The purpose of the map was to work for/with Rad15 and to create him an environment that would allow his Advanced AI to utilise the environment for tactical onslaughts and cover.
Therefore, the map will be released alongside his Advanced AI to show best how the AI can work in such suitable environments.

Within 10 days we modeled, textured, placed models into map, terrain & textured, TOD and optimised.(though i have cheated as i created some of the models before this time lol) This was for the default untouched look of the city.
Then, the few days after, we added military props to the city, for the current military storyline that we are going with for the first release of this map.

The Original version of the map was released on 17/09/08 (Crymod) and the 24/09/08 (Moddb.com).
Version 1.2 is the latest updated version, including altered gameplay and an MP-IA map, to be released on 11/01/09

Opening cutscene shows the General talking to Nomad, where the General will then ask what time of day you would prefer to play (as seen in previous screenshots), and how many marines you would like on your team. Onscreen prompts will allow for you to make your decision, which will then affect the rest of the game.

In the same area that the General spoke to you, there is also a couple of walls filled with guns, for you to test. There are a number of targets set up, and if you press the button, you will have 30 seconds in which to shoot as many targets as possible

Features:

  • City Assault 1.2 SP - the same mission, but with the option to play at night or day, and alone or with a team of marines.
  • City Assault IA MP - a cutdown version of the city, go for 16 players.

I will say that I enjoyed this map. The main reason it is so enjoyable is that I prefer urban combat over jungle warfare anyday. Having said that, the only flaws I can tell are that the shotgun range is ridiculous. I was on top of one of the tallest buildings sniping and I was catching pellets from a shotgun blast on the street...one block away. The other is that I saw a couple of guys fall from the tops of buildings and get up to start shooting at me; I wish I was that impervious to falls. That last thing I noticed is that the guys kept coming; as fun as that is, when I kill 30 guys and there are 30 more coming from nowhere, you tend to run out of ammo. It also makes it difficult to pick up ammo in a crunch. However, all together it was fun and brought a smile to my face.

I think a lot of people dont realize that shotguns actually can shoot very far! i shoot guns alot and have shot shotguns many times. this mod was sweet! keep it up guys!

i downloaded this mod its alright but it gas costum shaders and when i leave the mod and go to play normal crysis it still says costum i dont realy want this mod screwing with my shaders

What are you talking about, I am unaware of this problem; we have not used custom shaders, only on custom models/props. It should not effect your original Crysis game, It must be a problem with your Graphics card or Crysis itself.

Crysis should have a mod to make the game more open ended, so you can complete missions and have different factions, etc. Maybe even a points system so you can buy ammos and weaponry?
