The Classic Doom 3 modification is a remake of the original Doom game, by id Software. The main emphesis is that of brining the older game up to date in a modern graphics engine. The project makes use of all of Doom 3's advanced
graphical features while retaining the feel and gameplay of the original game.
The project will only cover the shareware levels due to many reasons that include the following :
- We are bored of converting over peoples stuff and want to create something of our own.
- The mod started off as a fun way to learn how to mod for Doom 3, and we all feel we have learnt what we need to make our own project.
- A more minor reason is the legalities of remaking anything past the freely availible shareware episode.
Our latest build is version 1.3.1 which is the final version that we plan to release. This version is numbered 1.3.1 to reflect the fact that it has been tested to work with Doom 3 patch release 1.3.1, and thus works both with Doom 3 on steam and windows vista.

Flaming Sheep Software recently released version 0.56 of their modification "Classic Doom 3" for the Doom 3 graphics engine. If you haven’t played this mod yet, the main emphasis is on bringing the original game bang up to date making use of all the advanced features that the latest offering from id Software provides.
Just over the halfway mark, the team have managed to re-create the first five levels from the shareware episode and aim to have the full shareware episode complete for their next, and final release. Every level has re-recorded music that has been created with real, live instruments for a full-on audio and graphical assault on the senses.
The screenshot accompanying this news post is an image from the level E1M2 that is a new addition to the project for the release of 0.56. Two other levels are also added extra's that brings the total level count to 6 so far. Due to the number of maps, the mod will take the average player around 45 minutes to play through completely.

Fantastic job guys! I'm a great fan of first and second Doom, and liked Doom 3 too. It's cool to see the old dog running on a great, new engine and looking so nice and modern! :D

Its nice to here your ideas. At the moment we are working on the single player aspect of the mod. I understand what you are saying in terms of this mod not being original at all however this is the project we really want to make sure is completed before moving onto anything else. Sorry to dissappoint for the time being however once the mod has had a few releases under its belt we are going to try and implement a CO-OP mode to stay in keeping with the original, however that is a long way off yet because the amount of ground-work that is needed so far.

why dont you make like this, your mod???
The mod will be like this, there are 4 marines and the others players are demons.
The marines need to complete the doom 1 maps and the others players use the monsters that are in the maps.
-The number of the monsters will be the same of the most dificult on doom 1, the monsters will not run fast and they will respawn in the same respawn time as doom 1, the damage of doom and monsters will be the same of the normal dificult of doom 1.
-If there are none players using monsters the monsters will be BOTS, if there is players using monsters but the number of players is not the same of the number of the bots on the map te others monsters will be bots. If only 1, 2 or 3 are using marines the others will be controled by bots.
-When a player enter in the game he will be able to choose what monster or marines that are in the game and players are not using and control, he will start to control the selected monster or marine instantly, if there is not monsters in map they will have to wait to monsters spawn to they use them.
-The weapons, itens, and secrets will be at the same positions.
