Classic Doom 3 1.3.1
Oct 4, 2007 Full Version 5 commentsClassic Doom 3 1.3.1 windows installer for use with windows XP and Vista - this version is steam compatible.
The Classic Doom 3 modification is a remake of the original Doom game, by id Software. The main emphesis is that of brining the older game up to date in a modern graphics engine. The project makes use of all of Doom 3's advanced
graphical features while retaining the feel and gameplay of the original game.
The project will only cover the shareware levels due to many reasons that include the following :
- We are bored of converting over peoples stuff and want to create something of our own.
- The mod started off as a fun way to learn how to mod for Doom 3, and we all feel we have learnt what we need to make our own project.
- A more minor reason is the legalities of remaking anything past the freely availible shareware episode.
Our latest build is version 1.3.1 which is the final version that we plan to release. This version is numbered 1.3.1 to reflect the fact that it has been tested to work with Doom 3 patch release 1.3.1, and thus works both with Doom 3 on steam and windows vista.
For more information please visit Flaming Sheep Softwares website that can be found at:
If you have any further questions about the project, feel free to register on our forums and ask anything related to the project.
We hope you enjoy the mod.

We have put together a new “final” release of our mod, Classic Doom 3 to satiate those who have recently bought Doom 3 via the steam download service, or those who wish to play the mod running Doom 3 patch 1.3.1. You can get the files from the mod page here at the moddb website.
When Doom 3 patch 1.3.1 was originally released, we did not update the code as it was not seen as a major update to the base Doom 3 game. Due to this, the past Flaming Sheep Software coder SnoopJedi released an update patch, 1.2, for Classic Doom 3 on his own accord, which gave compatibility with version 1.3.1 of Doom 3, but introduced a number of fatal bugs.
Over the past month, since the release of Doom 3 on the Steam network, a number of team members were contacted exponentially by players about errors with Classic Doom 3 1.1 when used with the Steam version of Doom 3. What transpired is that Classic Doom 3 1.1 did not work correctly due to the steam version of Doom 3 being fully patched to version 1.3.1.
Several of the past members of Flaming Sheep Software have come together to resolve these issues once and for all, and to tweak the mod further to improve the gaming experience.
Classic Doom 1.3.1 is a full mod release that has been fully tested as compatible under the following versions of Doom 3:
Steam Doom 3
This version should work without any updates as Doom 3 patch version 1.3.1 is included when purchased on steam. Simply download the zip or windows installation packages to play the mod.
Windows Doom 3
You are required to download Doom 3 patch 1.3.1 alongside our mod to enable it to work with a retail version of the game. The patch required can be downloaded from our host at the follow location:
Linux Doom 3
As with the Windows version of Doom 3, you are required to download Doom 3 patch 1.3.1 for Linux operating system before installing Classic Doom 3 1.3.1. You can get the required patch from the following location:
Mac Doom 3
While it hasn't been tested due to not being able to find a tester who owns a mac, this release has been built for mac users as well. We hope the code works. It to like every other OS, requires the 1.3.1A patch which can be found at the following:
We would once again like to thank the community for their support of this project. Please continue the Classic Doom 3 experience with Last Man Standing Co-op, the official supported mod, which can be found here:
Finally I would personally like to thank SnoopJedi for starting the move to 1.3.1 with Classic Doom 3 1.2, Deadite4 for his code fixes and BHenderson for fixing some animations.

This is FREAKING AMAZING all the maps look familiar yet updated and new, and it has remakes of the original music heard in the first DOOM. There is even an opening cinematic that explains how the main character gets there in the first place. Awesome. Just freaking AWESOME.

Please think before you speak. Everyone on our mod team has at least played the full version of the original game to completion. Im not sure who has played the second game to completion, but personally speaking I have completed both the Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 on the following formats:
- PC original releases
- Playstation
- Jaguar
- Snes (doom 1 only)
- Gameboy Advance (doom 1 only)
- 32x (for megadrive - doom 1 only)
Critisism of the project is obviously taken on board and listened too. If you have anything constructive to say please post it on the official forums at Cdoom.d3files.com
The full team are aware that Doom 3 was created based around the idea of retelling of the story in the original game - we have not stated anywhere anything that states otherwise. Our modification is simply to bring the original game up to date with modern gameplay and modern graphics.
As a whole, the team have a vision on what we want the final version to be like and progress is comming along very well.
I have three things left to say (one of which already stated)
1) If you dont like the mod, dont play it - its free, your not paying for it with hard-earned cash.
2) As the developers of a free product, we do not owe any single person anything and are simply creating something that fulfils our vision on what a remake should be like.
3) If you are going to make a blanket statement, at least explain the reasons behind your comments. Simple-minded statements like what you have stated do not help us, and they do not help yourself.
brilliant! Keep this going - excellent work ppl!!!!!!!!!!!
10/10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Maybe someone should tell these guys DOOM3 was built around the first DOOM game's story line and on into DOOM2's. I bet they never have played it.
When we have deathmatch in the game (hopefully the next release... that is 3/4 months away :s ), it will be a lot faster paced compared to the single player experience. It will use the single player maps but will be as close to the speed of the original doom as possible, while using the weapons from singleplayer.
Deathmatch itself when implemented will be a lot more closer to Doom than Doom 3 deathmatch ;) , even if singleplayer doesnt get you excited, hopefully you'll enjoy the deathmatch mode... when its done.
:( - well, I understand you're decision. I'll try the mod out as soon as I can get onto my brother's computer (I gave Doom 3 a pass myself when I found out it was a survival horror mod).
And as for CPMA, I understand its a "ProMode" mod that re-implements the movement bugs of Quake 1 into Quake 3. I never like FPS games that involve complex movement tricks to go fast like stair-launching and strafe-jumping. It makes the action meaninglessly hectic and creates a nasty learning curve. Plus, it means that players need to learn a massive amount of inane trivia in order to navigate the map properly. Doom, by comparison, was smooth and simple - while players moved fast, it was in a fluid, slippery manner that meant you just had to lead your targets more.
yea the next releae and it is on my 13th birthday. :)
Hi Pxtl, Im afraid to say it isnt going to be that way physics wise because we tried speeding up the doom guy but it made the levels go past too damn quickly. Sure its what the original doom was about but thats not exactly what we are aiming for... hmm if you download the mod you'll see what we are aiming for in terms of how we want the game to feel.
Its faster than normal doom but not on the scale that the original doom is compared to doom3 - its somewhere in the middle - which is what the whole mod is about :)
If you like super fast games, get Quake 3 and download CPMA - its the fastest DM game out there when your playing CPMA however its not a touch on original doom lol.
Anyway thanks for the comments and hope to see you on the forum, I mean if you got any more questions but dont want to go to the effort of joining the forum you can email me and I'll answer whatever you want to ask :)
laterz :)
Wishing you all the best on this mod.
Will this game have Doom's incredibly-slippery-and-fast physics? I've been playing Legacy a lot, and it strikes me how fast Doom is with autorun, and how poor the player's traction is. The only other games I can think that handle anything like that involve hover vehicles. Personally, I love that feature, and hope you guys maintain it. It also makes the "walk" key useful, as moving slowly with low inertia is cruicial in surviving catwalk-oriented levels.
this mod is real good and hard, since health isnt like it was back then. welli cant forget this is a alpha. still good work.
