First of all, huge thanks to Epic for their decision to make Unreal available via the UDK. Most of the teams involved in the MSUC had the Unreal license as their prime goal, and now the opportunity to distribute their hard work as a standalone is available to everyone. While I can promise this will be the final iteration of Coda as a mod for UT3, Tony and I will be looking into where the UDK can take us in the near future...
CodaMod v0.4 features a ton of new weapons (props to the amazing jimbos for many hours of modeling work), brilliant new sounds (thanks to the great Roland Shaw) and many game play tweaks. Its a solid release for the MSUC Grand Finals! We're in the running for Best Art, Best Physics, Best Level and Best Non-FPS Game Mod. Check out the images in our gallery.
As before, CodaMod is available for both PC and PS3 versions of Unreal Tournament 3. Roland Shaw's beautiful new sounds effects have been properly cooked and migrated to the PS3 version!
Looks great. I would download but Ut 3 mods are annoying to get working so i will wait till later untill you put mod on UDK. Great work.
Annoying to get working? It's as simple as clicking "Install" or dragging the folder into your mygames/ut3, which is tells you in a step by step procedure in the readme.
This mod might not even use the UDK, and if it does probably not for awhile. Why? Because it is also being developed for the PS3 version of UT3, which does NOT support UDK, unless the game will cost you money over PSN.
It's insulting to say you won't even try it because it isn't in the format you want, and because it is supposedly too difficult for you to install.
Annoying because of the ambiguous package name errors you might get spammed with, despite the fact you removed previous versions of the mod.
Don't you know PC gaming is dying. You need to stop caring about PS3 and just release on UDK. It will save PC gaming. I know it!
haha just joking. I don't own UT3 so I don't really care...
PC gaming isn't dying. It's just going home. Or rather, Big name devs are leaving it, leaving a beautiful power vacuum for smaller developers who make better games anyway.
Looks really good.
The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is the blood effects(I presume it is blood?). Wouldn't it be better to make it emit from the character being slashed instead of the weapon slashing?
An perhaps a slightly more sublte, darker and "cartoony" (think it would go well with your general style).
But it certainly looks good.
Remember, that is the 0.2 trailer, this is 0.2 versions later.
I find this to be a dark comic-esque style, but without the harsh cell shading that most in this group fall into. Cartoony is more TF2, with solid colours, hard shadows, and simplified/exaggerated objects.
Wow man! What a cool accomplishment! My hat is off to you.
I'll download this mod for PS3 and give it a whirl.
Thanks!
