Chili Quake XXL Hotfix 1.01
Oct 31, 2006 Patch 0 commentsThis fixes the problem with the lightning effect. Simply unzip it into the baseq3 folder of your Chili Quake XXL installation.
Chili Quake XXL, formerly Quake 2005 Revolution, is a High Definition Graphics Update for Id Softwares Quake 3 Arena.
It includes some new models, new textures, and also new shaders.
It utilizes the evolution q3 engine ( Evolution.quakedev.com ) , so pixel and vertex shaders are also supported, and they are already in use.
It also includes some high resoluted weapon textures from Destroyer.
The goal of Chili Quake XXL is to make Q3A look like a nextgen game while maintaining the compatibility to the original Q3A and its mods, and its original style.
Note to the Installation: You have to install Chili Quake XXL in an own directory (e.g. C:\Programs\Chil Quake XXL), and then you must copy the pak0.pk3 file from your previous original Q3 installation in the baseq3 folder there.
PS: You will need a realy strong computer to play it smoothly ;)
Note: You MUST have a 3D accelerator wich supports Pixel-Shader.
If you have problems starting it, try to start it with "+set r_ext_framebuffer_object 0"
Have fun with it ;)
PS: If you have any problems, questions or ideas post them in the Chili Quake XXL Forum: Chili.planetquake.gamespy.com

@sauliavas: you could rename the install file from .exe to .zip, then you can unpack it normaly.
All you need to do after that is to get the linux source from the evq3 svn 70.86.44.154 and compile it for linux.
That should do the trick ;)
@Bfett & Vipersfate: THX =D
@Newkiller: well, that is mostly because none of us is a coder, except the guy who made the evq3 engine, but sadly he isnt in the team, he just allowed us to use the engine.
The only way to get it on other os'es is to compile the sourcecode of the engine for the own needs.
And last but not least: sorry that it took so long ;)
we will have a great comeback soon ^^
hi
1 how can i install it on Linux ?
2 can this's mod's quality be used with other mod like cpm or excessiveplus ?
3 its impossible to make custom or original id's maps to look better then they are already, so whats the point (images are like they are, r_picmip 0 isn't a miracle) ?
4 only guns and effects is scaled up on chili right ?
GREAT GRAPHICS IMPROVEMENT.
I LIKE HOW U R USING EVERYTHING THE ENGINE HAS TOO OFFER, STUFF ID LEFT OUT
I'm digging this mod, good work!
just wondering - Can this mod be applied to Team Arena aswell?
and could someone please find a way to disable the jump and land sounds
of the players, it's the only thing that annoys the hell out me about the game.
It is sad that no character models were changed...
I love this mod, it's great looking and the only way I will be Quaking for years to come.
I only have one issue. The health orbs are not showing up as in the screen shots. I just get a grey ball with a light on the top and bottom. Anyone have a fix for that? THanks!
Hello,
I have one question for you developers.
Why is not Chili Quake mod not available for other OSes than Windows? (MacOS-X,GNU/Linux,etc...)
btw. excuse my bad english...
hi, agree to this post
same here please pack all mod to any kind off archive instead of windows executable, or just make some naked archive with all what it have - still something will be..
I know it is slow on some systems, but if you have geforce 7600 it should be no problem for you O_O
i have a Ati X800GT and it runs with more than 100fps with full details.
Maybe you have antialiasing turned on, this can be a very big perfomance hit on huge maps ;)
But it is true that the Doom3 Engine runs way faster, because it is optimized for newer cards and the q3 engine not.
Hi Wakey,
just gave Chili Quake a try. It looks very good imo and I like the detailed textures on the weapons and the weapons effects, the only exception is the lighting gun shaft.
Only major concern is that it does not run on my machine though I've got a geforce 7600 that makes Doom III run in smoothly in full details. :-/
I like the corona-effects that surround the light sources. Good work alltogether!
