Oct 31, 2006 Patch 0 commentsThis fixes the problem with the lightning effect. Simply unzip it into the baseq3 folder of your Chili Quake XXL installation.
Chili Quake XXL, formerly Quake 2005 Revolution, is a High Definition Graphics Update for Id Softwares Quake 3 Arena.
It includes some new models, new textures, and also new shaders.
It utilizes the evolution q3 engine ( Evolution.quakedev.com ) , so pixel and vertex shaders are also supported, and they are already in use.
It also includes some high resoluted weapon textures from Destroyer.
The goal of Chili Quake XXL is to make Q3A look like a nextgen game while maintaining the compatibility to the original Q3A and its mods, and its original style.
Note to the Installation: You have to install Chili Quake XXL in an own directory (e.g. C:\Programs\Chil Quake XXL), and then you must copy the pak0.pk3 file from your previous original Q3 installation in the baseq3 folder there.
PS: You will need a realy strong computer to play it smoothly ;)
Note: You MUST have a 3D accelerator wich supports Pixel-Shader.
If you have problems starting it, try to start it with "+set r_ext_framebuffer_object 0"

Thanks to the great design of raitis, Chili Quake XXL now finaly got a professional looking website online ;)

100% recomended.
Got some bugs and texture errors on a few mods, buth if you know how to work on your Q3 that will not be any problem.
There's still a bug with the pickups over a distance.
What a waste of time downloading this crap because it doesn't damn work.
If you would have some knowledge about q3 and it's engine it should have been no problem to get it running.
But it may also be possible that the evq3 engine just dont work on every sys (i was only able to test it on my own sys), in this case you could have used Quake 2005 Revolution, Metaltech Revolutions or whatever, rather than beeing offending.
I can't seem to run the mod after copying the pak0.pk3 file. Help?
Also, now my Quake 3 game seems to bee unplayable. The start menu has been rendered FUBAR.
Congrat`s for the mod, runs well on my pc 2gb of ram intel core 2 duo and 7300GS . I hope to see a linux installer as well of this mod .

Hi there, sad to hear is dead, but i see you are alive, so how it is ?
Am, anyway i am www.excessiveplus.net mod player, this mod is very configurable, and still fighting - alive. I wonder maybe u can make for it some extra "upgrade" like high quality texturing, skins, and other stuff pack (pk3 - zip). Talk to devs - make it !
And anyway, chili must be not stand alone mod, but exactly what i mean like add on to any mod. So basically i mean a conjunction, like for eplus mod, have a nice chili "hq plugin or add-on" whatever it called :)
That way idea can spread much more widely ;]
@sauliavas: you could rename the install file from .exe to .zip, then you can unpack it normaly.
All you need to do after that is to get the linux source from the evq3 svn 70.86.44.154 and compile it for linux.
That should do the trick ;)

@Newkiller: well, that is mostly because none of us is a coder, except the guy who made the evq3 engine, but sadly he isnt in the team, he just allowed us to use the engine.
The only way to get it on other os'es is to compile the sourcecode of the engine for the own needs.
And last but not least: sorry that it took so long ;)
