Beta 4.1 CC1: The Prison
The campaign is going swimmingly, and people have been slowly signing up for the release party. I am happy that I have received a lot of positive news around the net. I guess people are not use to developers releasing content WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL!
Betatesters have also given me universal praise for the campaign. I am currently working as hard as I can to quash any bugs or complaints they have about the campaign. Right now, I am hitting an annoying wall with various compiling bugs in CCTF1. I wanted to start the campaign in the early evening, and when the players get to the finale it would be around midnight. Anyways, by doing that I am getting a weird memory error. Not a problem; I always fix bugs in a day or two.

Beta 4.1 CCCO4: Target Acquired
NEWS
There are a lot of companies that are beginning to express interest in my campaign. One of these is www.CyberGamer.com.au.. A premier gaming league over in Australia and I are in talks about possibly holding my versus tournament through their site.
As of right now, I am about 80% sure CCTF and the vs maps will make it into the pre-Halloween release of the campaign. Barring any major bugs, they should be in. The main campaign, and CCCO are already playable. CCCO is just going through some balancing issues, and the main campaign is pretty much finished.
"I guess people are not use to developers releasing content WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL!" It's not like we're talking a Total Conversion here heh. That said, congrats on nearing your finish line and getting the L4D communities awareness.
Yeah it's been a challenge. I am still waiting on VALVE to take a moment to actually respond to me. A lot of people are gaining interest for the release party, and I may have an offer to hold my party at a large local LAN party in New Jersey. I will still be holding the online event, however I will be simultaneously holding one at that event. I am still working out the details, and will probably report on it this weekend.
Yeah Tatsur0 just know it, he is the PR monster here ! =P
Heh wtf are you talking about? Who said anything about PR?
very, very awesome. Might want to re-do the Ryan character's voice, it's a bit hard to hear what he's saying. Granted, not everyone is a sound designer/has access to awesome mics, but if you ask around I'm sure you can find a buddy (or some1 in the community) who does.
Sorry to throw a downer here, but the video preview shows... well... a decompiled version of DM_Lockdown from HL2DM. Is that intentional? I'm staying neutral here and not judging, as it doesn't appear that the rest of your map pictures are decompiles...
I don't think it's a decompile, he just used the same props and textures. Layout didn't look terribly similar from what little I saw in the shorter preview.
Actually, it is SDK content. You get it free when you download the sdk ;)
Yes, true. But it's not necessarily free to redistribute packaged as a campaign for another game. The people playing your campaign, may not OWN Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. I know Valve have blurry lines on these things, but the mapping community tends to see it a very different way. Correct me if I'm wrong... but be wary is all I'm saying.
Well, sometimes you have to make a decision; Do you want to use the content- By doing so you show your ability to work better with a team, and have the ability to finish a massive campaign by yourself? Or do you NOT use the content, and have to delete a couple of flames on your threads?
That's the catch-22 with promoting your work. I could easily point out the myriad of other campaigns, mods, and maps which also use the SDK content, but really is there any point to it? Sometimes you just have to release your work, and take the criticism :)
No offense to you but I think you should get a proper voice actor for this. Believe me, it makes all the difference in the world.
I can literally hear your eyes scanning over the words as you read the script in those voiced sequences.
Well, you get what you'z get when a single person is the team :P
I was planning on re-recording all of the dialogue, however it's on my list right behind, "get the survival maps working right"
Each update you guys bring makes the campaign even better, keep up the awesome job.
