MiddleEarthProject is a full conversion Tolkien mod for Crusader Kings 2 which will feature bookmarks throughout the Third Age. This mod is being developed independently from any other LotR or Middle Earth mods out there. The map will cover the main areas of Middle Earth, known in the books and films.

So, Middle-Earth is waiting for you! Will you play as the descendant of one of the noble families of Rohan or Gondor?
Will you try to reforge the ancient kingdoms of Elves in Eriador? Or will you try to destroy all the Free Peoples, and claim Middle Earth for Morgoth?
This mod will give you a unique strategy experience of the Third Age in Middle-Earth. From Forodwaith to Bellakar, from Lindon to Rhûn, lead your dynasty and survive the Dark Times. Become one of the most important Lords of the Age!


INSTALLATION GUIDE
1/ Download the mod, and open the .rar file with Winrar or any similar software.
2/ If you've got a former version of the mod, remove it entirely.
2/ Extract MEP 0.1.5b in your "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings 2/mod" directory (NOT directly in the game folder)
3/ Launch the Game, and enjoy!

This is a full release of the Middle Earth Project mod for Crusader Kings II. This update is compatible with version 2.2.1 of Crusader Kings II. Please delete any old installations of the mod and replace it with the 0.4.1b full version. Make sure you install in My Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/mod to work properly. For detailed instructions check the included readme.This is a beta and there will be bugs. Nothing is set in stone and we will appreciate any input that you think might improve the mod.


Installation Instructions
  1. Delete any old versions of the mod and it's cache from "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusaders Kings II/mod/MiddleEarthProject Beta" and "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusaders Kings II/MiddleEarthProject"
  2. Download the mod, and open the .rar file with Winrar or any similar software.
  3. Extract all the files in the archive directly to your "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings 2/mod" directory.
  4. Launch the game, select the mod and enjoy!

New Features
  • Give and recieve gifts as a Hobbit to make friends and gain popularity.
  • Reunite the Seven Kingdoms as a Dwarf Lord and become the High King Under All the Mountains.
  • Regain your true strength when you recover the Ring as Sauron.
  • Use the Index to learn extra information about gameplay and features.
  • Elven children now reach adulthood between the ages of 50 and 100, new special flavour for their upbringing and tutorship.
  • New Buildings System: each race now has their own unique buildings, thanks to the work of Athoen.
  • Northern Middle-Earth will now feel the effects of winter and snow.
  • Lorien now truly has a golden wood.
  • Racial descriptions including detailed info on bonuses and maluses.

But could you tell me where the bug was because a friend of mine modded a little bit by himself and he does not like to do his dwarv-things again, so he would like to fix it by himself. ;)

Just compare the defines.lua file in the common folder, with the one of the vanilla game. In the technology section, you'll have to change the values.

in ruler designer can traits be a but lower?
what is may age for dwarf? i made dwarf old 305 and made 1 kid and then died(having one last blast XD)
did make another charater who was 111 old died in 11 days lol

With the "Dwarf" trait, the max age will be around 250-260 years old ;)
The character with 111 years old didn't have the correct dwarf trait i suppose, the correct is in the bottom of the list in the ruler designer, it's not the vanilla one ;)

The culture names in the mod are scripted like this : culture_xxxx and not juste the name of the culture, and that´s the same with the religions : religion_xxxxx , should be your problem ;)

You don't understand me...
To make the code by command, you should write : "culture culture_rohirrim" to change in a rohirrim culture. Or "culture culture_noldor" to change in a noldor culture. You'll find all the ids of the cultures in common/cultures.

To make it works, you should use the correct command "culture" or "religion", and put the correct id after it.

Well we'll certainly add more bookmarks/scenarios in the first days of Third Age. As we already said a lot of times, Second Age and First Age will necessitate new maps, so basically submods. We'll maybe work on them once the Third Age mod will be done!

This mod is a work-in-progress. All the same, it is very good. Being able to role-play with characters from the Tolkien Legendarium at the same time as I engage in grand strategy is great. Being able to add one's own flavour to Middle Earth's history is something I think is truly rewarding. The modder has gone into a lot of detail to make the base game fit the specifications of Arda and its history what with all the intricate family trees that are unnecessary but oh so lovely.
