I was approached by a company for a COBOL development position which I accepted. This was early November and I started working for them on the 17th. As a result I have not been able to complete any show-able work on CI for the last several months. I did get into the 8th deck of the mothership to do some small things but that was the extent of my mapping.

Suffice it to say that my time is now at a premium and I have had to make some tough decisions. I tried balancing everything out but it was just not working with CI in the mix. That said the mod is not dead. I fully intend to finish it but I do not have the time to spare and as such I have had to put my proprieties in order. That meant having to place Combine Insurrection on hiatus indefinitely.

Another reason I want to hold off is because of Source 2. We all know it and Half-Life 3/Ep3 are coming sometime before 2020 (dat Valve time) and instead of having to remake the entire mod for the new engine I am electing to hold off until it is released. There will likely be some big changes that will require recoding and remapping and I would rather have to do that from the standpoint of where the mod is now rather than later when the mod may be much more complete.

I do not know when work will resume but it will resume. Right now all of my time is going to be going into Odyssian Void, some side jobs I am doing, as well as my current full time job.

Thanks to those of you who have expressed interest in the mod, I am sorry that it is going to take much longer than anticipated but at the same time there is little I can do about it. I am not going to completely abandon work on the mod while it is on the back burner, I will be taking this time to work on the back story and plot for the game, both are in sore need of updating/more work. By the time work starts up again I should have most of the details down.

alright. let me see if I can help you wrap your mind around the situation here.

Although, while I don't think I should have to spell everything out, because I expect people who are interested to have at least some imagination to fill in holes where I have not added anything in yet, I probably should have out lined exactly how the Combine were ousted, but that's what revisions are for.

Anyway, After the citadel goes up in flames and the Resistance gets ballsier, the Hierarchy orders a temporary retreat of all Combine forces, this includes the Overwatch.

When they re-invaded, those Overwatch that made it out were still with them (around 65% made it off-world).

That's why they still have those uniforms. And also remember that when this mod takes place is two years after they reinvade, during which they had been conducting mass abductions. They could easily have brainwashed some percentage and turned them over to the Overwatch division.

Ok, so as not to be a troll, I'll give some tips and not just criticize. First, those stairs and escalators are good on the front, but they look not too good from the side. You should cut off those enormous botom corners that go all the way to the floor and just make it slant along with the degree of the escalator's slant. Same goes for the stairs. Secondly, I like the design of the side rails on the second floor around the huge fountain. But you should also include supports under the second floor as well. Otherwise it look architecturally unrealistic. Same goes for the rest of the second floor. Since it's not a final cut, I have not more to say that's worth mentioning. Good day.

Well I don't want to sound like an *** actually so... At least make the structure less bulky and simple... those 2 big cylinders... that's just laziness right there. architecture is way more detailed than that... and you've basically gone for the symmetric lazy approach. (Buildings don't have to be symmetrical) The design of the map itself needs to feel more realistic, you you have these big blocky buildings instead of a more unique design it's going to take a lot of peoples interest away. Stray away from makign everyhting perfectly square, that's not how architecture is. =P
