Yeah, since Vietnam...
the C-130 was first designed and built in the 1950s and the AC variant during vietnam so yeah there did have spectre gunships
They actually had variants as early as WWII if I am not mistaken. But it wasn't that actual "spooky" or "puff the magic dragon"
