CWC is a C&C Generals Zero Hour Total Conversion and also works with "The First Decade". It takes place from 1980-1989 and features realistic units from the 80's. We want CWC to be a mixture of realism and fun. CWC is more realistic than vanilla Generals, with real life weapon systems and side specific characteristics. CWC offers 2 factions: Russia and USA. The Russians tend to use tanks and artillery (for example: T-72 / T-80, BM-21, 2S1 only to mention a few) while the USA rely on aircraft and high tech units (for example: F-15, F-16, F-117, A-10 etc.). Also we we have a lot of infantry in the game, not all of them are just cannon fodder.
Regarding the 1970s mod for CWC - I have put together all the ideas I could into an .xls file , feel free to go through the content and give me any feedback on it (incl. organization etc. issues).

like your ideas but as someone who was in the forces at the time british army of the rhine the warsaw pact did have numbers but there kit was not as good as the wests also u should include brits germans to even things up a bit a few chieftans or leopards would give the russians a load of trouble.
i think that their should be a nato army or a british army
add mig 21 to sovits
add mig 23to the sovits
Thank you, it's very nice to recieve support from someone who has actually "been there".
Well, we can't really include other nations' armies - this is the decision of the dev team who made Cold War Crisis mod. Also "no new units" status is now in place (and is likely to remain there, so MiG 21, MiG 23 too are somewhat unlikely to happen). To put it short - the mod now only supports US Army and USSR Army. No NATO/Warsaw pact, unfortunately. And no new units
A side note/question: when comparing quality of US(not necessarily NATO) and Soviet hardware in the timeframe of 1970s, was it really the US who had the upper hand on the ground? A semantics question but from what I have learned so far, it was rather USSR leading the way.
The Soviets clearly had the advantage on the ground in the 70s. The soviet MBTs and IFVs were better in terms of armor and armament than their NATO/US counterparts. The training for the ground units was the same for both sides so there is no clear distinction here. Also even though I'll make a lot of people angry, I have to say that until mid/late 70s the Soviet Union dominated in terms of aircraft designs. Most of the iconic US aircrafts(F-15,F-16,A-10) were not produced until late 70s, early 80s. The USAF counterbalanced with superior training. So adding millions of soldiers and tausands of tanks to the things said before and you'll get a NATO/US beating army. :)
I've always wanted to see a CWC 1950s mod. The USA could have M103s and M48s to counter the USSRs IS-3s and T54s. There could also be F86 sabre fighters and MiG15s on the battlefield.
I think we need to add naval war into the game. what's your opinion?
yeah! Add navy to the game to make it more interesting both of the nations have a navy.If you guys want to make it.
While there will be no units/structures that could be added in the mod, here's what i've got (in addition to the ones added in the Excel document):
USA: M151 MUTT, M551 Sheridan, UH-1 Huey, F-4E Phantom II, A-7 Corsair II, B-52 Carpet Bombing (replaces B-1B), B-52 Cruise Missile strike uses
AGM-69 w/ conventional w-head, FB-111 strike for Delta Force, M16A1 for infantry, XM177 for GB & DF, and MIM-23 Hawk SAM (AA Fortification), and FIM-43 Redeye
USSR: T-54/55, SA-6 Gainful (both cancelled on development), T-62, BMP-1, BTR-60, MiG-23, MiG-21, Su-17/-20/-22, Mi-24A (the one with the cockpit that is different from the one we're familiar with), Mi-6, AK-47 for infantry, either SA-2 Guideline or SA-3 Goa (AA Bunker), BM-27 (replaces BM-30) or FROG-7 strike (around 4 missiles) and AKMS for Spetznaz
As for the navy, it will be a rough time figuring out to create a navy using the quite unreliable SAGE (gunboats and rubber rafts may be okay)
