During it's mission to destroy the resistance a prototype combine soldier starts to malfunction after surviving a large explosion and eventually becomes disconnected from the combine. Without the combine to guide it the prototype starts to take orders from the voices within.

It's been a while since I last updated my mod because I've mostly been working on this. When I did find some spare time I decided to update Disconnected on the latest HL2 code. This wasn't as simple as it could of been because my code was all over the place because when I started I was just chucking new ideas in all the time. As many a modder will tell you this is a very bad idea, so I actually did a bit of planning this time around before touching any code. However it's hard to show new more efficent coding so instead here's a shiny new weapon. It's called the spitfire and it is a machine pistol modified to fire incendiary rounds, check the video out. Also you will see my new dynamic crosshair in action but more about that in a later update.
Also I have learned the dark art of hex editing existing HL2 models to create new placeholder models (as my modelling skills are abysmal) so that's why the spitfire is just a black version of the pistol.
**EDIT** I had time to add two other videos showing the new accuracy & damage modifiers in action.

I've not yet played Bioshock 2 so it would be a suprise to me if it is a reference to that!

If you want. I, the very new mapper and dedicated to write stories, could help you abit. Im also helping Mellon on his mod so, I wont be 100% with you, but I could help you with some mapping and abit story if you want.

"starts to take orders from the voices within"? As in, he's posessed by demons or something? Or mentally ill.
But that said, the story still sounds much better than the typical "Combine killed your pet & raped your grandma so you gotta take revenge" kind of plot.
Nothing supernatural, just the idea of a malfunctioning man/machine which can't tell friend from foe.
Cool. The "demons" part was a joke, but i feared it's gonna be like: "protagonist malfunctions > disconnects > thinks independently > joins resistance somehow".
But if he still 'malfunctions' after disconnecting, that hopefully will not be the case. After all a dude screwed up like this should be seen as an enemy by both Resistance and Combine.
I'm gunning for an anti-hero vibe so no he won't be joining the resistance.
