Aragorn and Arwen start out with a trait which prevents them from marrying anyone except each other.

This presents some problems. First of all, the fertility penalty would prevent reproduction unless the trait disappeared upon marriage. Secondly, if you are playing as one and the other dies, than that's it: bloodline ended and game over. Finally, it makes breaking canon harder for any player who so wishes.

Personally, the trait would feel less restrictive if both characters got an option to break the vow in the form of an intrigue decision.

The main problem is that if you play as one of them, you can't marry anyone at all. This means that Aragorn can't even arrange a marriage to Arwen, because he has a trait saying he took a vow to only marry Arwen. That doesn't make sense.

I can understand it, but we prevented any marriages between Aragorn and Arwen before the end of the War of the Ring. In 11380, you can have a decision as Aragorn to break the vow, and be able to marry someone else.
As the children of Arwen and Aragorn are scripted, Arwen keep the trait once married to him, then you'll have only four children : Eldarion and three daugthers.

Maybe i'll add some events later to break the vow or marry Arwen sooner ! :)

That makes some sense, but the someone playing as Aragorn or Arwen is still screwed if he goes on a hunting trip and is eaten by a bear.

An event to marry Arwen sooner would be useful.

The best way to make this trait work is if it came with an intrigue decision which allowed Aragorn or Arwen to break the oath at any time, thus removing the trait in both characters. To make it realistic, making the decision should cause an opinion penalty (meaning the other one dislikes you).

That's a good idea Timjames, i'll try to go further on it.
Thanks for your suggestions !

No problem. This is a very good mod, and I look forward to any and all additions and improvements.
