Combine Destiny - Patch to 1.1
Nov 04, 2009 Patch 3 commentsCombine Destiny Patch to 1.1 - Requires full v1.0 to be installed.
The town of Coonersville has rebelled. The citizens there have overthrown the security forces and established a base at the top of the mountain. The town was heavily shelled with headcrab canisters, forcing the rebels into hiding. A Combine Overwatch sweeper team cleared the remaining forces and took over the base.
The Combine have turned the base into Quiver Mountain Research Facility and Military Installment aka Installation 34.
Recently, the Citadel has lost contact with Installation 34 and the Administrator believes that the underground rebels have resurfaced and retaken the installation. The surface has been shelled, but knowledge of the current situation is vague at best.
The Administrator is regrouping the Transhuman forces for security operations. Support in this mission is therefore light. You are the squad leader for a team being deployed at the farside service hangar. Your mission is to infiltrate the installation, assess the situation and eliminate the underground rebels. Good luck.

This is a prety decent mod, I enjoyed being a Combine fighting the Resistance, but fighting the zombies got really repetive. I'll play the sequel.
It might be that you don't have Steam installed in the default directory, try the Zip version instead
i got some problems with the installer when i want to instal it i press next and it says complete in about 2 seconds i press close restart steam but i see no game how come? plz help me
It’s a very fine mod. I didn’t completely get the feeling like I was playing a combine, but still they did a decent job with trying to make you feel like it.
The mapping was very impressive, only got a little bit bored by metal/concrete hallways towards the end, but nothing major. The base seemed a bit odd to me, we where assigned to take back control of it, but the base seemed pointless except for some areas that was used as a prison. The base was still under Combine construction I guess. :)
Also it seems like the base wasn’t only taken over by the resistance, but by Rebels, Antlions and zombies joined together for a massive assault hehe. Not that I'm complaining, there was a good variety in combat in this game and that’s a good thing indeed, that you get to shoot rebels instead of Combines was a very welcoming change. Good length as well and I must say I felt really relieved when we got rescued from that hell hole hehe :D
Thanks for a good mod.
Heads up, seems someone has made combine destiny playable in multiplayer co-op!

about my last comment:
i was wrong about there not being enough zombies. i hadnt played the town part of the mod. i was wrong. this mod is amazing guys.
this mod is one of the better ones to play. the mod was overall very fun. i loved the part where you walk out into two turrets blasting away at 30 or so antlions. that really stuck out to me. the lighting was not a problem for me. its supposed to be more like a susvival horror and lights dont make a survival horror. the lakc of ammo also had a good effect on the overall gameplay.
however with all my praises of the mod there are a few critisms i have. i have two complaints and only two (i usually have more).
1: the load times were really long on my computer. ive never had load times that long.it might just be my computers fault though. im not really sure.
2: the mod was great but personally i wish there were more zombies but that probably would clash with my first complaint so this is probably a no-go.
other then these things i had alot of fun with the mod. shooting rebels was really fun :D
hey this is probably a dumb question as its probably easy to work out but i cant work it out.
at the very beginning when you land you walk and slip the switch kill the zombies and them you go onto the bridge 4 fast zombies turn up and then the bridge explodes
and i fall down into water i think the screen is black but i aint dead.
am i missing something here
what do i do?
This is a really nice mod, definitely one of my favorites for HL2. Uniquely built levels (not nearly as ugly like some people claim it to be). A bit too dark though.
Can't wait for the sequel!
Very nice mod with some great features. Also very professional length with a good amount of play in it. The layout is great as is the path through the maps. The architecture is good too and little touches like the Combine HUD and things make this an enjoyable play. There are a couple of issues though which stops this from being really good. On the visuals side, some people have been complaining that it is too dark in places and I would agree with that - standing in the pitch black, waiting for your torch to recharge a lot is not really very fun. Also I would have to say that some of the areas are a bit barren and lack detail. What is there is lovely, but there could be a bit more. Also because there aren't really any sub-goals, or even an objective which explains the path around the base, the game becomes a case of "walk where I'm allowed to go and kil what I see", rather than "try to reach the X to do Y". As a result the length of the game does drag a little and it all feels a bit the same. Oh and the fast-combine-suprise-round-the-corner trick is _tierd_ guys (but then I'm not really a zombie fan, much more of a gunfight guy).
High-lights include the rebel-on-combine squad action (interesting to be on the recieving end - those guys pack a nasty sting), the dazzling lights in the mines and the vortigaunt. Definately worth a play and I look forward with earnest to the sequel.
