Welcome to Company of Heroes: Eastern Front!

Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding a full Soviet faction packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armie as well as the rugged Ostheer - a unique new Axis faction who was designed from the ground up to counter the Soviets s - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world.

We are constantly working to improve Eastern Front; our dedicated and experienced development team has worked on the mod for three years, and we don't intend to stop yet. The future will bring new campaigns, new reward units, further game mechanics and an overall better experience.

Before downloading Eastern Front, please ensure that you have Company of Heroes patched to 2.700, this is vital as the mod relies on certain features from this latest patch. All future updates will be applied automatically through the Launcher.

-Does NOT require an existing Eastern Front install-

-Requires Company of Heroes ver. 2.700.2.42-

NOTE #1: Relic integrated Steamworks on Company of Heroes and turned off
the old servers since May 7th, 2013, this means the retail version is no
longer officially supported by them, so from now on, Eastern Front
can be played only with the new Steam version of CoH which
appears listed as "Company of Heroes (New Steam Version)"
in your Steam library. You can add your old CoH key in
Steam, for more information please read this.

NOTE #2: Eastern Front mod can be played in any CoH game
that is updated up to version 2.602. But you need to
install the compatibility fix for 2.602 in order to
not get a crash. If you install this fix in any
other version of CoH that is not 2.602
your mod will crash. We do not
support development for this
version of EF, so play
it at your own risk.

Hello comrades!

This weekend we will disclose the first reward command tree for Ostheer, and it is about Romanian support. We talked about this for several days and it is ready to be presented as base to be added ingame.


2 CP: Sapper Battalion(400 MP)

Request Romanian reinforcements! The players receives a Panzer 38(t) with a sapper squad; these Romanian sapper squads are specialists who can building any type of structure as long as you have the resources; they can build the same structures than Sturmpioneers but their perk is decreasing the construction time of buildings, field defenses and combat structures they build. They can also repair neutral buildings.

2 CP: JU-88 Bombardement (100 MU)

This bomber(Romanian textured plane in case you are wondering) will drop three bombs in the targeted area. Cannot be used in the HQ Areas.

3 CP: Auxiliar Panzer Group (1000 MP)

Foreign Panzer units are sent to support the Ostheer commander. These reinforcements are: Romanian Panzer III ausf. N(stubby, similar to PE stubby), tank destroyer TACAM T-60 or a StuG, and Vanatori de munte squads.


2 CP: Romanian Manpower (100 MU)

Allocate all the resources available to fight! This munition-based timed ability allows you to increase your manpower flow by 50% for a full 1-2 minute(s). The munitions/fuel flow rate is decreased by 25% as long as the ability is active.

2 CP: Romanian Oil Fields

Assist the German commander with a better flow of fuel. Each time one strategic point is captured (manpower ones, not munitions nor fuel) you receive an additional unit of fuel. If the sectors are cutoff or become neutral/enemy, you stop receiving the fuel bonus from them.

4 CP: 88mm Flak 36 (400 MP, 90 FU, 12 POP)

Allows you to construct a 88mm Flak 36 gun which has the same longe range and penetrative power than the German counterparts, but is also more expensive to construct(you can't decrew it that easy). It has a munition based ability which allows it to fire like a howitzer. Hard to deal with by enemy tanks but can be dealt with by artillery and infantry in general. (Can be built by Sturmpios or Romanian Sappers).

We have planned if possible to include the TACAM using the T-60 as base, but we can't promise we will finish it on time so, the StuG would be used instead. To make Romanian soldiers we will reuse some units with new textures, but so far we haven't started with this yet. If you have any comment or tip please let us know.

We don't have a name for this tree yet, so if you have a suggestion it is welcome.

This unit is like Soviet Partisans armed with Molotovs, Satchel charges and Suomi smgs and ability to scout and call in offmap artillery?

2CP Detachment Kuhlmey Ground Attack

(Historicial Info now) Detachment Kuhlmey was a temporary unit of Luftwaffe that was sent to help Finns strike back Russian offensive of Summer of 1944.

In game it could be some ground strike like ability like Stukas or Focke Wulfs bombing.

3CP or 4CP Finnish Armoured Division "Fist of Lagus"

This ability could call in KV-1,T-34,T-34/85 or Stug 3 randomly and some Finnish infantry support that can be upgraded with either Soviet DPs or Finnish Suomi smgs for defense or offense.

And for your suggestions, just FYI this is the list of assets I think the Finnish could use in EF(and we have):
- StuG III variant (the one with logs)
- 7.5 cm Pak 97/38
- Lahti L-39 Anti-Tank Rifle
- Suomi KP/-31 sub machine gun
- Mosin Nagant M39 bolt action rifle
- They have their own set of grenades (anti tank, anti personal, smoke, incendiary)

How hard it would be if someone would convert Soviet T-34 or KV-1 to "Finnish" version ? just asking because those 2 tanks were used by finns too. :)

The Dev would need to create a Finnish texture of the unit only. It is not that difficult. Unless the Finnish versions had different parts than the regular ones.

So, after reading between the lines of your Russian/ostheer post,will you be replacing models such as the king tiger with lower polycount models of your own? Sounds pretty cool(I already liked it that you modified the rangers SMG to be a Thompson and NOT a very obvious stg4 4for the icon and also liked the idea of your own reward units like the comet or 105 Sherman. Also, it seems the ostheer commander and soviet commisar, whatever he's called could use a small buff of maybe having the gain veterancy from nearby infantry?)

No, we replaced the KT with the same relic KT just that ours fix the main gun correctly after it gets repaired from a main gun critical(because in the vanilla version remains wrecked but fires normally). Same for Marder III.

As far as I remember we already did that for the Thompson.

What I meant was that you did some nice small fixes such as replacing that Thompson SMG that does give this mod a bit of uniqueness from the base game and I would like you to continue that with stuff like reward units and if its possible, can the command units for ostheer and Russia gain vet from nearby troops like the leftenant or captain.

Thanks for your support, and to answer your question, Combat Engineers will return "soon".

And for the other question, I don't think we will include new scenarios because:
1) We lack time to mod such huge fronts.
2) The mod definitely will become more unstable with more factions.

For those who know what Company of Heroes is, I will just review what the Eastern Front mods does. Overview: This mods adds the Soviet Union and soon the Ostheer, or the East Germany Army, to the Company of heroes game. You can still play the other factions, so there isn't a need to panic about not being able to play the Us or the Wermacht. Gameplay: Playing as the Soviets can be both fun and difficult. Simply, the Soviet faction is crap, the infantry is weak and costs too much, and if you actually can manage to play a game online your bound to get pwned by any other faction, even the US could kick the Soviet's ass easily if you could put them against each other. ------------------------------------------------ Update: Id be happy if they properly balanced their own units.
