MiddleEarthProject is a full conversion Tolkien mod for Crusader Kings 2 which will feature bookmarks throughout the Third Age. This mod is being developed independently from any other LotR or Middle Earth mods out there. The map will cover the main areas of Middle Earth, known in the books and films.

So, Middle-Earth is waiting for you! Will you play as the descendant of one of the noble families of Rohan or Gondor?
Will you try to reforge the ancient kingdoms of Elves in Eriador? Or will you try to destroy all the Free Peoples, and claim Middle Earth for Morgoth?
This mod will give you a unique strategy experience of the Third Age in Middle-Earth. From Forodwaith to Bellakar, from Lindon to Rhûn, lead your dynasty and survive the Dark Times. Become one of the most important Lords of the Age!


INSTALLATION GUIDE
1/ Download the mod, and open the .rar file with Winrar or any similar software.
2/ If you've got a former version of the mod, remove it entirely.
2/ Extract MEP 0.1.5b in your "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings 2/mod" directory (NOT directly in the game folder)
3/ Launch the Game, and enjoy!

Middle-Earth Project 0.3.1b FULL RELEASE

This is a full update of the Middle Earth Project mod for Crusader Kings II. This update is compatible with version 2.1.6 of Crusader Kings II.
This is a beta and there will be bugs. Nothing is set in stone and we will appreciate any input that you think might improve the mod.


An Extended Map

Look into Belegaer, the Great Sea of the West, and discover the borders of the lost lands of Beleriand and Numenor. New islands, like Tol Fuin or Tol Morwen appears now. We reworked too some areas, like Bellakar, or the areas of Gundabad and the Misty Mountains.
Welcome to Gwaihir, the Lord of the Eagles, and all his kin in Rosroval, the "Peak of the Eagles". The Line of Golfimbul is still alive, and Mount Gram can prepar to war once again. All Eriador fears the new powers of the orcs of the North now!
Create your own kingdom of middlemen in Enedwaith, and become the High King of Isenvale, to balance the power of both Arnor and Gondor!

Craft your own objects !


As a Dwarf or a Noldor craftsman, you're now able to craft your own objects. Create some jewels, forge weapons, and improve your skills to be the proud heir of Telchar of Nogrod, or Celebrimbor of Eregion !
As a Noldor master or legendary craftsman, reconquer Ost-in-Edhil, and try to rebuild the Gwaith-i-Mirdain, the brotherhood of Celebrimbor, where were forged the Rings of Power. Gather the other craftsmen, and together, you'll give prestige and glory to your kin !
Use the Rings of the Dwarves to create more wealth in your mines, or try to find the One Ring, and maybe you'll find a Lesser Ring, these rings forged by the Noldor of Eregion as essays of the Rings of Power.

The Palantiri


Now, the Palantiri are all created, one trait by Stone. Try to keep the stones in your dynasty, and gain a lot of prestige with them !
As one of the guardians of the Palantiri, use your Stone during Wars to call your friends to the battlefield !
As an elf or a numenorean, travel to Elostirion, and try to see the Lights of Tol Eresseä through the Stone of Elendil, the only one who wasn't connected with the others in Middle-earth. You can gain more prestige, or become more depressed... Will you be as perceptive than Elendil the Great?

More corrections...


- Fixed some bugs, like the "the Old" for elves and dwarves
- Random generated numenoreans characters will now have some chance to gain one of the blood of numenor
- Colonize and Purge the provinces of your vassals

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't they be two major religions only? The Cult of Eru (and inside of this one the "heresy" of The Cult of Mahal, they recognise Eru but Aulë is their maker) and the Cult of Melkor. With minor "gods" in each one, (Sauron, Balrogs, maybe Dragons) I know that they were called with different names by each culture. But don't christians do the same?

Yeah, but we used the religion system to simulate in a better way the races. So, the vanilla religion system is replaced by a "culture group" sort of. This way, we're able to prevent marriages, give the possibility to raid -or not- more lore accurate.
So, arnorian, gondorian or dunedain will have the dunedain "religion/culture", when black_numenoreans will be from black_numenoreans "religion/culture), even if they're in the same culture group in the culture file, for exemple. Is it clear? :D

In the same way, we can make the Moriquendi and Calaquendi difference for elves.

All the known Middle-Earth is already in the mod, so no, i don't think so ;)
And we don't have enough material to add the lands of this map, you'll have big blank country, and that's all... So no, i don't think we'll do it. By the way, it's already enough work for us with the "known" Middle-Earth ;)

Hey man I really love your mod! It clearly has great potential but I was wondering am I not allowed to use ruler designer for the mod because it never works for me only in select counties, I know this is still beta but just asking if you can help me. :D

Well didn't hurt to ask, even tho you could just made up the unknown land kingdoms and stuff :D

Anyway do you plan to expand a little on the "Corrupted of Darkness/Guardian of the Middle earth" thing? Would be nice to see option to change your alignment at will once per life to neutral/good/evil, or being forced. Like say evil faction uses invasion casus beli and you can be given decision that makes you evil and peaces out with you (similar to holy wars against pagans in vanila) and you get all the angry vasals defecting from your realm. Or say if you are evil and have good relation (say +60) of others kingdom top liege with good alignment he can try to convince you to redeem yourself or you will get massive relation penalty towards him and friend of yours will get "great holy war" cb on one of your kingdoms.

For now, most of our work is on compatiblity with the latest patch, and on the next update, but yeah, i think that we'll expand the mechanics of the "Good/Evil" side later !
