The Classic Doom 3 modification is a remake of the original Doom game, by id Software. The main emphesis is that of brining the older game up to date in a modern graphics engine. The project makes use of all of Doom 3's advanced
graphical features while retaining the feel and gameplay of the original game.

The project will only cover the shareware levels due to many reasons that include the following :

- We are bored of converting over peoples stuff and want to create something of our own.
- The mod started off as a fun way to learn how to mod for Doom 3, and we all feel we have learnt what we need to make our own project.
- A more minor reason is the legalities of remaking anything past the freely availible shareware episode.

Our latest build is version 1.3.1 which is the final version that we plan to release. This version is numbered 1.3.1 to reflect the fact that it has been tested to work with Doom 3 patch release 1.3.1, and thus works both with Doom 3 on steam and windows vista.

For more information please visit Flaming Sheep Softwares website that can be found at:

Cdoom.d3files.com

If you have any further questions about the project, feel free to register on our forums and ask anything related to the project.

We hope you enjoy the mod.

We have put together a new “final” release of our mod, Classic Doom 3 to satiate those who have recently bought Doom 3 via the steam download service, or those who wish to play the mod running Doom 3 patch 1.3.1. You can get the files from the mod page here at the moddb website.

When Doom 3 patch 1.3.1 was originally released, we did not update the code as it was not seen as a major update to the base Doom 3 game. Due to this, the past Flaming Sheep Software coder SnoopJedi released an update patch, 1.2, for Classic Doom 3 on his own accord, which gave compatibility with version 1.3.1 of Doom 3, but introduced a number of fatal bugs.

Over the past month, since the release of Doom 3 on the Steam network, a number of team members were contacted exponentially by players about errors with Classic Doom 3 1.1 when used with the Steam version of Doom 3. What transpired is that Classic Doom 3 1.1 did not work correctly due to the steam version of Doom 3 being fully patched to version 1.3.1.
Several of the past members of Flaming Sheep Software have come together to resolve these issues once and for all, and to tweak the mod further to improve the gaming experience.

Classic Doom 1.3.1 is a full mod release that has been fully tested as compatible under the following versions of Doom 3:

Steam Doom 3
This version should work without any updates as Doom 3 patch version 1.3.1 is included when purchased on steam. Simply download the zip or windows installation packages to play the mod.

Windows Doom 3
You are required to download Doom 3 patch 1.3.1 alongside our mod to enable it to work with a retail version of the game. The patch required can be downloaded from our host at the follow location:

Doom3.filefront.com

Linux Doom 3
As with the Windows version of Doom 3, you are required to download Doom 3 patch 1.3.1 for Linux operating system before installing Classic Doom 3 1.3.1. You can get the required patch from the following location:

Fileshack.com

Mac Doom 3
While it hasn't been tested due to not being able to find a tester who owns a mac, this release has been built for mac users as well. We hope the code works. It to like every other OS, requires the 1.3.1A patch which can be found at the following:

Aspyr.com

We would once again like to thank the community for their support of this project. Please continue the Classic Doom 3 experience with Last Man Standing Co-op, the official supported mod, which can be found here:

Lms.d3files.com

Finally I would personally like to thank SnoopJedi for starting the move to 1.3.1 with Classic Doom 3 1.2, Deadite4 for his code fixes and BHenderson for fixing some animations.

That makes sense. This is a great project, but I sure can't wait to see what you guys do next. Keep up the awesome work! :)

Just a quick question, though. Are you planning to do intermission screens at one time? It's the only thing missing. (I like to see if I've missed any secrets/kills/etc)

Unfortunatly we only plan on converting the shareware episode. There are many many reasons for this, some examples:

- We are bored of converting over peoples stuff and want to create something of our own.
- The mod started off as a fun way to learn how to mod for Doom 3, and we all feel we have learnt what we need to make our own project.
- A more minor reason is the legalities of remaking anything past the freely availible shareware episode.

As we have such a large fan following, we are going to finish the project off as best we can. If we were doing this just for ourselves, we would have ended the project on 0.25 and moved on to something of our own designs. Hopefully you will all enjoy the final release due in a number of months as we have all put a huge amount of time into it.

I played the beta 0.56 and really enjoyed it. I like the way you guys copy the original levels. You add detail and it's not a 1:1 copy, but still the levels are recogizable. Also I did not encounter any bugs that would hamper gameplay.

Is it true that you don't plan to remake the other episodes? That would be very sad *sniff* ;).

I fail to understand where your statement has come from, and what grounds it has on what we are currently doing.

If you read our website, the details on the forums and play the actual mod, you will understand what we are trying to do. We are not trying to remake the original Doom into something new with an integrated storyline, we are attempting to take the original game and advance its graphics while keeping the same semi-mindless violence atmosphere of the original...

It really does seem that you fail to understand what we are trying to acomplish here with the project. If you want to discuss this further I urge you to join our forum where a more full debate can be entered by yourself and our development team...

No what I mean was DOOM3 was a complete remake useing the same storyline with changes. Your still on a Mars base, shit happens, you blow stuff up. It was basicly DOOM and DOOM2 (from what I understand by watching these interviews... strait form the developers mouth.)

Thanks for the kind words, we have just released a promo video to show a small glimpse of what is to be in the next release (and what is also in the current release).

Hope you enjoy what you see - check the news on our home page for more information.

What's your problem? If you hadn't noticed, the levels in Doom 3 weren't a remake of the original levels, Doom 3 was a remake of the storyline. So this mod is just remaking the Doom 1 levels, not the storyline. BTW, good luck with this, I'm gonna download the latest release tomorrow, can't wait to play!

Please think before you speak. Everyone on our mod team has at least played the full version of the original game to completion. Im not sure who has played the second game to completion, but personally speaking I have completed both the Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 on the following formats:

- PC original releases
- Playstation
- Jaguar
- Snes (doom 1 only)
- Gameboy Advance (doom 1 only)
- 32x (for megadrive - doom 1 only)

Critisism of the project is obviously taken on board and listened too. If you have anything constructive to say please post it on the official forums at Cdoom.d3files.com

The full team are aware that Doom 3 was created based around the idea of retelling of the story in the original game - we have not stated anywhere anything that states otherwise. Our modification is simply to bring the original game up to date with modern gameplay and modern graphics.
As a whole, the team have a vision on what we want the final version to be like and progress is comming along very well.

I have three things left to say (one of which already stated)

1) If you dont like the mod, dont play it - its free, your not paying for it with hard-earned cash.
2) As the developers of a free product, we do not owe any single person anything and are simply creating something that fulfils our vision on what a remake should be like.
3) If you are going to make a blanket statement, at least explain the reasons behind your comments. Simple-minded statements like what you have stated do not help us, and they do not help yourself.

Maybe someone should tell these guys DOOM3 was built around the first DOOM game's story line and on into DOOM2's. I bet they never have played it.
